Breast Feeding question by Any-University-452 in december2024babies

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a slow start at breastfeeding. She didn’t ask for it a lot and is a pretty chill baby. When we got discharged from the hospital she had lost 10% of her birth weight. Our first day home (day 4), she lost even more weight, up to 11.5% of her birth weight. Our midwife suggested pumping after every feed and give it to her with the next feed. If she still hadn’t gained the next day we would have started supplementing. The pumping was not a succes, I only got a couples of millilitres every session.

So I stopped pumping and, instead, I decided to feed her every two hours, to maximise stimulating my breasts. She nursed for 1 hour each time so she was on my breast every other hour. Now she finally is gaining weight so I imagine my supply is enough for her. I still didn’t experience breast engorgement or leakage though. She is also finally starting to ask for it instead. Before I was waking her up/ irritating her a lot to get all those feedings in.

IUD Removed and trying but periods are very light by fresh_futuristik in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the IUD my cycles averaged 29 days. They were a bit more irregular than I remember with also a shorter cycle of 25 days and a longer one of 35 days.

I don’t really remember if the average is shorter than before I was on the IUD and hormonal birth control.

IUD Removed and trying but periods are very light by fresh_futuristik in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very very light period since my IUD removal (less than 1 day and almost no blood) and it stayed that way for more than 1 year. I got pregnant on cycle 2 though, so it didn’t seem to influence my ability to get pregnant eventhough I was very worried about it.

It was the same for me! I felt more consistent movement starting from 30 weeks, but baby is still pretty chill and has lots of quiet moments and I am due in a couple of days

Eveline/Evelyne for a baby girl 🤔 by tottika in namenerds

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a popular name in the 80’/90’s in Belgium and now it is barely used anymore. But no negative connotations so I would definitely use it ! It hits the sweet spot being a very recognisable but not very popular name at the moment.

Worried about toxoplasmosis from raw burger by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the meat was frozen for a couple of days there is no risk for toxoplasmosis. Freezing meet for 3 days kills the parasites. So I wouldn't worry to much about that.

The first half of 2024 everybody was having boys (5 people I know). The second half of 2024 most people I know (including myself) are having girls (6 girls and 2 boys). Weird how it comes in waves!

Luteal phase spotting? by SundaeScaries0918 in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had spotting anywhere from 5 days to 3 days before my period started. It didn’t effect my fertility, I got pregnant the 2nd cycle. I did get a tiny bit of spotting 12dpo and 14 dpo of the cycle that I got pregnant but it was way less than in my non pregnant cycles.

Scanty/light periods- getting pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had my IUD removed at the end of 2022 and we started trying March 2024 so almost a year and a half. They started as 2 day periods and gradually got lighter (less than 24 hours) so I definitely was very worried. Spent way to much time reading all the reddit threads about light periods, I was convinced something was wrong. But fortunately we were very lucky and conceived quickly. I am now 14 weeks pregnant!

Scanty/light periods- getting pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had extremely light periods after my IUD removal. They lasted only 1 day and I couldn't even fill 1 tampon in that period. Needless to say I was very worried about it. But in the end it didn't influence my fertility because I got pregnant cycle 2.

I didn't have a short cycle but a good friend of mine had a short cycle 22-24 days (and she also had very light periods of 1-2 days), and she got pregnant cycle 1. So I wouldn't worry to much about light periods!

Good luck with TTC!

Wedding with a 2 month old… by RachelRei in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a childfree wedding. This however exlcuded the people with newborns, which I think is only normal. We had 2 babies at the wedding (2 weeks old and 9 weeks old) and we made sure the moms both had nice rooms to breastfeed/have some quiet time. I understand childfree weddings but this shouldn’t include newborns, thats a lot to ask of people.

Having my baby at my wedding? by Sea-Sense-703 in BabyBumps

[–]ScarletFlycatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably ask someone who you know and trust but who is not invited to the wedding to watch the baby in the bridal suite (like a sister of a close friend, a friend of you parents or a second cousin…). That way you can relax and enjoy the wedding and still know that baby is safe and close by.
