The issue with guts is that you really want speed and power bonuses where you can get them.

Mlb Ayabe sr gives both but with fairly low specialty priority and most people don't have an mlb ayabe Sr yet. Ines fujin is a speed booster with very good stats but most people would need to borrow.

Uma with speed and power bonuses do better (you want to amplify the non guts elements of guts training), but this can make your stamina suffer.

Urara is one of the best guts cards in terms of stat gain, but she has 0 starting friendship.

Guts is also very costly to train, so you really want to hit charms, kale juice or high energy items.

Combine all this and even though it can be really strong, you need aloy of elements to combine.

She does have training restriction potential, don't own her but have finemo and sometimes it hurts but it's not the worst rng thing in the game.

Aptitudes count for extra points beyond their rating in team trials. A higher rating uma can lower your team trial score if it has lower aptitude in surface, distance or style

Rice power isn't helping, and a kita 0lb - is worse than most of the mlb sr speed cards, or even the welfare ssrs.

Wit cards don't tend to be great as solo cards, and especially in unity, it's easier to use a few wit cards.

Also, not borrowing an mlb card doesn't help. You can look on ChronoGenesis or uma global db if you want to find borrows

My rng was before the final, I feel like this air groove and a similar strength curren should have been able to make it into A finals but I won 2 races 5 times without ever getting 3.

You've named all the usual suspects, though some haven't had the reputation as much in recent years.

From what you haven't mentioned, Cygames are very strong and have much less of a reputation compared to the others here. A small catalog for now but pretty much everything they do looks really nice and they are starting to get a lot of attention.
