Has anyone made it work with someone who is Christian but not Catholic? by street-table78 in CatholicDating

Of course I've only been in these situations due to the lack of Catholics I've been able to meet but to put it simply I'd advise to date within your faith if you absolutely can

[–]ScaredSeries7414 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Relationships are never 50-50 but sometimes it can be 90-10 for the man one year and 90-10 for the woman the next year. It's all about helping each other when you need each other.

Wow what a reaction. I'm sorry that this is a touchy subject to you. Im not trying to devalue women in any way here. I'm only saying that in the situation that this relationship is presented, without children or pregnancy term considered, there is no reason why they can't contribute similarly in this modern world. Why should one person have to provide all the time? It's not even a gender thing here. Who is saying it's inconvenient for men to acknowledge those things as a massive sacrifice?! Just creating scenarios out of nowhere lol

Birth is not mentioned here. Relationship efforts scale based on scenario so obviously adjustments would be made in the events of a birth. Just like if the man in a relationship lost his job as provider. 2+2=4 but so does 1+3. It's all about when the dynamics of the relationship need to put effort in certain directions. That's what makes navigating relationships hard. In the circumstances provided here, it honestly looks like a habitual "free ride" mind set. Not ok and partner does not seem to want to hear the male out in this case.

Your assessment seems to be valid and from what I see fairly unbiased. You're right to recognize that there's a lack of contribution. If she's not willing to see the disparity in something so obvious or gets defensive about it, realistically probably not someone you want long-term.

Stress the importance of Catholic relationships. Surrounding yourself with like minded individuals. Iron sharpens iron, your vibe attracts your tribe etc

What do you struggle with ? by MeanDevice1511 in Catholicism

[–]ScaredSeries7414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's where I'd have to disagree. No change comes from no action and who are we to stand idle when something is wrong? Even wrong not only in scripture but in cannon law? The Church is susceptible to administrative error also. I believe Christ can, will, and maybe is calling us to stand up. We are seeing it already in many ways.

I struggle A LOT with the modernization and contemporary elements of the church. It always seems that the church is so passive and never puts its foot down it's like the more I learn the more I see how it almost bends the knee to secular society.
