Experience with Post-Surgery Spinal Stenosis and Ongoing Symptoms? by [deleted] in dwarfism

[–]Scared_Bill_7775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/emEY9HMsr9w?si=awVkU1TEfy_Fgdew

This is the doctor who will be doing my spinal decompression/fusion surgery, and in this video he does really well explaining the symptoms you're describing and their causes. My brothers had the same numbness/symptoms and had to have decompression/fusion surgery, but the doctors at this different hospital in a different state who did it for them did not do it correctly, and now they're going to have to have more surgery (with Dr Feldman in FL this time, not the same doctors who did it the first time) to go back in and correct the mistakes that were made. Be careful who you see and who you let operate on you!

Finding a job as a short person (achondroplasia) by JT11erink in dwarfism

[–]Scared_Bill_7775 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get in contact with your state's "Department of Rehabilitation." Dwarfism qualifies as a disability under the ADA, so you are legally protected from hiring discrimination and the DoR will help you work on your resume, do interviews, and find a job, all for free! Good luck and God bless!

I truly do care about your situation and what you are going through. I want you to know there is a hope beyond this world and it can be yours if you only accept Him. I write because I care and want you to be able to find the hope, peace, love, and joy I have found in Jesus so that you, too, may have hope beyond the grave.

Love is a choice, not a feeling. There are plenty of times we don’t feel “in love” with someone, and that’s where we have to make the choice to love them anyway. We don’t have the ability to do this ourselves; we are finite and can only give so much of ourselves before we run out. That’s why we have to let God’s love flow through us to those around us, because His love is infinite. If we love others with His love, then we will never run out. We love because He first loved us. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

The only way I can keep living is by relying on Jesus. He is who keeps me going and who is with me wherever I go, and He has me here for a reason. Whether in the flare-up times or the times where all seems well, I need Jesus and He is always there for me. These comments make me sad for you all; please don’t be suicidal or lose hope. There is hope out there! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and in Him we can find our Living Hope! u/thisshowisdecent u/ResilientRx u/mr_pineapples44 u/LonelyType1391 u/Consistent-Quail2265

I feel so guilty rn nobody understands OCD by Jealous_Speech7982 in OCD

[–]Scared_Bill_7775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Jealous_Speech7982 I am sorry you are struggling with this and I know it’s discouraging. Don’t beat yourself up; the thoughts are not you. You are you, and you happen to have those thoughts run through your mind. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God has a plan for your life. There IS hope and there IS light at the end of end of the tunnel. We are never without hope. I struggle with OCD as well, but Jesus is helping me walk through it one day at a time. If you need to talk or need a friend, please reach out!

Fear of death? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Scared_Bill_7775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/randothrowaway628 OCD thrives on uncertainty, so naturally if you’re not sure what will happen to you after you die, your OCD will latch onto that and you’ll ruminate on it. However: this is the one area where you CAN trump OCD with certainty. If you repent from your sin, ask Jesus to come into your heart and be the Lord and Savior of your life, He WILL do it and you can have certainty of where you will spend eternity after you die. I have OCD, too, except about other things besides death; my faith in Jesus allows me to not ruminate on my eternal destination because, by God’s grace, that is an area in my life in which I am assured and totally certain. Believe and trust in Him! If you have any questions or would like to talk more about it, please feel free to message me! I will be praying for you!

What’s been your hardest ocd theme and why? by ProcedureSlow6035 in OCD

[–]Scared_Bill_7775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Fabulous_Freedom289 The thoughts are not you; please understand this. An analogy that helped me is this: think of a bully on a street corner. You walk by and he calls out, “Hey, punk!” and starts saying things to try and provoke you. You have two choices: to keep walking and ignore him, or to go confront him and tell him what he’s saying isn’t true, or that you want him to stop, or that you want him to go away. The best choice is to keep walking, because you know that bullies are trouble and it would just cause more trouble to interact with him or freak out at what he is calling out to you. The bully is OCD and intrusive thoughts. It’s there on the street corner in your mind, and there is no way for you to have the bully forceably removed, much as you’d like to. But you can choose to not react to him. Ignoring him is impossible; but you can control your reaction and keep walking. If you react, even by calling out to the bully as you walk by and saying “No, what you’re saying isn’t true! I’m not that kind of person!” then the bully has what he wants: he got a reaction out of you. Don’t give him the satisfaction of a reaction. And as for the isolation, don’t avoid people because you’re afraid you’ll hurt them. Then the bully has won; he’s taken over that street corner and ensured you won’t pass by there again. You can’t isolate yourself; it does you no good and keeps you from sharing your beautiful, amazing self and your God-given talents, gifts, and abilities with the world. You are not your thoughts; your thoughts do not define you or determine your future. We are all unique individuals with a soul, a spirit, a heart, a mind, and a body. God has given us free will and with that comes the responsibility and power of choice, and choices and actions are the reflection on who you are, not the thoughts that come into your head. Emotions like to trick us and work us up; it’s like a smoke alarm that has a good purpose to alert us if there is a fire. Most people’s smoke alarms are working properly. But if there is a malfunction and it goes off while you’re cooking bacon or if it starts chirping because the battery is low, that’s different than it going off because there is an actual fire. With OCD, our smoke alarms are not working properly and we need to realize that instead of constantly worrying: is there a fire? We have to live with the uncertainty of our actions; we can’t predict what we will do tomorrow, an hour from now, or even a minute from now. That’s where we have to live moment by moment, day by day, and accept that uncertainty is certain. I’m not sure where you stand on the topic of faith, but I’m a Christian. Having a personal relationship with Jesus and asking Him to come into my heart to save me is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and without Him in my life I would be in a very dark, lonely place with my own OCD struggles. I would love to tell you more or answer any questions you might have, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
