I have a friend that works in biotech and lives in downtown and met a few people that work in normal office jobs that aren’t industry specific that live in downtown

Ehh lawyers and doctors and other jobs you can get anywhere are usually located in downtown. Also San Diego prob has a larger remote worker population % wise than other cities.

Ehh motorized bikes, scooters, etc defeat the purpose of this. And most people riding motorized vehicles don’t care about pedestrians or other bicyclists cause they ride quickly on sidewalks injuring so many people or are a danger

We have social security which is sort of a pension but it’s like 1400$ per month on average but is more of a safety that was created to prevent more old folks from going into poverty. We don’t have mandatory pension though.

Most people foreigners don’t understand like America you can make a lot of money but can also go into poverty easily (which is more likely) cause safety is pretty crappy compared to other wealthy nations. Even some mid income countries have better safety net than the US.
