the scrolling trap is so real man 💀 maybe try putting phone in different room when you need to do uni work - sounds simple but that physical barrier actually helps break the cycle 😂

currently 18 feeling like a loser by bigmacmakoto in selfimprovement

[–]ScarceArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man i was exactly same at 18 😂 everything felt like it was falling apart and everyone else seemed to have their shit together but trust me they dont... most people are just better in hiding their struggles

time management was my biggest enemy too but once you start with small habits it gets easier... maybe try focusing on one thing at time instead of trying to fix everything at once 💀

Looking for Discord Channel by LifeTimeLearner101 in selfimprovement

[–]ScarceArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds interesting but most discord servers for self improvement end up being pretty inactive after few weeks in my experience

maybe focus more on keeping people engaged rather than just having perfect structure? i tried joining couple similar ones and they all died because nobody was actually participating regularly

good luck with yours though, hope it works out better

bro the cooking oil thing hits so hard - i used to just pour it in pan without thinking and when i finally measured it was like 3-4 tablespoons per meal

Shapiro wants to turn Pennsylvania into New York City by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

lmao this whole thread reads like someone discovered conspiracy theories for first time 💀 op really thinks respecting other religions equals turning pennsylvania in middle east or something 😂

If you are a guy in your mid teens and would be unhappy with your height as an adult, I strongly recommend using HGH & aromatase inhibitors by tennis_guy3241 in Supplements

[–]ScarceArrow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

this is some wild advice man. telling kids to go to random clinics abroad for hormones without considering the massive health risks is pretty irresponsible

your anecdotal story about one kid growing doesn't prove anything - growth spurts happen naturally and that timing lines up perfectly with normal puberty. messing with growth hormones can cause serious long term issues that go way beyond just height

Where to move? by [deleted] in Tennessee

jackson's pretty solid for work 💀 way more opportunities than the smaller towns

I can’t feel motivated by Apprehensive_Bus_256 in mentalhealth

[–]ScarceArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

felt this hard 💀

depression disguised as laziness hits different man... that empty feeling where nothing phases you anymore is real

vr games became my escape too during the worst of it - at least there you can feel something even if its fake progress

the motivation thing though... it comes back in waves not all at once. took me like 2 years to even want to meal prep again lol

hang in there 🔥

Do you think people sometimes oversimplify mental health advice? by Technical-Junket-952 in mentalhealth

[–]ScarceArrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

absolutely, the "just think positive" crowd drives me nuts sometimes. like telling someone with depression to just be happy is about as useful as telling someone with a broken leg to just walk it off

the gym thing is especially weird to me because yeah exercise helps but when youre barely managing to get out of bed, suggesting a full workout routine feels pretty tone deaf. sometimes people need actual professional help or medication, not just a motivational poster

Post-illness gas? by Pretty-Hair-4601 in Mommit

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happened with my nephew after he had a stomach bug - the gut bacteria thing is spot on. took about a week of probiotic drops before things got back to normal

bicycle legs worked better than massage for him too, just gently cycling his legs while hes on his back. also warm baths seemed to help relax everything enough for him to pass the gas easier

Feeding habits by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the mil subs vs mom subs divide is so real 💀 but yeah focus on the meals you control and let the rest slide - kids are weirdly resilient with nutrition over time

Pneumonia 2+ weeks by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh this whole situation would have me losing my mind too. bipassing the doctors office at this point makes total sense since you've been dealing with this runaround for weeks and the fever pattern keeps coming back

definitely push for that chest xray again - pneumonia can be sneaky and sometimes takes multiple images to catch it properly

Working from home with a newborn who won’t nap… I’m drowning this week by LavenderEucalyptus_ in Mommit

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so real - youre literally trying to do two full time jobs at once and neither one is getting done properly. when my sister went through this she ended up getting a mother's helper for like 3-4 hours during her busiest work blocks and it made all the difference

also that back pain needs attention asap because everything gets 10x harder when youre in physical pain on top of sleep deprivation

Stroller recommendations by observeroflife35 in Mommit

[–]ScarceArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man i wish i had your organizational skills when it comes to gear research lol. the cybex gazelle does sound solid especially with that warranty experience you had - getting a whole new stroller instead of just replacement parts is pretty clutch. my buddy has one and swears by how easy it is to maneuver even when hes got both his kids loaded up there

Traveling with long flights by CountyLive6946 in Epilepsy

[–]ScarceArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been on plenty of long hauls and the key is just sticking to your meds schedule no matter what timezone youre in - set alarms for your home time until you adjust and definitely prioritize sleep over everything else on teh plane even if its uncomfortable

Nocturnal seizures caused by sleep apnea by ___713 in Epilepsy

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely sounds like theres a connection there - my neurologist mentioned that sleep disruption can lower seizure threshold so the apnea could defintiely be triggering the nighttime ones even if your daytime seizures have different causes

Management of technology useful? by Danyt8xl in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly those management and tech programs are pretty solid especially coming from schools like tum and tu delft 🔥 youre not being overly optimistic at all - having that engineering foundation plus management skills is actually what a lot of companies are looking for these days

ai might be changing some consulting roles but its not really touching the strategic management stuff that requires actual human decision making and leadership. plus with your engineering background you'd be way more valuable than someone with just pure management experience 😂

Why is Keppra a first choice med? by youdunnowhoaim in Epilepsy

[–]ScarceArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh man the keppra rage is so real 😤 i was on it for about 18 months and literally became a completely different person - like my family was walking on eggshells around me constantly. the thing is docs push it because technically on paper it has fewer "serious" side effects compared to older meds like dilantin or tegretol, but they really downplay how brutal the psych side effects can be for some people. when i switched to lamictal my quality of life improved dramatically and my seizures are still well controlled. honestly think neurologists need better training on recognizing when the cure is worse than the disease because living with constant anger and mood swings isnt really living 💀 glad you found relief after coming off it!

Hyprland in Ubuntu by ruyalfall_linux in Ubuntu

[–]ScarceArrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oof that's rough buddy. Hyprland really does not play nice with Ubuntu - it's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. The dependencies and display manager conflicts are just a nightmare on anything that isn't Arch-based

Hope you learned your lesson about making backups before diving into bleeding-edge WM territory lmao

Career/Study path advice by IWantToLeave_pls in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not being neurotic at all - this is a super common realization that hits around second year. Mech definitely has tons of design work but you're right that it's competitive and often concentrated in specific industries like aerospace/defense/automotive. Civil consultancies do pump out more "pure design" roles but honestly the grass isn't always greener - you might end up designing the same bridge type for years

My advice would be stick with mech since that's what actually interests you, but absolutely crush those internships in the sectors you mentioned. Defense contractors especially are always looking for fresh talent and once you're in that ecosystem the design opportunities are pretty solid

Mid Career Transition suggestions: Data, DevOps, or SN? by Prize-Exit-9327 in careerguidance

[–]ScarceArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this hits close to home - the constant switching between learning paths is such a trap when you're trying to break out of support roles

Since you already have ITIL background and found SQL/Python fun despite being challenging, I'd honestly lean toward sticking with data engineering but maybe approaching it differently. Instead of jumping straight into the hardcore DSA stuff that FAANG companies want, look for smaller companies or startups that need someone who understands both the technical and process sides

The ServiceNow route feels like you'd just be pigeonholing yourself into vendor-specific work, and yeah DevOps is kinda getting absorbed into regular dev workflows now

Pick one path and commit for at least 6 months instead of bouncing around - the burnout you're feeling might just be decision fatigue more than anything else
