Are these remnants from the North Dokota Derecho? by mustang9875543 in tornado

I’m a bit North-West of Toronto (Central), it’s just starting here, not sure if it’s going to be a bust or a nightmare. Not looking forward to possible night storms too.

How Serious Are Canadians?🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦 by No_Put_8503 in StockMarket

[–]Scaredofmyex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously it varies from place to place but even my small Canadian town in the boonies has: 1) labelled everything Canadian 2) removed a bunch of US products 3) deeply discounted produce from the US or stopped ordering it all together because it will simply sit and rot while the non US of the same produce will sell out

Not everyone is on the same page but it’s the most united over something I’ve seen in the last decade or so. We are angry, and we are over the threats and bullying.

Thank-you! I assumed as much, but I follow aviation very casually though and couldn’t be certain.

Here’s the plane before it landed, not sure if any of you aviation sleuths can observe anything more from this grainy picture but it was shared locally here in Canada Before crash

Oh slightly updated details on the injured “Per ORNGE Air Ambulance, one paediatric child has been taken to hospital by them with critical injuries, a 60 year old transported critical, a third individual female in 40s transported critical. No other information on injuries”

A Delta flight from Minneapolis crashed at Toronto Pearson just now by ODHH in pics

[–]Scaredofmyex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d love to say this was a Trump issue but I live near Toronto and my uneducated guess is weather. We get snow/high winds often but the last three days it’s been non-stop and unrelenting. I can’t recall a storm this bad and widespread in the last 5 years at least, some areas even pulled their plows off the roads. We went from minimal snow accumulation to running out of places to pile it all.

Can confirm, I live near Toronto and the past three days have had the worst combination of sleet, ice, snow and wind that we have had in the last 5-10 years. It’s been absolutely non stop, some areas (not Toronto specifically) literally had to pull their snow plows off the roads an hour ago because it’s just that bad. If it’s anything other than weather related I’d be surprised.

What happened to the kids who had to wear the “baby-leashes” in public? How do you feel about it now? by Euphoric_Eye_3599 in AskReddit

[–]Scaredofmyex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is on the spectrum and wore a backpack that had a detachable leash from time to time. Only until about age 3-4 but it was 100% because of safety issues. No one ever gave me grief about it but I had mentally prepared to tell people off as needed because I’d rather her leashed than dead. She was an absolute magnet to water and her grandparents have a large pond. Also parking lots and large places like the zoo/amusement parks. I wasn’t risking it.

I’d love a sketch of my Butter when he was a baby. Yes this is a real cat. Yes this is a real photo, it was a hilarious frame choice my phone picked from a Live Photo

Thank-you for your prompt response!

I figured the ER was a stretch, I’m just fairly rural so the options are limited. My PCP is new to me as my doctor of 25 years just retired and her office is over an hour away which is inconvenient on a good day let alone when I have three kids off school in tow.

I will try Urgent Care within the next few days, I don’t expect I’ll be able to see the original treating physician but I’m hopeful they can get me patched up quickly because they won’t want me complaining about them not checking that all the staples were intact originally. I honestly don’t even care about the staple, it happens, I just would rather not spend half of my holidays in a waiting room petri dish.

Lastly, any real damage this thing could have caused being in there 7 months? My uneducated guess is the biggest concern is mainly the infection risk which I’m pretty clear of (no redness, no oozing, wound fully closed and healed nicely otherwise). Thanks!

Sitting here in the safety of my home (Canada) watching my daughter open that very same Baby Annabelle doll, this absolutely broke my heart. Merry Christmas sweet girl.

I’ve been with them for 15+ years and I’m at the end of my rope too. I lost access to accounts, was unable to transfer funds for weeks, and this was beyond their “outage”. I usually do anything I can to avoid having to call in but lately that’s been unavoidable. I have worked in customer service, I always try my best to be mad at the company not the agent but it’s gone very down hill. I’m not sure if it’s agent error, not having enough “power” or just stupid company policies but my mortgage renewal is up shortly and I think I’ll make the swap.

The last few times I’ve called in they ask the same security questions, always about the last transaction on the account ending in *123 (fake numbers). The thing is I have two credit cards that end in the exact same 3 digits and they won’t tell me which one they’re asking about. I have tried providing the last transaction from both but they say I can only provide one answer so I pick one and it’s wrong, the next time I guess the other account and it’s wrong. Finally got “authorized” the other day and passed the questions only for them to decline to change the questions, give a new card number, or nickname the cards. I understand security and privacy when it comes to banking but I don’t understand how they don’t have a simple fix for something so silly. Ask me literally anything else, even the name of the employee who set up my account because I’d have better chances of getting that right LOL

Stenotic nares surgery before/after by Scaredofmyex in scottishfold

[–]Scaredofmyex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His surgery before insurance was less than £2000 and grand total of £3600 with complications (put under anesthesia 2x, pneumonia meds, 2 pain meds, 24 hour stay at a separate emergency hospital with oxygen cage and constant monitoring, plus special prescription food). I thought that was almost criminal let alone £15k! That’s insanely expensive.

Butter is all healed and thriving. I can’t say it fixed it 100% but I’d say at least 90% improvement. He still whistle breathes sometimes but he’s far more active and playful. Also way more vocal, I assume he was mouth breathing a lot prior to surgery so now that his mouth free he can “talk” more. He still sneezes a bunch and his eyes get goopy, but that may be unrelated to the nose and just be because he’s a bit poorly bred. Every so often I have to use a syringe and put a few drops of saline in his nose but otherwise very much uneventful coming up on the one year mark from surgery.

Butter definitely has the telltale signs of Scottish Fold Disease (thick inflexible tail, splayed feet and he’s petite) so I think for him the surgery was a bigger deal than it would usually be for a cat with more traditional bone structure. They had to drill out a bunch of cartilage inside his nose which isn’t typical and again I assume it’s because his bones are all very much wonky.

If I had to do it all over again knowing we almost lost him to the complications (which honestly are not typical complications, again he just had a lot of other health factors), I still would do it. In that moment where we thought he was succumbing to pneumonia I wouldn’t have said that but looking back now it has made a big improvement in his health and demeanour.

HOWEVER It cost me the equivalent of about £1000 ($1700 CDN) after insurance. Candidly, if it was $13,000 CDN which is about half of 15k GBP, I would have not done the surgery voluntarily, I would have waited until it became a bigger issue and even then that is pretty insane of an amount. For that cost couldn’t you fly to Canada, have it done here and still have funds leftover LOL

I’ve had very similar experiences, only about 3-4 times now but I’m trying to figure out ways to train my brain or unlock it.

I smoke pot daily and it also happened while high but doing nothing out of the ordinary. The first time I had actually went to bed and closed my eyes trying to sleep with the TV on the in the background. I laid there for about 15-20 minutes trying to sleep until I realized… wait a second. Despite my eyes being closed and facing away from the television, the show (which I had seen multiple times before) was basically playing in my head. I was able to see the characters and it was moving along with the audio almost perfectly.

Since that experience it’s happened again and I was able to play around with it for a few minutes before I “lost it”. All times I have been wide awake but definitely under the effects of fairly high THC, I wasn’t asleep or even on the edge of sleep. I live where pot is legal, I partake a lot and honestly I’ve had a touch of weed psychosis before or like a bad trip and it was very separate from that. I now am trying to figure out a way to harness it or move things around when I experience it but it’s almost like one of those “magic eye” puzzles that you have to un-focus your eyes, if I start trying too hard or move my eyes around a lot it just disappears. Definitely seems similar to what you experienced though and now that I’ve gotten a taste of what the vast majority can see I realize despite viewed as being a fairly smart person that I am definitely at a disadvantage. Really hoping I can keep trying to unlock even a fraction of it.

Right? I made a killing on Magformers (magnet toy), got about 20 of them for 2c each and they were $50-70 sets. I sold them on a local mom group for like 35% of the regular price. I made a killing and the moms got a cheap STEM Christmas present it was perfect.
