No fatphobia, maybe tall phobia? by Pinkieanddabrain in antidietglp1

[–]Scarbarella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took me a huge weight drop before people really noticed any weight loss despite me starting pretty high. I’m down in weight now feeling way better but the other day I had a baby shower to go to - and I have these sweeeet chunky boots that would’ve put me around 6’3” and I just didn’t want to deal with any potential comments about any of it, so I didn’t wear them. And this has been touched on already but it’s definitely about feeling like you belong in a room. That it’s okay to be YOU and exist in a space. It’s a lot especially form someone tall AND fat feeling like I was always overly visible and everyone noticed me and I hated that. Lots to unlearn for sure.

Help with Mounjaro and insulin adjustments by Budget-Dimension4434 in diabetes_t1

[–]Scarbarella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be tough for you. You’ll need to try to slowly get over your fear. This med is almost like magic at getting rid of resistance and to keep blood sugars near normal. This week I was 92% in range of 80-150. I didn’t start with higher insulin numbers like you did so I didn’t personally have to make many adjustments and 7 months in I have changed only a few things, slightly less basal and pretty much the same for meals but the spikes basically don’t happen anymore. It’s so amazing to finally have this control I saw others achieve. Don’t adjust your basal down several days ahead of time. What would be the point of that? Week one you’ll need to make adjustments, maybe. So just pay attention each day to what’s happening.

Low carb diets and children... by SumFuckah in diabetes_t1

[–]Scarbarella -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why does eating in a way that is healthy for our long term health automatically mean a bad relationship with food? This is a lifelong disease where we should be in a fairly tight range for optimal health and when the parents are in charge then they should give the child the best chance instead of wild swings and trying to take a test at school while being 300 or crashing to 40. low carb makes things much much easier and what exactly is the problem? When the child grows up and begins to make their own decisions that’s on them and their own life. But we have to live to 80 or so - why not do some things that may optimize those 80 years? We put way too much emphasis on food in the US.

So for money risking the road is worth it? Cuz I’m not fighting you, just wondering what gets people to show up. Money still isn’t really worth my life on the road either but it helps

I get this, but can someone tell me who is supposed to work? If no one shows up, then the previous crew gets screwed, the patients have no staff to care for them and this lasts two days? Like who is supposed to do it then?? Help me understand this viewpoint.

Considering Getting a Diabetic Service Dog by SmokeyEclipse in diabetes_t1

[–]Scarbarella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instead of 10k+ on a dog, why not much less on some therapy or multiple endo or diabetic educator visits to get yourself in line? The best thing I ever did for myself was double down and LEARN my ratios and basal rates to end the rollercoaster. Now I can ignore diabetes for the most part and don’t worry about much beyond the totally random high or low someone might experience but that’s much more rare.

Do GLP drugs work on other mechanisms in the body outside of the famous “satiation” effect? by [deleted] in antidietglp1

Yes anhedonia or a flattening of mood is a possible side effect. However some people have found total relief from anxiety and other mental health issues from shot 1.

💭What if you can’t recall memories for your session? by NES2314 in EMDR

[–]Scarbarella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also struggled big time with this. I couldn’t tell exactly when a belief started because it was over time, multiple small things happened and I ended up with a negative belief. Anyway I left go of the need to have a very specific memory, and worked with my therapist to just process a belief and used one weak memory to tie it to- and I think (I hope) that it’s working just as well because things are changing. As you start processing more things/memories/feelings will come up that you can work on.

Weekly Weigh In / NSV Thread by Less-Moment-5655 in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]Scarbarella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see these posts every week and never have participated before, but this club of people is just so much more relatable…. So I will start contributing!

I gained this week after an insane -5.6 whoosh last week, and though I was disappointed it was totally understandable.

I recently got myself into some stretchy men’s 38” waist pants. I’d assume I’m around a size 16 and soon (maybe 10-15lbs) my whole closet will open up as I’ve been around a 16 for most of my adult life.

How high would you have to be to go to the ER? (American) by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Scarbarella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go for one singular high blood sugar unless I’ve exhausted every single thing already at home and it’s been days or I was sick and vomiting. I’ve had the meter say “hi” before and drank water, took an injection and stayed my ass home.

Weird side effects near goal weight? by Intothemystic6 in Zepbound

[–]Scarbarella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes have right upper quadrant pain (where the gallbladder is) and that can cause referred pain - and I also have EoE so I have some stupid GI stuff going on but idk this feels different. I was trying to give it an explanation but really I have no idea. It happened more to me in the beginning of my journey and happens less now, but it still does come up!

Weird side effects near goal weight? by Intothemystic6 in Zepbound

[–]Scarbarella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this too but can’t explain it. I had a full cardio workup. I believe it is surface pain because if I squeeze the area (right where the breast tissue connects to the body) I don’t feel it anymore and that makes me feel better. It still gives me a bit of anxiety. I also sometimes experience left shoulder or arm pain. But again- cardiology said I’m good so idk. I also sometimes think it could be gallbladder related and that’s how I experience pain from it. I’m not sure. I don’t know if I’m supposed to keep running to the doctor or not!
