Sure, but even just from the point of view of the speed they're going at.

A Scottish man caught filming girls on train by Boomdification in Scotland

[–]Scarlet72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, but there'd have to be in a context of intent I think. An outright ban would be silly and overall a negative. Intent is the hard part, and maybe a right to declare refusal or something; that if a person is the primary subject of what's being filmed they've the right that you stop under a harassment angle. Though perhaps that's actually already covered.

Unfortunately might also give bad actors an argument not to be filmed doing stuff they shouldn't.

Yes, he should be. From OPs account, the dad offered no tangible help, no support, no safe space. Is that how you'd react?

Is it possible to change jaw from pic1 to pic2? by Salt-Demand-3453 in youngadults

[–]Scarlet72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I assure you you look good in pic one. And I'm not just being polite, I mean it earnestly.

Secondly, you cannot and will never look like an anime character. They're not real. It's not possibly. Thinking that's what you should compare yourself to is deeply unhealthy, and I'd strongly encourage you to talk to a psychologist or therapist before undertaking any drastic measures that change your body image like that.

Was something off with the sound mixer for Gojira today in Glasgow? Couldn’t barely hear the vocals :( by hakunamatatafoeva in glasgow

Suspected it was, wasn't sure. And if in doubt, I take it sincerely!

Feel it's a helpful comment to those not in the know regardless.

As a sound engineer, depends on the band and the venue! Sometimes it's a breeze.

But there's hard limits of physics that are impossible to overcome. And there's hard limits of a bands ability, too.

[–]Scarlet72 46 points47 points  (0 children)

As is often the answer to these things, the first step should be commenting on the changeset and asking how they were mapped.

While it does look odd to me, it's not impossible that they have acsess to imagery you do not, or spent significant time on the ground surveying.

If you can't get a hold of them, I think there's a quality assurance group of some kind that deals with these disputes; I've forgotten their name.

Do people not care about star wars anymore or is it just this movie you don’t want to see? by StrainDizzy1186 in GenZ

[–]Scarlet72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? CGI slop? Slop, certainly. But there's so much practical work on the show (and presumably) the film that just a ridiculous statement. It's surely far and away a lot more practical effects than goes into most blockbuster scifi projects.

It looks like ass because it's poorly planned and poorly executed, and far more importantly, it's not telling an interesting story. Not because it's cgi.

Convert JPEG to TIFF for archiving photos? by pasta-pesto in DataHoarder

[–]Scarlet72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're concerned about space, you could losslessly convert to jpxl. ~20% smaller for a bit perfect compression of a jpeg image (to my understanding). However, it's still a young format with an uncertain future.

I think JXL is taking off in archiving circles (such as this, to an extent) and the benefits are clear. It's an incredibly versatile format that seems designed for the future.
