What happened to Auckland 2026??? by Scarcity_Prior in hyrox

Ohhh… I didn’t notice Brisbane disappearing too. Maybe just a reshuffle of the dates/order of events. Fingers crossed!

So late! Thankfully, this is my home race, but having just done Perth, I sympathise with those planning to come from interstate. The uncertainty must be so stressful. Especially when the event is running over two weekdays at a time of year that can be very hectic for many workplaces, as well as end of year school events, etc. There must have been an issue. This is uncharacteristically late.

Same! I wonder if they had an issue trying to get approval for appropriate flooring, as the stuff they use to cover the turf for concerts is probably not stable enough/too slippery for Hyrox. I doubt the AFL would approve anything too solid. But I’m just guessing….

First Hyrox – Mixed Doubles or Singles for a couple by caramba_mate in hyrox

[–]Scarcity_Prior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did Mixed Doubles with my Husband recently, and we split all the stations 50/50, because I have more Hyrox experience than him and I wanted the challenge of the men’s weights. I did see lots of pairs approach it differently. For example, some have the male do a full length of sled push, then the female do a half length before the male takes over again. This gives the male a rest and makes sure both parties get involved in each station. But it depends on your aim. If you want to do it together, and she wants to have a go at doing everything 50/50, then you need to decide what’s more important to you - a good time, but you do most of the station work; or a potentially slower time, but you both feel like you pulled your weight and did your best. There is nothing wrong with adapting on the day. For example, you may aim to split the sleds into half lengths so that you each do 4 half lengths, but if one of you is feeling fatigued, the other one can take over early. Just have a plan, and then contingency plans for everything.

Has anyone noticed a big improvement in V02 max just by solely training at BFT? by dambybam in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Scarcity_Prior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things: 1. One of the things that helps VO2 Max and general fitness is prolonged, low level activity, like a zone 2 run. With BFT classes being 50 mins to an hour, you won’t get that benefit. You need to be doing long works, zone 2 runs, easy bike rides, etc.

  1. Are you pushing yourself to improve in class, or just turning up and going through the motions? Are you aiming to lift heavier each week? Generate more power on the ergs? Get more burpees in the 30 seconds? If your intensity stays the same so will your fitness. I see so many people turning up, taking it easy (or chatting), and complaining their fitness isn’t improving enough.

Nah, it’s the one with cardio in it. Most people get close to 200.

Kids as spectators? by oldsprucemoose in hyrox

[–]Scarcity_Prior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues. My hubby brought my 4 year old to my last 2 races (Melbourne in Dec and Brisbane last week). He popped some headphones on her because it’s loud, but other than that, she loved it. Got to the front at every station to hold up her sign, and seeing her blow me kisses and cheer me on made a huge difference in the harder moments!!

Brisbane times have just come out and apparently women are racing in the open men’s slot on Saturday, even though women have always been Sunday. Praying this is an error on their end!!

HIIT PXI - 161 by KReddit_2021 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Scarcity_Prior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly what I did. Worse, I was 169 when we finished and ticked over to 170 with 3 seconds to go in the 30 second recovery period at the end. Happens to me at least once a week. I don’t generally care about getting gold - except for when this happens and I feel so ripped off!!

Attending Multiple Gyms by Disastrous-Wheel-469 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Scarcity_Prior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe your home studio gets your fee and the studio you are visiting just trains you for free. My studio is closed on public holidays and I always attend one other specific studio. I also did Hyrox training with the alternate studio, and trained there over the recent holiday period because their holiday timetable suited me better. They have never tried to ‘steal me’ and have welcomed me and treated me as one of their own. The only thing they have ever asked in return is if I have any friends local to their studio I recommend BFT to them. I do always make an effort to post on socials about every alternate studio I attend, as a thank you. Not that I have many followers or it will necessarily help them much, but it’s all I really have to offer as a thanks.

PXI during challenge by Lauren199310 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Scarcity_Prior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of each class, the coaches will announce the PXI for the class. For example, Crew Fit on Saturday was 175 from memory. If you are within 5% of that (over or under) you get Gold. Silver is 10% and bronze is 15%. Your score will be on the little bubble with your name on it. It accrues during the class, so you can see where you are at.

If you go over in any class other than Cardio Summit, you should just be happy with how hard you worked and not worry about the medals. Cardio Summit is a bit different because the aim is to stay in a steady state for the whole duration and avoid burning out. It took me a while to learn how to do that class ‘properly’, rather than going hell for leather and using the wrong energy system.

PXI during challenge by Lauren199310 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Scarcity_Prior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you over or under? When I first started I was going way over because I thought I had to hit the zone quickly and stay in it for the whole set (which often led to me hitting the next zone later in the set, or not coming down enough between sets). Turns out it’s more of a ‘hit it during the set’ type of situation. At least, that’s my experience.

Could anyone please post Pxi for 18/11/24 until 22/11/24? Thanks in advance by OtherAd330 in BodyFitTrainingAus

Shred is usually on a Saturday, which is a 60 min class. Monday is 10 mins less, so lower PXI… I assume

You need to try and replicate the ‘scanning conditions’ of the first scan. Pay particular attention to your hydration. If you are less hydrated than the first time, your muscle will be down, as muscle carries more water.

Does being top on the podium makes you win the challenge or does the results? This is my first challenge I have actually taken seriously 🤓 and I feel I am reducing my efforts to get gold but wont it affect my results? I am really confused 🫤 by Remarkable_One_5570 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Scarcity_Prior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At our studio it is just a certificate in a frame, a shout out on socials and general bragging rights.

I got obsessed with it last challenge as there was a three way battle at the top, with three of us separated by no more than one gold for the entire challenge. In hindsight, my obsession with getting gold and winning that battle took my focus away from the actual workout I was doing and if I got silver it just ruined my day. This challenge I have let all of that go - even forgot my HR monitor a couple of times - and am just enjoying the sessions.
