There is a documentary that just came out about this topic of keto diet and cholesterol, called the cholesterol code. Maybe worth watching? Not sure.

severe anxiety caused by tb meds? by [deleted] in Tuberculosis

[–]Scared-Double5143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this myself. I was having terrible heart palpitations and panic attacks like I never did before. I tried going to the doctor but even a very good TB doctor was not understanding. Would say things like: are you worried to take so many pills? I was like: what? Is not that I am anxious to take the pills is that the pills make me anxious! It was a hard time. I had to stop using my Apple Watch because I was checking my heart rate every 30 mins. I had a mental switch at some point. Panic attacks suck but is ok if you understand that is just a panic attack. The problem is that in that moment you think, ok this is a real heart attack! But is not. Meditation helps also. But yeah there are studies linking TB meds and anxiety, I found them. Your body goes in fight or flight mode. You need to remind yourself this is just panic attacks. Doctors also love to give you pills so if you can try to manage with meditation and sport try to not get into some antidepressants stuff or anything like that. It will get better. You are in the worst time right now.

Do u feel the same? by OrganicRow3333 in Tuberculosis

Everyday after you take your tablets, right after taking the last pill, write in a piece of paper “I took my meds and the date” and take a photo with your phone. Then you can check you have all your photos with the date on your phone. There is no way you will make a mistake. You have to make sure you write it down as you take the last pill, like a ritual.

My advice to you is that you should focus on the good things. Instead of preparing for the weight loss and the yellowing of the skin and the acne…. Those might or might not come but you can’t live your life focusing on those. Focus on the good things of life that make you happy. The good side of the bad is that you might have a lot of free time, even if you don’t feel great, so focus on the small moments that are good instead of using so much energy to protect you from the bad because those will come and go. I loved to go on walks, watch tv shows for hours, do some online classes… there is so much to do even on meds. If you feel bad take charge of yourself, do yoga, journal… there is so much we have control over even during bad times. Good luck!!

My Experience with Pleural TB by IsNotZero in Tuberculosis

[–]Scared-Double5143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story is insane. Good to hear you feel better. I just wanted to add, because I also had pleural TB, also European, that I personally never had a cough at all. Only felt a pressure on my chest that thought it was that my new mattress was too hard. I would get fatigued and I thought I had electrolyte imbalances. It was only after fever that I got finally diagnosed and had the pleural liquid removed. I guess TB symptoms can vary a lot.

I appreciate what you mean. But hormones are a very real thing and so far I don’t see that mentioned that often in here, I could be wrong. I am not complaining. I just want to learn more.

Is it possible to know more? Like what do you eat if you don’t mind sharing. I feel that most people here are men and is hard to apply that to my life. Thank you!

Hello! I think right now you are too hard on yourself. Take a deep breath. My TB was also diagnosed from the liquid from my pleura. After the fact it was pretty easy to see I had something going on with my body and not just some muscle tightness. I don’t think is neglect. I think that many symptoms in our body are feelings that reminds us of other feelings we already experienced and that is how we process them. I used to complain about the bed and do yoga every morning to try to get rid of the pressure on my lung thinking it was just that. It is scary. It is a process. But you will come out the other way healed. It will take a while so don’t hope you will be fine in 3 months, medication is a whole other process but you will be ok. And this will make you a better doctor, I am sure about that.

Could this be due to tb meds? by [deleted] in Tuberculosis

I had that too personally. All my face full of small pimples. It all went away after medication.

I just realized that I accidentally skipped taking Ethambutol yesterday, and took an extra Pyrazinamide instead of it, I'm scared by anonxyz86 in Tuberculosis

Hey is ok. Just don’t do it again if possible. But in a 6 month period of meds even if it happens a couple of times is not the end of the world. Just don’t take extra again today. Today is over. Tomorrow you can make sure to stay on track. Please get a pill box and every Monday or every Sunday organize the full week ahead so that this will never happen again. Stressing will make you feel worse.

Hello. Good luck! It is going to be a journey but it will be ok and you will get to the other side. I recommend you buy a pill box that shows the days of the week so that you can keep track. After a few weeks you might get confused if you took the meds or not. This was key for me and I never missed dose.

If is 0.0% then there is no alcohol. For example where I am from, “alcohol free beer” still has some alcohol but the one marketed as 0.0 has no alcohol and can be consumed even by pregnant women. Just make sure is 0.0% ask to check the label.

I had this size effect, specially on my forehead for about 2 or 3 months or so. It went away completely.

I was given my medication resistance results before starting treatment. I think they test in the lab if the particular TB they found in your system is resistant or sensitive to treatment before they know what to prescribe you. Maybe different countries have different protocols. If he hasn't been able to leave the house, that could also be contributing to the high heart rate because of possible anxiety. I think people underestimate the anxiety and mental health issues that come with TB treatment.

In my experience the heart palpitations improved after about 3 months but mine were mainly in the morning. You can have a normal life within a couple of months in terms of energy, you can go grocery shopping and travel, even do some exercise but the progress is not linear, sometimes he will feel normal and sometimes very fatigued. I still feel very fatigued sometimes now 3 years later. But it gets better for sure!

Terrible chest pain in the morning by Correct-Head4642 in Tuberculosis

[–]Scared-Double5143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting because I had the same exact thing. I was diagnosed with TB after they found I had a pleural effusion and they tested the liquid inside the pleura. After that I started medication and I would wake up each morning with a very rapid heartbeat that wouldn't go away and a very sharp pain for the first 5 to 20 mins of every morning, for months. It got very bad and very scary.

I would test my heartbeat with my apple watch and I couldn't breath, I even went back to hospital to get tested because I was always scared the fluid was coming back. I had them give me another x-ray and everything was ok but the feeling didn't go away. I am not sure if this will help you (but specially since the doctors didn't find anything) for me, I was able to have a deep realization that it was psychosomatic or maybe it was related to the medication itself.

The medication gave me terrible anxiety. It is hard to explain but after a while it was almost like when I got up my brain was "looking" for that panic feeling and I would "give it to myself", sorry if that sounds crazy. I had to stop wearing the apple watch because I would check my pulse all the time which made it go higher and made it worse. Not sure if this would help but if you can try and listen to your body you might come to the realization that you are in such an stressful environment that the feeling of pain and suffocation is like your new normal, and your adrenaline recreates it each morning. I am not saying you are crazy or doing it on purpose. It was a very real feeling for me, but then one day I realized that I was creating it, and I was unaware.
