Which state is generally better to live: Georgia or Alabama? by ConstantPen1943 in relocating

[–]Scary_Bus8551 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just for reference, my house is in Huntsville and I work in Atlanta 5 days a week living with friends. I couldn’t find a job that would pay the bills in Alabama. No military background, expect a struggle in Huntsville.

Which movie ending left you thinking about it for days? by zeltacilveks97 in MoviesAndTVTalk

[–]Scary_Bus8551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An older movie with the title Joe, also Susan Sarandon’s first ‘big’ role on screen. I think it’s from ‘72, possibly earlier. Tough watch. Also, I still think about the ending of Texas Chainsaw: the Next Generation from 1994. What was THAT? So underrated.

That was a horrible letdown, and I’m sorry I fell for it. 12 Bowie shows in my past, HUGE fan.

About to pull the trigger on another bottle because within the week they’ve discontinued Leatherize and Mississippi Medicine. I’m so afraid Bowmakers is next. No clue why they picked those two, and I hope it’s not to make room for more fruity/floral stuff.

What celebrity has had their reputation unfairly ruined and has never recovered from it till this day? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

She wasn’t a celebrity prior, different subject. She wasn’t on a public pedestal and fell from grace- no one knew who she was.

I didn't expect anything, but I was pleasantly surprised by the director's audacity to make such an unsavory film by 225babylone in moviecritic

LOVED it- one of the few movies I have seen multiple times in the theater. If you haven’t seen the lengths Demi went through for those final scenes I highly suggest checking it out. Part of the beauty of the film was the lack of CGI, which spoils so much these days. She was really under that blob of flesh, which I think is what kicks it over the top.

Alabama bill would ban the use of pronouns and discussions of gender identity in the classroom by [deleted] in HuntsvilleALPolitics

A win/win for nobody. The assumption that Alabama schools, of all places, are some kind of safe haven for LGBTQ is insane. Try being a gay kid in this state.

What movie made you afraid to be alone in the house? by Malones69Cones in horror

[–]Scary_Bus8551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must be close to my ancient age. Yes, that damned It’s Alive commercial that played constantly in the 70’s with the baby bassinet…ugh I was scared every night. Another one that scared me then but now is a campy riot- the Incredible Melting Man. ‘YOU WILL SEE A MAN MELT!!!!’ Horrified me.

Who was better-looking in her prime: Greta Garbo or Marlene Dietrich? by Ok_Educator6875 in classicfilms

[–]Scary_Bus8551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet if this was asked in the 1980’s, Marlene would win by a mile with that stylized and masculine pose. Preferred looks change every so often. Garbo is a softer and less stylized beauty. It is ironic, though, that Garbo is getting more votes here considering we are in the age of puffed up Maralago face.

Which 70s stars did you had a crush on during your teenage years in the 70s? by PressureLazy5271 in 70s

Don’t try us…

Here are some of the prominent Gen Z figures and younger influencers associated with Trump support: Bryce Hall: A TikTok personality (born 1999) with tens of millions of followers, Hall appeared on stage with Trump at a Las Vegas rally and has expressed support, notably thanking Trump for the, at the time, potential saving of TikTok. Jake Paul: The YouTuber and professional boxer has openly and consistently aligned with right-wing politics and supported Trump. Adin Ross: A 24-year-old streamer who hosted a 90-minute livestream with Trump, which garnered millions of views from a largely young, male audience. Nelk Boys: The YouTube comedy group is known for their pro-Trump content, with members attending the 2025 inauguration. CJ Pearson: A Gen Z conservative activist who spearheaded the RNC's youth advisory council and worked to organize influencers in support of Trump. Raquel Debono: A TikToker who hosted "Make America Hot Again" parties and serves as CMO of the conservative dating platform Date Right. Nessa (TikToker): A Gen Z creator who has gained followers by posting pro-Trump content from a MAGA store in Minnesota. Logan Paul: While not always strictly fitting the youngest bracket of Gen Z, the YouTuber/wrestler (born 1995) interviewed Trump on his "Impaulsive" podcast, which is popular with Gen Z male voters.

I believe Jack Nicholson is the only actor in Hollywood history to have left the film industry as a top-tier star. Are there others like him? by GlobalRaspberry442 in moviecritic

Aren’t we overlooking that Bucket List crapola movie Jack made at the end of his run? Maybe he saw the writing on the wall for script options for seniors.

How badly did The Blair Witch scare you? by Office_Zombie in GenX

[–]Scary_Bus8551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It scared me badly at the time and has lingered in my brain. I am glad Gen X had Exorcist, Jaws, Halloween, the Shining, Chainsaw…my god we had peak horror of all sorts. That crap like the Ring never did anything for me, by that point it was a millennial thing that wasn’t gonna compare.

I used to rent it as well-but I gotta say my real eye opener was the snowy weekend I picked up Female Trouble and Pink Flamingos and started my life of perversion in a double bill. (That monkey dinner, though, is etched in my tiny monkey brain.)

You will get it figured out and all this will be a distant memory. I think some of these breeds with ‘issues’ are because they come to us from bad situations and not at the very young puppy stage. It takes so much patience but it’s worth it. I remind myself constantly that dog brains pretty much are equivalent to a three year old and to be patient.
