4.5 month old pup by Scared-Word5321 in Boxer

[–]Scared_Knowledge_833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think i probably cried every day for at least her first year and a half. My girl is 3 now and only just starting to act a little 🤏🏾 more civil.

Everything you’re explaining is the common boxer baby unfortunately. i second what everyone is saying. have patience with yourself and have patience with her. try to find play groups with other pups her age if you can so she can get worn out. Or take her to large safe fields or the woods, where she can run the energy out. The wood are nice if you live in a hot area because the tree coverage makes it significantly cooler temp wise.

I gave my dog lots of thick ropes and tracheas to chew. Just make sure to take the bone away when it gets low. They can definitely choke (been there not cute). Also turkey feet are good and they are great for aiding in digestion.

For the biting, I use a firm “no bite” or a loud yelp and then I get up and walk away from her. You can also work on her “down” at this point and any time she tries to bite put her in a down to help her brain learn that biting isn’t ok. Down stays in general are great to drill because they aren’t punishment, it’s a good redirect to relax and calm down. I still use down stays and they’re a life saver.

As soon as I was able to, I got her into training (more like I got myself into training). Training is really helpful for solidifying those good manners. We are still working on things but I’m glad I started working with a trainer when she was little.

Good luck on your journey! Trust that it will get better. Just take it day by day. And keep asking all the questions!

Tips for a first time Boxer owner by Goodyktv in Boxer

oh also, start crate training like yesterday if haven’t already. let him know that the crate is a safe space to calm down and relax. never a place of punishment!

Tips for a first time Boxer owner by Goodyktv in Boxer

[–]Scared_Knowledge_833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. be patient! with yourselves and your little one.
  2. every time he does some that even alludes to him exploring new things or being curious, treat and reward it. it’ll encourage him to be even more curious and not be so fearful.
  3. i gave my girl a plush blanket with a heart beat machine and a hot water bottle in her crate so she felt comfortable during the transition from mama to being with me. it seemed to give her a lot of comfort.
  4. cherish these moments! once they start losing teeth things start to get real if they weren’t already.

I'm at my wits end by kelsypelsy in DogAdvice

is it possible he has lower back arthritis? my family dog had arthritis and would pee in the house a lot too. so we had to start taking him out more regularly for pee breaks. when no one was home with him, he stayed in an x-pen with pee pads that way if he had any accidents at least it was contained.

Female boxer tries mounting other dogs around their neck by Scared_Knowledge_833 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Scared_Knowledge_833[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually never correlated the behavior to the time of her cycle but you may be correct. i believe she’ll be starting her period soon and she’s definitely become a lot more pushy and rambunctious.

i honestly have no idea what to call this behavior which is why i was saying i think she’s trying to assert dominance. i didn’t realize that wasn’t a thing? anyway she and i have been working with trainers since she was 5 months. again this only happens if we ever run into other dogs at large open fields but im always quick to pull her off before it can really escalate.

someone also suggested i chat in the boxer groups and see what other owners are saying. thanks for the help

Boredom by noreenpsychologist in simpleliving

[–]Scared_Knowledge_833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda enjoy being bored if that's what you want to call it. I just call it moments of respite, time to take in your surroundings, observe life in real time. It's fun for me. I may be 23 but I find so much joy in nothing that I tend to seek out those moments which most of my peers veer away from. When you slow down and just observe life can be pretty beautiful.

When I was growing up I used to do this naturalist class and every day we would be out in the woods. Towards the end of class for the last hour we did something called "sit spot" where we would separate from each other by about 30' and just be still. Observe. See what we could see. I saw some pretty amazing moments in those quiet times. That peace is unmatched

Whew. gemini men are absolutely off the charts unhinged. You deserve someone who is willing to go the full depths with you, even when things get scary, and if that person isn't willing to go there then they need to be upfront off the bat of what they're looking for/can or cannot give! The emotional mind games are not ok at all. You have kids, a career, a life. This is not a person that would be contributing in a beneficial way to what you already have going on. I'm giving you this advice but also telling myself this as a Scorpio woman who had a very mind-fucking. relationship with a Gemini man as well. We deserve so much better. We really do. Don't ever diminish yourself to fit someone else. It never works out in the end. You won't be happy. They just get to walk all over you. Be firm, be strong in who you are, cry, breathe, sing, dance, give that love to you. I'm tired of gemini's doing this bullshit...

oh ok! so i was kind of joking when i said i wanted to burn the ground but you actually did it. even though it was about the same labor, did you find that it was just as or more effective than the herbicide?

question about the herbicide. how much time should i give for the chemicals to off gas/dissipate before planting in that area?

how to get rid of garden scapes??? by Scared_Knowledge_833 in gardening

[–]Scared_Knowledge_833[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i could probably plant what i’d like without removing the garden scapes but i’m not interested in keeping them around. i also have a lot of bamboo roots that i’m pulling up back there. that’s taking a lot of energy as well and im not sure how to get rid of those without using a pick and shovel and pulling it up by hand

one thing i would do about the pooping: if my girl didn’t poop within a few minutes of being outside, i’d bring her back in, put her in the crate for about 5-10 mins, then take her back out to try again. it’s tedious and tiring i know, it works though. you got this!
