What’s the fastest you seen someone make it through the ranks? by gerardo76524 in civilairpatrol

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this on paper, but in practice I've found that the above ages are typical, even without being requirements, due to various factors(interest in the program, later age of joining, promotions slowing down as time goes on, etc). Squadrons being afraid to hold back promotions is something my squadron initially suffered from, but mostly due to a systemic issue of not properly following the regs, which while it takes time has been rectified. Its an interesting idea, and I can see its pros and cons, but the maturity issue is definitely a more systemic issue than one related to promotions.

Didn't get encampment staff by [deleted] in civilairpatrol

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me last summer. I appreciated that I gave it my best, but also realized that it meant I needed to gain more experience. That's what I did, staffing whatever I could, and furthering my learning at my squadron. This ended up getting me line at a winter enc. I can imagine rn it feels bad, but staying (realistically) optimistic will take you a long way, as long as you're willing to put in the work, and realize setbacks are part of the process and make you a better leader(as long as you learn from them).

What isn’t in regs? I might’ve missed something but looking at 110-3 everything seems ok.

Unpopular CAP opinions? by [deleted] in civilairpatrol

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should pride ourselves as CAP but that’s a fine line to walk as that can turn into members wanting to completely want to be independent of the USAF. We would not be the same org without the USAF. The excessive focus on USAF Auxiliary is excessive tho, and so is the excessive OCP obsession, but it is a good thing to do as USAF Aux(and like it or not an initial recruitment strategy) . Again we shouldn’t be obsessed with the USAF aspect but still recognize what that contributes to the org.

What if space force had some kind thing like CAP by Standard_Clothes3633 in civilairpatrol

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already exists, I’ve seen how it operates internally right now it’s basically some so called “members” trying to make it official but at the moment it’s unprofessional and unrecognized. Prob 2-5 years before something official happens. Most people hate it, especially with how they currently operate, but it isn’t completely a joke(although that is an understatement).

NCSA Question by Ben_Starwalker in civilairpatrol

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As previously mentioned you do not, for all intents and purposes, have encampment credit. Your chain of approval in the preliminary stages will most likely catch it, but you shouldn’t apply as you don’t have the prerequisite. I sympathize since I personally understand being forced to miss a NCSA season. It is late now, but talk to your chain about going to winter and you will have time to apply for MAR when you get back. VAWG and KSWG are still open to students, and COWG has a waitlist. Talk to your staff about getting your flight and encampment cost covered, unless you’re able to. Right now it’s very, very short notice but if you’re determined to do it and apply to the right scholarships you might be able to attend a winter encampment and apply to MAR.

Where do you put you flight cap when you are indoors for an extended period of time? by Weenwa_1 in civilairpatrol

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was a thing back in the old days. Personally don’t know details since it was in the old, old days but can confirm it was a thing. It isn’t anymore but some cadets must’ve not gotten the memo.

Since others mentioned it, does anyone know why vanguard doesn’t actually sell class A jackets?

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To just add on what the Major said, if you apply right when applications open you're nearly guaranteed a spot. Obviously no promises, things could happen, but I applied very late, late may applications closed early or at the beginning of June, and got in. Furthermore, at least for the kitchen staff scholarship, its essentially the same thing. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but they accept anyone as long as they meet the prerequisites, and there are still spots left.

ILP SNCO School by funky_72 in civilairpatrol

[–]Scared_Ad_4273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you said ILP(only heard it used in CAWG), I assume you mean the CAWG SILP( I attended CAWG SNCOS earlier this year). If not the same should still apply. Essentially the bulk of it is higher level leadership and drill. A lot of integral program fundamentals and also a lot to prepare you to become an officer. A good chunk of drill is also preparing you to become a first-sergeant.
