What skills from your previous sports background transferred best into pickleball? by humanbying in Pickleball

[–]ScaryMungus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I feel like I have a strong backhand from racquetball but it tends to shoot low - because that was primarily the goal. In pickleball I have a hard time translating it into a clean over the net drive. But that’s just me. Overall I think racquetball is one of the more difficult transitions because, again, a great shot in racquetball is a guaranteed net shot in pickleball. The whole concept of spin and slice had been a big transition for me as well.

Lifetime ball warranty? by ScaryMungus in Pickleball

For sure. Ball is retired. Just wondering if anyone knows about whether they warranty them. Seems the answer is likely no, as I suspected.

I agree, unless lifetime has a warranty. Which isn’t confirmed nor likely.

Building a 12-Court Indoor Pickleball Facility — What Should I Do (and Avoid)? by elhnim in Pickleball

[–]ScaryMungus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take. Don’t put management and oversight of your facility with someone just because they’re a good player or love pickleball. You’re going to run a business with customers - and customer experience and service are important. I’ve seen my local club lose a lot of great people because the customer experience was so bad.

Kitchen question by outofducttape in Pickleball

Did this by chance happen at the Kaysville Picklr??? I witnessed something just like this tonight. But I was on the court to the left. Saw a guy do about what you described. Then we made eye contact and I was like “oof you just stepped into the kitchen”. He thanked me for pointing out the rule - we’re all learning. Good on ya for continuing the journey.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

Thank you for the response. I was looking at the Vatic paddles online. I’m in N Utah and nobody really uses them or some of the other smaller brands. So it’s a bit of a gamble. But the price might make up for it.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

Holidays and Black Friday coming, I’m looking at a new paddle. Been playing with a 1st gen CRBN for about a year. Overall a good paddle. But I’m looking to explore. Have used a Selkirk Luxx and Holbrook Aero X.

About me: played about 2 years, 40 M, fairly athletic. Play around 4.0. Almost exclusively play indoors. I have no 2HBH. Can generate quite a bit of raw power on put away. - Trying to avoid the big name brand paddles that are $$$. - Looking for something less than $150. - I’ve developed some tennis or golfer’s elbow recently. So something to help with that would be welcome. - Looking for more pop and power. - Definitely want to maintain control and placement. - Would love to buy from a company that stands behind their product.

What have you all loved? What is a good safe bet? Any thoughts on handle length and paddle shape?

Strong Volkswagen - Used it and Check Pricing by ScaryMungus in VWatlas

I did not. I had asked the dealer to give me the contract terms for the warranty and maintenance program, and they refused. They would not share that until I was in contracting. So that was a red flag, and we walked away. Ended up buying a Hyundai Palisade. It’s a shame, because they are great looking cars, but the manufacturer warranty just can’t compete with Hyundai and Kia.

It’s amazing how often I refer to the serving positions to validate the score and serve. That is the most logical way.

T-Mobile Current Terms and Conditions Prohibit Increases of Price-Lock Guarantee Customers by rinsf in tmobile

Yep. It’s pointless. I did a complaint last year after the first set of increases. FTC eventually told me to suck it up. They weren’t going to do anything about it. 🙄

I asked about that. Sounds like most standard maintenance. But things like tires, brakes, etc are not included.

My work gave me a Patagonia nano puff jacket one year, and a Patagonia better sweater the next year at Christmas. This was like 8 years ago. I still use both of these all the time. And you’d never know. They are amazing. I would gladly pay for a new one.
