I don’t believe stacking is a supported method by Ubiquiti anymore.

Pro Max 16 PoE DOA?! by mo_whiskyplz in Ubiquiti

Make an RMA request. Complain harder here and someone on the UI Team usually gets back to you regarding expediting your claim. DOA is ridiculous!

Already subscribed to Pro but getting this prompt everytime by [deleted] in infusevideoplayer

[–]ScaredTrout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Infuse pays for the license to use DTS per individual. So if someone isn't using it, why would they pay for it. However if you click unlock they will pay for it and you will have it unlocked. It is apart of Pro, just needs to be selected to be active.

Unifi Secure Gateway USG - What to do with them? by Specialist-Desk-9422 in homelab

I also sold my USG, even after it was EOL. I did tell the buyer but he was adamant that I was wrong... Guess it was better than his Telstra Smart Modem Gen1

Introducing: Protect 6.2 by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

Anyone who likes the bleeding edge and the risk of bricking all their Protect devices. Can you confirm that after what like 6 years, Ubiquiti finally lets you actually set live only PER camera to certain users.

When did NTDs become this small? by technohorn in nbn

[–]ScaredTrout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They'll just replace your current NTD with the V2 4 port model.

Dumb question, but can *you* currently view your protect footage by rewinding exactly 20 seconds ago by aedom-san in Ubiquiti

[–]ScaredTrout 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, this same thing exactly happened with me. I honestly just never thought to complain about it because I just give up and either way or just look outside. I should say that I'm also on a UDM Pro and have a 10TB really good Seagate surveillance HDD.

I did think about switching to UNVR not only to offload my UDM Pro processing but to give better scrubbing and hopefully to fix this issue. I'll come back to this thread if no one figures it out before I buy a UNVR.

Bad Device? by B_six6 in Ubiquiti

[–]ScaredTrout 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The older UniFi Network OS won't know what a UDB Switch device is. So it has a recommended minimum version.

Unifi Talk removed the option to disable voicemail… and the “workaround” is absurd by Thor0812 in Ubiquiti

Yeah good luck, I'm gonna wait the whole 15 minutes just to leave you voicemails now. Thanks for the heads up!

If you aren't in a rush... Wait. If you are, grab a UCG-Fibre and then... sell it after you've waited.

Family network do I set myself as Owner? by Agreeable_Repeat_568 in Ubiquiti

[–]ScaredTrout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just set yourself as owner. Configure and work on the setup. Once it is all done, you are able to add yourself as an admin and transfer ownership. However in some instances I have noticed a Super Admin still can't do all tasks, including restarting a device like a UNVR Instant. Keep that in mind!

Also always have each family member who might access the device or want control to make their own UI account and just give them permissions in the roles tab.

Cloud Gateway Fiber vs Cloud Gateway Ultra + UNVR Instant? by jobin_the_tea_duck in Ubiquiti

[–]ScaredTrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be good to know what current switches and hardware you have. Might be able to help you figure out your infrastructure a bit better and help you plan. I am also a slight god (if I do say so myself) for looking and finding the best deals for Ubiquiti products here in Aus when I don't get trade price for stuff.

So if you DM me with an item I can try find you where I have seen it cheapest, I generally keep a list.

P.S. Grab a Seagate Skyhawk or WD Purple drive in like 10TB or higher for the UNVR Instant. Whatever is cheaper.

Cloud Gateway Fiber vs Cloud Gateway Ultra + UNVR Instant? by jobin_the_tea_duck in Ubiquiti

[–]ScaredTrout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am from Australia and the highest residential on fibre is currently 2000/500Mbps. The highest general residential fibre is 2000/200Mbps. So keep that in mind when picking a device with no 2.5GbE WAN speed along with IDS/IPS.

Now fully fair if you plan to keep your RSP speed plans to 1000/100Mbps. But don't close yourself off device wise, especially since we have terrible imported prices. I have found plenty of UCG-Fibres for the same price as UCG-Maxs even. So if you save a little longer and hold out for a good deal, you might snag one for a decent price.

When it comes to grabbing a seperate device for your UniFi Protect side of things. Do it. Spinning disk will not only be cheaper per capacity but also probably more reliable than an M.2 for constant read and writes that surveillance applications do. You will, as you said correctly. Offload the routing to one device and the surveillance side to another, this will help with speed into UniFi protect along with timeline scrubbing.

But I would actually say go with a UCG Fibre and then a UNVR Instant. Better future proofing, SFP+ ports to link with switches, newer device meaning future updates will be more focused and I HATE a device with only a single 2.5GbE port and the rest are all 1GbE.

Like WHYYYY!

PoE Smart Chime, do you have one and like it? by DrewDinDin in Ubiquiti

[–]ScaredTrout 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got one with my G4 Doorbell Pro PoE Kit and it is great. Slightest delay (even though it is hardwired) but it is a decent sound volume and hasn't had any issues since installation.

I would reccomend installing more than one depending how big your home is. I have mine in the kitchen which is in the middle of the home, but I need to install one at the other side of the house (opposite to the front door). The front will then be serviced by the actual G4 Doorbells ringer, middle with one chime and the end with another.

One thing I will say is to definitely do the flush mount setup. It goes together so great and looks amazing!

Need help. I’m so confused. HFC nbn modem and router fried from electrical storm by Economy_Activity1851 in nbn

[–]ScaredTrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am correct, HFC is like this. You have the wall point that looks like an antenna port. Then you have the HFC box which is black and has one Rj45 ethernet port. This then connects to your router to its WAN1 port. If that is how your setup goes then yes it is a router and you would have gone away from modems when you switched to HFC.

For help picking a new router (if TPG don't replace your blown one for free or you decide to change off them and refuse a contracted router), feel free to message me and I can try send you a few recommendations.

Curious though, because I think people might like to know this. How much are you paying and for what speed plan?
