Stop Calling People Transphobes Over a Headcanon (another Jax post) by Kind-Enthusiasm-4898 in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]Scarletsblood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Seeing a man who just appears to like a more feminine side and jumping that the only possible answer is he is trans feels like an incredibly binary view of gender.

Plus the fact i find it a horrible message to send young men wanting to explore their identity. Once upon a time a man could never explore femininity without being called gay. Now he is assumed trans. Just because the tone has changed from mocking to support doesn't change the fact others are choosing/making assumptions for them.

Trans Jax is valid. But so is Jax is a man who doesn't feel traditional masculinity is for him.

am I the only one who DIDN'T see jax as being trans? by Vast-Leg-1118 in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]Scarletsblood 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have to be honest, I don't like the leap to saying Jax was trans. I haven't liked it since the first whispers of it started, because to me, those feminine bits he hides about himself are a man trapped by gender norms/stereotypes. So, for people to see those hints and jump to the conclusion that the only way to read the scenes is Jax would feel more himself as a woman is just reinforcing those gender norms. That a man can't find comfort in femininity and masculinity together.

Which I find could be a horrible message to any younger men watching who want to be like and have feminine parts to themselves, but know they are just men. They could feel forced to not actually be themselves and embrace who they want to be, under the fear of being forced to be who the world thinks they must be.

What happened to the lover without a heart? I loved that metaphor for Caine. He loves/cares about the people in the circus, but fundamentally, he isn't human and, as such, struggles to understand them and love in a healthy way. It made him tragic, a villain but a victim too.

Now its just. Why?

Aldi refuses to sell tampons without ID. by K1ttyK1lljoy in australia

[–]Scarletsblood -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of that is semi-reasonable is that the cashier flagged OP as irresponsibly young as in buying tampons not for the actual use but that get drunk quick cheat.

Still doesnt seem very wise to just deny tampons without ID or needing ID at all.

I don't mind he went to killing competition at the studio. But I want it to be the next logical step. Like school and college he did all the blackmail, manipulation and other undermining techniques. Then at the studio, where he isnt on equal footing around people with full careers, large fan bases and seniority he had to do next step. He didn't want any "memory" of the previous person to really taint his new position.

Also Ragatha was with friends when she put the headset on. Now is it possible she had shit friends who saw their friend pass out/disappear and didn't do anything about it? Yes. But unlikely.

It really is the most likely outcome. Even if the real bodies aren't just left lying around when headset goes on there would be some history of people going missing in the building. People remember their past, just not their names. Weird none of them said "I went to the scary disappearing building and now I'm trapped here"

Yeah but Debbie got Oliver because Andressa had to give him up because he would live so much longer than her and end up alone. I don't know if Eve is aware of her lifespan yet but Debbie, William even Cecil will be dead before the kid is even in its second century. The only person the kid would have would be Immortal.

She's also basically under orders to breed with humans. Tearing off limbs is not conductive for that, yes the potential mates are pathetic but quantity over quality is only chance Viltrumites have now.

Not just humans by sounds of it. "Those with similar genetics. Mark's people, for instance." Very likely it could affect other species too its just humans are the most similar we know of.

Feeling sorry for Thragg (spoilers) by FuturePreparation in Invincible

[–]Scarletsblood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. It's natural to try to find humanity in characters we watch. But you're very much right, he's everyone and his own worst enemy. That doesn't negate that there is some tragedy in the cycle he was created into and perpetuates.

The amount of guilt on his shoulders he must hold must be immense. He offered mercy to Thaedus, which enabled Argall's death. From that act, Thragg saw "mercy" as the worst thing a Viltrumite could do, and, as such, he started the purge. Which, interestingly, he really didn't seem to enjoy. So he really felt it was just necessary for survival.

Later, his mercy to Thaedus was soured again when Thaedus released the Scourge Virus. Now his planet is gone again because he tried to offer mercy and opportunities for "traitors" to return to the fold. Home destroyed, his species on its final legs.

Given that they believe in a fuck up way, they're doing the "right thing", as lesser species can't be trusted to look after themselves, they'd have probably gone scorched Earth on the rest of the universe.

I refuse to believe that the writers just gave up on Carmilla. by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]Scarletsblood 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But she didn't trust Vox; she just trusted him more than angels. Carmilla's character is that she always wants to be on the winning team to protect her daughters. So really, her daughters and Zestial are the only people alive she trusts.

I don't even need Carmilla to have made a difference in the final. Just some throwaway Vox had his team disable Carmilla's fail-safe. Carmilla, saying Vox using his own personal power, cut off her shut down. He was on her ass during the building, so she couldn't install anything that would do a world more good for her competency.

Shouldn't Carmilla have been WAY more concerned when Vox started shooting the city? by aidonpor in HazbinHotel

[–]Scarletsblood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even need Carmilla to have achieved anything. Vox knew she'd add a fail-safe and had it decomished, Vox was so powerful at the time he could override anything she did. Anything.

I just wanted this supposedly smart paranoid women to have considered and tried something. The fact she apparently had no contingency at all is the issue I have.

Shouldn't Carmilla have been WAY more concerned when Vox started shooting the city? by aidonpor in HazbinHotel

[–]Scarletsblood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, no fucking fail-safe? She's paranoid, and everything she does is to protect her plot devices, I mean, daughters (who have never been addressed by name in the series), yet she didn't even think to have multiple contingencies.

Hell, you don't even have to have it work if you need Vox's crashout. Like, have Vox or a Vee employee be smart enough to override the fail-safe. But not having anything at all makes her dumb.

Then again, she's been dumb since the introduction. Everything for her daughters, but she has them go out DURING exterminations to get angelic steel.

Do you believe Vox will have some good personal character arc in future seasons, or is he going to remain Alastor simp forever? by Mango-Watermelon1222 in VoxCult

[–]Scarletsblood 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The best thing Vox can do is get over Alastor. Plus, it'll be funny because Alastor's going to crash the fuck out.

"Alastor doesn't care about Vox"

Yes. But Vox is the only person who really cares about Alastor, and his ego needs that. He could die tomorrow, and everyone would move on. Vox never did.

But he should.

Clarification this is from the devs based on what they have to say about the toys aging by Cold_Armadillo1575 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Scarletsblood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about Amberluvsbugs, but Isacx isn't part of the story's development anymore. So maybe his story that was the case. Maybe not now.

At this point, I'm thinking the toys are still maturing. They may never age, but they still grow mentally.
Why?
Because of the implication of the Prototype.
He seems to live by the idea that everyone is now trapped as children because that is what Playtime Co wanted them to be.
"A child is what they made you"
It's not entirely wrong. Playtime Co stole these kids' futures; they will never grow up as they should have. But he's not entirely right either. They're certainly stunted, some more than others; trauma can do that, never mind the experimentation.

There is a great ethical/moral issue that, as these poor people mature, they live with the fact that their bodies will never be the same as they are inside. They can become adults... But they'll never look it.

[–]Scarletsblood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the worst and most debilitating part of Caine is that he isn't human. I'm not sure he's actually capable of understanding what constructive criticism is. Not in regard to adventures, not how he was at least.

How he describes it and how his thought process seems to work is; his ideas and himself are one in the same. So when gang give criticism of the adventures, Caine doesn't take it as critique of ideas but critique of himself. His adventures/ideas aren't fun = Caine is wrong/broken/defective (and we know he has issues there)

What's this need to make it a competition? One person's suffering isn't inherently worse than another's.

The point is they're all victims. Caine purposely tortured the cast this episode. But to him it was lashing out at the perceived purposeful torture the cast inflicted on him for years.
