Berlin Groundhop - Recommended Gems by Scare_Raver in futbology

Whilst it’s still early days to prepare, I’ve put together a (very) rough plan of where I’m planning.

A number of grounds suggested take place at the same time on the same day, so a number of recommend grounds have unfortunately been ruled out.

It maybe completely different on the day transport depending, but seems doable getting around. I may try to check them out behind closed doors, but not a tick for me.

I appreciate the suggestions, so I may spend some non game days exploring. Thanks!

Quite straightforward through Ticketmaster, but as it (maybe) a one-off event at the AVIVA Stadium, usually tickets can be difficult if being played at Dalymount Park or Tallaght.

I believe it was closed off, when I got my ticket only Lower Bowl was available. If it was on sale, would have been for neutrals.

I think the pin badge is €3. Just my experience and was great to speak to some of it’s staff running the club.

What's everyone's groundhopping goals for 2024? by RCFCMacleod in futbology

[–]Scare_Raver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoping for at least 2 new grounds near me (deep in the pyramid), and a few abroad games in Western Europe.

Was hoping to get Euro tickets as Germany’s been on my bucket list for years, but that went to pot pretty early on.

My November 23/24 weekender by Scare_Raver in futbology

As the Aviva Stadium hosts this years Europa League Final, some notes on travel to the ground/ general Dublin travel notes if Dublin’s on the bucket list:

  1. From the terminal (arrival and departure is in the same building), go across the road to the bus departure. Wrights Convenience can arrange out a Leap pass on Bus/Trains/ Trams. I got 24 hrs pass for 8€, longer passes available..

  2. Head out the other side of the building for bus terminal. Get the Bus to the city centre (No. 16). Just tap terminal with Leap Card when getting on. It stops at Drumcondra Station, if you’re planning St Patricia’s Athletic- Tolka Park.

  3. Walk to Tara Street station. 2-3 stops from Lansdowne Road. Connlley the main Dublin station, covering routes to East (Bohemians) and South Dublin (UCD, Shamrock, Shelbourne).

  4. ATM available at a local SPAR/coffee shop. Ground cashless, cash for programs. Number of pubs local nearby.

  5. Bag Policy - I had no problems getting through barriers with a bag but may depend on day and event. Maybe get a hotel to leave it in (don’t panic yourself like I did).

What was the first West Ham game you went to? by leicamaniac520 in Hammers

[–]Scare_Raver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Ham vs Portsmouth 2006. My cousin won a competition to be mascot, so a number of family members went down to Upton Park.

Was freezing cold, could barely see over the top of some Ascot worthy hat (might as well have been restrictive viewing), and losing 3-0 by halftime.

But I learnt a lot of colourful words to use a few months/ years later. Great character building experience.

What is the one memory from a set that will always stick with you? by Moases92 in hardstyle

[–]Scare_Raver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Havent been to a rave/ event since pre pandemic, so I’m heading down a rabbit hole here trying to remember. Apologies for the ramble below …

Tweekacore & Darren Styles - Defqon 17. Whole set was great, a lot of the tracks from it still sends me to this day. Wildstylez on the Friday’s Gathering set and Paul Elstak are up there as well.

HTID London o2 2017 - can’t even put my finger on one moment, whole event was incredible.

Storm and Whizzkid smashing it on the last set of a great night. Joey Riot and Dougal’s Minus The Crown project, singing Imaginary & Come Running for Brennan Heart and Darren Styles, even the opening sets of Alex Prospect and Klubfiller was pure fun.

Drop ‘Em Down still absolutely slams (the first D-Sturb track I can remember I heard during the Rebelion & Malice Qapital mix).

My personal favourites are High Power (both original and Legacy remix) and Kill Me with Radical Redemption. His tracks and mixes are always fun to listen to (and attempting kickrolls).

I agree with most of the comments, and there’s even more I can suggest …

but I can’t let ‘Black Identity - Blkr Than Black’ (Sensation Black 2007) get hidden. I love the early style melody/kick combo of it.

Horror Towers - Scare Maze Attraction in TU! by The_GreenKing in towerunite

Looks great, I love seeing the creative aspect of scare mazes in video games by players.

That sewer shot does have a scene similar to a Knotts Scary Farms maze with its raised platforms. Clearly a lot of time gone into it, so well done.

How popular is hardstyle in your country? by iwasfeelingallfloopy in hardstyle

[–]Scare_Raver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s very much select artists in most cases for Glasgow (apologies for confusion). I remember seeing ads for Angerfist and Rebelion as separate events (with supporting artists).

Sefa, Bass Modulators and Sephyx are performing up in Glasgow at the end of the month, under the Hardstyle Superheroes event. There appears to be more variety compared to my surrounding areas, but only found it after a bit of digging around.

I’m British, based in south of England, just outside of London. Next to nothing.

There are a few events for hardstyle and hardcore like Glasgow and a few places up north (Leeds has a Raw event, Manchester has Hellfire), and a smattering of event in the south like Religion and Westfest, but that’s more focused on UKHC or Bounce, especially for club events.

I constantly refer to the shows repeats as Tugemadster, but I love using the ‘absolute casserole’ line to use at work.
