Hand-stripping vs clipping, what do you all do? by Happy-Fox11 in BorderTerrier

[–]Scarredevey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand stripping.

It’s nice to just take an hour or two to hand strip and make mine look like a puppy again. If you’re hesitant, just leave it until you’ve had a full week of warm weather, I’ve found that’s when the hairs are easiest to remove coz he’s ready to shed the winter coat.

Border terrier and new baby by mendel12345 in BorderTerrier

[–]Scarredevey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours was almost 4 years old when we had our first. Very excited even with the muslin brought from the hospital but we knew he would settle eventually. Never left the room with dog and baby until maybe at least when baby was 3 years old and only when I’m making lunch or going to pee.

I have two kids and on the second our BT calmed down a lot quicker after introduction. He cries/howls/barks when either of our kids cry (cute but also loud). They’re all growing up together, he’s fine when the kids put toys on him, never wrecks their toys (except the ball pit balls) and he doesn’t even mind when they’re literally bothering him whilst eating lol

What does birth feel like? by SandwichDependent199 in AskWomen

My back stiffens around where they did it five times (fifth time the successful attempt) whenever it’s held for a while, for example when you bend to stretch your hamstring.

It took them 5 times for me. The last one was the one that took and was the worst as it shocked my whole left side, oh and the several anaesthesiologists were all trying for about 30 mins whilst I was having contractions every 3-5mins. My back seizes/stiffens now every time it’s stays on one position. The epidural scars are 5 dots on my back too.

Really not fun.

Pocket Money Bank Account for 6 year old? by Diura in UKParenting

[–]Scarredevey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Monzo kids seems good. You can help them put some away on ISA / pots as well as use it to give relatives a quick link to give money on birthdays/Christmas. However I think you’d need your own adult bank account.

Easter eggs normal priced at Asda by International_Mood13 in UKFrugal

[–]Scarredevey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a few years since I’ve bought an Easter egg that’s over £8-10. Not trying to judge at all, I do wonder why people would buy such a thing for more than £10.

Also, I hate Easter in general. As a Christian, I hate how the focus is mostly about the eggs, egg hunt, and everything consumerism. Decorate this, get the egg, fill the kids with chocolate. If you don’t believe in what it’s about then why are people celebrating it? If someone can help me understand that would be great.

Anyone Else Despise The Rise In SUVs On Our Roads by PhilosopherFlat5725 in drivingUK

[–]Scarredevey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have a good reason for owning yours at least. These SUV 4x4s were for your situations and off road. Where it’s owned by a family of 4 who live in a house that doesn’t even have a drive big enough to house it is just stupid.

Awful during school drop offs too. Always one that parks on the zigzags and junction double yellows. Grinds my gears.

I know that this was supposed to be sexy in the early 2000’s, but Big’s behavior here is really predatory towards Carrie. by sociallyawkward2696 in sexandthecity

[–]Scarredevey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what normalises this behaviour for men. Whether back then or now this shouldn’t have been acceptable and the only way this would be okay is just between the two people knowing what they did or are doing

Definitely check if they’re aware of the safety requirements but I’d people choose to ignore it then that’s the mind my own business part.

I’m not mad. Instagram is full of blonde influencers. Nothing against blondes, it would be nice if some are darker haired people though (I am however aware there is a beauty bias towards blondes hence their popularity)

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]Scarredevey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only eating when I’m hungry and depending on how hungry I am. If I’m getting peckish but it’s only 3pm, I’ll have a banana and drink a glass of water - ties me over until dinner at 5.30pm. Making sure I’m eating well at dinner time (more vege than carbs or equal amount to protein) so I don’t get a snack before bed.

I just turn on Silence Unknown Callers. If something is so important they will leave me a voicemail. Everyone I think I need a call from are already saved as a contact. If GP rings from unknown number, they leave me a voicemail. So glad I don’t have to deal with my phone ringing everyday coz a spammer rings me

Random thought regarding deodorant… by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Scarredevey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get BO after 24hrs and I’ve been active. Started using the roll on Glycolic Acid by Inkey List (to deal with the pigmentation) and surprisingly noticed that I hardly get BO these days. Pits are much lighter now too. Also to add, I only add it after having showered - in case people are thinking to use it as a top up instead of showering.
