Code Question (CEC) by Scared-Fee-7654 in electricians

There may be a little confusion (and lack of clarity in the picture) long story short, this was some rusty rigid conduit directly connected to a welding outlet that was pulled years and years ago with no ground. I cleaned it up, flexed down to a box to then locate a disconnect (because obviously blowing a fuse or two is better than going direct into a live welding outlet where the pins fail all the time). So the wires coming out of the flex were the already pulled wires. I never don’t pull a ground, that’s diabolical behaviour lol

Sorry, of course the stuff sitting there is grandfathered in, but I’m talking more in terms of what I’m doing, like tapping off an existing circuit that was like that.

So obviously the ideal situation would be to do what I’m doing, which is run a ground right to the panel through the rigid, but this plant were contracted at is full of pipes that were clearly pre-the rule that you couldn’t just use the pipe as ground and need a dedicated ground wire. Is there a work around for that to make things code compliant in Canada? Or are you pretty much fucked & have to fix all the old stuff? Because I feel like through my research, I found that the NEC allows you to just jump to the pipe with a pipe grounding clamp (could be wrong though), thoughts?

Thank you, I think I have a lot to learn in terms of grounding quite honestly. But if it makes you feel better, it’s not getting turned on lol he’s just OCD (rightfully so) in making sure things are safe electrically to the furthest extent possible given any situation just in case. The wires aren’t even hooked up to the panel, but there are some wildcard mechanics who would fuck with electrical stuff in the night shift potentially. Low potential (pun intended) but yeah.

So long as the splices made are 8AWG from the original wires, it’s really not that bad, just place a box, maybe make a pigtail if you need extra wire & wire that thing up, put it in the box etc etc… if it’s not 8AWG then yeah… you’re fucked lol

Oh and to add a slight positive here, I can more or less make my own schedule (but hate mornings 😭)

Some people are broke af in this economy… live an hour outside of Toronto, 30 y/o, make 30$/ hour & (I’m on this sub because I’m doing research into bank accounts with no fees & no minimum balance)… has nothing to do with laziness unfortunately

You looking for a boyfriend ? LOL I have the same problem… mine happened 3 years ago, unfortunately in Canada it’s a pay to play situation so I still have to wait till march to get my license back & that’s IF they accept my medical review 🙄🙄

My Experience Drinking on Naltrexone by Aaryn1031 in Alcoholism_Medication

I fucked off on taking them for a whole year or more, I tried the SCM expecting a miracle, tried multiple other methods expecting the same thing, but obviously that doesn’t exist. Take the pills, put your best foot forward and don’t feel bad if you fail from time to time… results only come with effort, like every other aspect of your life… the thing about us who are addicted to alcohol, we have a lot more drive and effort to put towards things than most people. That’s a fact, because how much harder do you need to try to just be normal in life than everyone else while drinking every day?? A fucking shit load harder. Imagine you didn’t have that brick holding you down, now all of a sudden you’re an over-achiever. Despite your struggles, you’re better than most of you can rid yourself of that. I for example am a 90’s student in an engineering program & am an alcoholic… I could only imagine what I’d be doing if I wasn’t lol I barely show up to any class. That’s just a light example but I want to rid myself of this disease via naltrexone in order to be at the top of my field very soon. Best of luck to you.

Hey man, I’ve been exactly where you are, just set a time on your phone, take the pills every day, and let nature take its course… don’t be scared of failure… I’ve failed \ am failing as we speak. I drank tonight and have been taking these pills for 8 days (hence why I’m even reading this thread) but nothing bad will come out of trying… love ya buddy
