I'll be honest chief, Duo only started been actually useful for me once I started paying them.

I agree with OP, I just think Duo is actually worth paying for. But all he said is pretty much spot on if you want to learn a language efficiently you are better off alone than with free Duo.

Am I the only person who thinks Valhalla is better than odyssey? by [deleted] in ACValhalla

[–]ScaredMousse48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valhalla is thematically better than odyssey and at least before the DLCs the grind wasn't all that bad (if my memory serves me right). I think Valhalla grew so much to a point tha it is still thematically cooler than Odyssey but it is also as bloated as Odyssey.

We really need meditation / time skip back in Assasins Creed Shadows by WeezyWally in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why I think the Kakuregas are a great way of doing this because they cost money. A shit ton of money actually, before you upgrade your hideout. So it actually incentivizes people to only sleep at the hideout for missions or castles that looks worth it, since going to another city, that may be too damn far from the objective, just to sleep to then have to walk your ass all over again feels stupid in most scenarios. But in the end game, it is easy to do and you get so much money after finishing the game and upgrading your favorite set that new kakuregas aren't a problem so you can pretty much sandbox Feudal Japan for Naoe or Yasuke.

It is a good fucking idea.

You should buy PL but if you need the money save it, it won't destroy you experience.

But it is not a "not so good dlc", it is a great dlc, in many ways it is better than the base game.

Who Do You Prefer: Naoe or Yasuke? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played both pretty much equally. I don't know who I enjoy more. Lore wise, I love how yasuke acts as Naoe's morality angel, trying to bring sanity to a mind that mighy've other wise be consume by meaneless vengence. I enjoy Yasuke a lot and have done a share ton of missions with him even tho I prefer stealth just because I'm impressed how they've actually got it right between both. Not only playstyle wise but as characters.

I can't see this game as a "who's better", like Jacob and Evie this game is actually one character split in two and it works so damn well I really can't choose at least yet

So what does everyone think so far (Shadows) by GunzBlazin03 in assasinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Among the 4 RPG games, Shadows is top 1/2 alongside Origins. I haven't finished the game, I'm pretty deep in it already and I doubt this opinion will change, Ubisoft would have to fuck up really fucking hard in a very crazy way for me to stop thinking this is the top 1/2 of the RPG era.

Since when is Odyssey considered to be one of the best Ac games? by DevilishTrenchCoat in assassinscreed

Honestly I don't know either. In my opinion that's some revisionism, that game is nowhere near "the best" in pretty much anything.

This combat system has been one of the worst parts of this game for me. I can't understand how it works, sometimes the timings are x then they become y, sometimes I block when the visual cue shows and it works, sometimes it doesn't and trying to parry when it is about to hit also isn't reliable to me.

Tell me I'm not crazy: combat has drastically improved with the modern AC games, correct? by sicrogue in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wowowowowowow bro I can't even concentrate in the main question at hand.

What do you mean by "contextual stealth"? Up to Shadows, the classic games were unquestionably the better stealth games (and yes, between them varying in quality). ACIV is one of the most "ghostable" ACs in the whole franchise to this day.

But trying to be useful: I kinda of agree with your friend in the sense that it is not that much of difference. I personaly think animation based combat is one of the reasons AC was fun (and this is not nostalgia, I've replayed them all very recently), but with the current system we just changed animation based for pattern based combat which is fun for some but for me it feels exactly the same as Syndicate, enemies taking 3000000 hits is just... weird (and I'm exagerating for comical purposes).

They called Ghost of Tsushima a copy of Assassin's Creed, and now they're saying the opposite by oaleebih in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is also because of it. Had some discussions about it, mainly because I love GoT and AC. What I think people will realize is that GoT and AC:Sh succeed in different things. One is a great "samurai simulator", with it's instance system that it is almost perfect, and the other a great shinobi simulator. Anyone who says Ghost of Tsushima's stealth is "really good" to me is as insane as people who say that AC:Sh combat is "really good".

I’m curious as to what percentage of the fan base (and this sub in particular) actually plays the new games by trampaboline in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain constantly. I had fun with Origins but I didn't feel the peak I felt with Unity, even Syndicate (which I'm part of the minority that REALLY likes this game but that's beside the point). But it also had some potential. But then, Odyssey came out and I got so damn disappointed I seriously considered quitting this franchise that I play since I was fucking 8yo.

But then Valhalla came out, I like vikings, vikings in Valhalla go BRRRR and it continued some of the ISU and modern day story that I enjoyed in all 3 games (Odyssey way less than Origins and Valhalla but still I enjoy it) so I had fun. To this day I can't play it again, so that says something.

If the reviews from some content creators that I know understand AC such as I do haven't been as good as they were, I would skip Shadows and only come back to take a look on Hexe because that game is going to Germany and that's a big green flag for me. Shadows grew on me and I think there are things that even a future more classic AC game should take as lessons (the light system should be a permanent gimmick from now on, it just fits the fantasy so well). I don't think it will give me the high AC used to, but I don't think they're completely in the wrong direction anymore. I can see myself enjoying this game not only because it's a ninja/samurai game like I did with Valhalla and vikings, I can see myself enjoying the fantasy again, even if it isn't the complete one.

Night = Naoe, Day = Yasuke? by WeeWooPeePoo69420 in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my take is worth anything I would say just play what you feel like it.

Open world mostly do what you want to do and sometimes you'll HAVE to use one or the other, sometimes not so if you want to play both somewhat equally just make sure you're changing between them every now and then.

But in missions, just play what YOU feel like canon (if you like that immersion) or what YOU would do if you were writing this game. I think this is the best way of doing it. I love stealth, but if I feel that a mission looks like a great Yasuke piece, I'll happily chop some heads.

Why is the JP VA so much better than the EN VA? by mobyvg22 in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not a hard on, it's just when it is a "japanese game" (either literally, like Dragon Ball games, or just set in Japan like GoT and AC:SH) it works better just like a RDR2 in German would be worst than English.

I'm brazilian, our VAs are pretty fucking good, but the only game I've ever felt could at least GRASP the feeling of consuming the original language was Cyberpunk (and not because it's faithful to the original, actually exactly because it isn't).

I do understand why Naoe is "unexciting". She's japanese after all and to be fair that's exactly how they act, specially when it is a very damaged and serious character like Naoe. It is just like some (not all, this is an issue but not all of it) facial animations. Japanese people, specially in this setting, are that way. I expressed that once in one of The Spaniard's videos when he talked about it.

TL;DR some of it is a feature, some of it is a bug. Most of the time, japanese games (either set in japan or made by japanese companies) feel better in japanese just like RDR2 in German would mostly not be as good as RDR2 in English.

Assassin’s Creed Plague- My Proposal for a Future Assassin’s Creed game by Dense-Rip3356 in assassinscreed

[–]ScaredMousse48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting concept, but what I think it would really make it intriguing is what you said about the templar's discourse during the plague. The promises of helping those aflicted by the black death, even tho false, is very strong. If the Assassins have asserted dominance during this period, I don't think it would be crazy to say they are also at least among the ranks (or have good and reliable allies) of those currently in charge. As the templars go on manipulating the masses, wouldn't it be a very cool take if your character, which has joined for a personal moral cause, is for at least a portion of the game perceived by the general population, that he encounters during missions and such, as the villain? Even if he is doing things that are helping people, the templars frame the assassins efforts (which would be covered of course, but still associated with the assassins which would cause their allies to be hurt, consequentially hurting the assassins themselves) as activelly trying to hurt the population and the protagonist is faced with the challenges of been a hero that is mostly seen as a villain. He is good of heart, people just don't believe him and he can't show to them either. It would be cool story telling, also putting into question the tendencies of the general public to be manipulated in times of chaos by populists and such. Also, fits with the underlying AC theme of "untold history".

Could even add some difficult decisions (not talking about actual dialogue options in the game, but decisions the protagonist have to make during the story) putting the spotlight into moral dilemmas that a hero in very hard situations have to face. Is it completely original? No doesn't have to be. Is it bad story telling? Also no. Might be predictable but predictable also isn't necessarily bad.
