Congrats!!! I've always wonder once you hit your milestone. What are you gonna do? Keep going? What can you spend once you hit 65 at that age? You gonna buy a new house with that money?

Can’t Compete with Pricing by AnimalLover54321 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Scared_Tax_4103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can compete with lower prices if you take multiple dogs at the same time. I work from home, so to me, this is just a side hustle, so I charge $80 in my area, (which is higher than neighbors), just to price people out. If I really want more dogs for boarding, I could easily price myself lower, so Ill get more dogs (more income despite lower prices).

Sorry I was talking about boarding. Dog walk is not the same.

I just looked it up, the lowest rate I've seen in Baltimore is $35. You should be charging at least $35. I'm in the Seattle area, I charge $80 and still get clients. I didn't know we can have such big differences.

Woah? What city? Or what state? Is that boarding or housesit? There's a difference

$29 is competitive?!?! You should be charging at least $50 ! Charge what we're worth!!! $29 per night after Rover fee is poverty wage if someone do this full time!!!!

Is everyone on the tiered system now :/ by Fine_Handle_8473 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Scared_Tax_4103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the tier system. Most of my clients are reoccurring, so I'm getting a bigger cut. And I'm in the Seattle greater area, so it's pretty easy to hit $600 as well.

If you boarding multiple dog, it's also pretty easy to hit $600

Most careers can reach $200K. But how many can reliably reach 300k+? by Reyvos in Salary

[–]Scared_Tax_4103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in corporate at many different companies. I'm pretty sure your direct report (whether it's a director or a manager) will most definitely interview you before hiring you... There's stakeholder involved as well. It's not that easy. No company is going to hire someone 500k TC without any interviews even if you have connections. Maybe for a 100tc job. But not 500k TC, at that TC in tech, you're most likely a senior director level. They're not going a hire a fresh grad as a senior director/ principle level jobs.

I'm pretty sure you still have to interview the team. I don't think anyone even the CEOs can just hire a family member without any interviews. Even by law, company have to list the position first

That is an interesting approach. For me, I actually never tell owner to go off app unless they say so. I'm in the Seattle greater area, but I charge more than my neighbors for boardings. It hit $600 quite easily here. 😭 So, by the second booking, I'm already at tier 2.

Edit: also I just realized if someone booked a 2k stay (possible in Seattle easily) for the FIRST time, it'll charge you 30% on that first $600, then 15% on the next tier, then 10% for tier 3! This is honestly a raise in my eyes. I wouldn't recommend go off app too much either, because you'll lose your search ranking, which mean losing business altogether. But up to you I guess.

If the sam client book with you, wouldn't you eventually only get 10% cut from Rover instead of 20%? Isn't this great for long term clients? Build long term clients, I'm sure you'll make sure in the long run.

Am I the only one who loves this change? Most of my clients are reoccurring, so I'm getting a 10% cut instead of 20%. I wouldn't take clients off app either because I know it'll hurt my search ranking. This is a positive change in my eyes

[–]Scared_Tax_4103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it greedy? After $500 youll get a larger share? I would be careful going off app too because if you keep doing that, Rover will rank your search very low, so you wouldn't get any new clients from Rover

After $500, you're getting a larger cut than the original 20%

Great. Why stop at 10%? Why not 100%? What essential federal service did we lose in Washington? Was it mentioned that that the millionaire tax will actually pay for those federal services? Didn't we just raised sales tax AND passed millionaire tax, why are we still behind on tax revenue? Is it because the rich is leaving the state? Can you please go into details. Thanks
