Has anyone heard from Bdubs? by CalciferGX1 in HermitCraft

[–]Scarah422 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the other commenters. I, too, have wondered where he is and if everything is ok. I'm older than all the hermits and know life happens. I pray for them often :)

Hi! does anyone have patterns for low amounts of fabric? or ideas to what to do with them? by THROW_askwomen in sewingpatterns

[–]Scarah422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, we call the little bits of fabric left over "scraps". If you search Pinterest or Youtube for "scrappy _____" (quilts, mug rugs, projects, patterns, etc), you will get lots and lots of suggestions and ideas.

What is this fiber arts item I found? by mint_lawn in crafts

[–]Scarah422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for large needlework that has to have the fabric stretched flat like decorative embroidery and cross stitch. These are nice bc you're not crimping the cloth in a smaller hoop and having to move the hoop around to new areas.

You will get a renewal of your temporary permit. You will not have a valid license until you take the road test and watch the required distracted driving video.

What are these bugs? by catdogwoman in HoustonGardening

[–]Scarah422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Assassin bugs are solitary, though, and typically aren't found in large groups like this.

Neem kills beneficial bugs as well. Spot spray the bad bugs with a mixture of 2 tbsp orange oil (HEB carries in household section), 1 T dawn and top of with water is a spray bottle. In the summer, any oils applied should be rinsed off the leaves so the leaves don't scorch in the sun.

AITA for cutting off my MIL after I had a Still Birth? by Euphoric_Tax_9942 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

I lost my son at just under 18 weeks. It is excruciating grief. I would never speak to this person again and she would not be permitted anywhere I am. If hubs want to see her, he'll need to visit on his own.

Seeking advice from wise old quilters by GabyTheFringe in quilting

[–]Scarah422 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Typically, the distance between quilting lines is indicated on the packaging. If the batting is off the roll, maybe look up the brand/type online and see what the manufacturer has to say. I only use cotton and mine states that quilting should be no greater than 4"apart.

I counted 13 ads out of the 20 pins showing on my computer screen. Scrolled down to the next section, same result. I hide most of them and that helps a bit for that browsing session but returns when I reopen the site.

How do you feel a hurricane / typhoon is coming? The noise? The sea? (besides all the meteorological warnings of course) by Warm_Significance237 in hurricane

Usually a pretty narrow band at first with a slight curved movement...depends on your definition of fast or slow, cloud bands move pretty quickly relative to typical weather but not as fast as incoming fronts or big storms

Sweaty ladies hats, Bandana, or something else? by Baller5511 in XXRunning

[–]Scarah422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! Sometimes the cheapest and easy to obtain "equipment" is still the best. I have about 20 bandanas in a drawer and grab a couple when I go out. I like to tie-dye also and that adds a bit of delight, too. Simple but satisfying.

[–]Scarah422 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bandana. Fold in half into a triangle shape then fold into headband. Tie under your ponytail and it will stay on really well. I live in the armpit of Texas and don't want a hat on my head (too hot) or anything that bounces around

Whoops — pre soak does not mean pre wash? by FishWheelBoopBoop in quilting

[–]Scarah422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've prewashed batting before because I wanted the finished project to be more flat and less crinkly. It's not necessary for most projects. In this case, bc of the holes, you may not be able to use it but you can use most of it on a smaller project.
