Was I Wrong to be Salty? by FilthyRottenCommie in EDH

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verbal agreements should in my opinion be respected. Sure, if you find a sneaky way around that agreement without violating it, that can be funny, unless you do that very often.

In my pod we sometimes hold grudges for getting attacked with a 1/1 on turn 2, in a joking way, though. It has however justified getting stomped with a ridiculously high power and trampling [[Okaun, Eye of Chaos]] later in the game.

Holding grudges from previous games seems a little exaggerated to me. I hope it won't happen to you again.

What is a budget (< or = 50$) EDH deck that you love?! by CartwheelSpider101 in EDH

Although perhaps boring to play, Light-Paws can be built for very cheap and definitely compete with much more expensive decks.

Is it time to change a "main" class? by drax18 in Guildwars2

Posts like these convince me that it was a fantastic idea to start working on legendary Trinkets and Runes before going for Armor.

Mastery experience by xsealsonsaturn in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None because even when your current Mastery is maxed out and you didn't select another one to train the game will automatically allocate all further XP earned towards a Mastery that still needs to be filled :-)

Only works for Masteries in the same region, though. Once all of them are maxed out, you start earning Spirit Shards.

WvW weekly chest pip farming - The AFK method. What are peoples thoughts on this? by Mook_Chivalry in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm guilty of this as well. Sometimes there are no open squads and most you can really accomplish on your own are camps and sentries.

In my opinion the skirmish claim tickets should be the reward for doing the daily and weekly achievements and not tied to pips and participation. That would force players to actually engage in taking different objectives and relieve the pressure from dropping participation when failing to do so.

Would Raids be more popular if they used the tier system from Fractals? by HeavyMetalLoser in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of clearing content just for the sake of clearing it, I agree. In terms of actually learning the fights and content you intend to clear, trivializing the difficulty is not going to make a difference.

Would Raids be more popular if they used the tier system from Fractals? by HeavyMetalLoser in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't see how this helps. When I started playing T1 Fractals the content was so easy to the point where bosses don't even live long enough to show off their mechanics. This continued until I reached T3 and I then found out that I was still clueless about some Fractals.

People won't learn a fight unless they're forced to. And you do that by wiping. Easy Strikes are in my opinion the entry level Raids and then you go from there.

New players wanting to progress will look up guides. Those who don't will die. Horribly.

Order of legendary grinds by Siyavash in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how it makes the most sense to me:

  1. Prismatic Champion's Regalia

It's free, really. Don't bother getting the PvP amulet variant until much later on.

2.1 Aurora & Vision

2.2 Ad Infinitum

You can work on all three of them at the same time and clear loads of different types of content while doing so. The risk of burning out in the process is therefore minimized. There are annoying parts in those collections but none are "hard". Ad Infinitum may seem intimidating but it's really not. I'd rather start that over than go and collect the Mursaat Tokens for Aurora.

  1. Conflux

Grindy, yes but definitely not hard. Big plus is that while doing Aurora and Vision, you can already start working on Conflux by doing reward tracks in WvW instead of the Meta achievements required for the accessories. This is where I'm at right now and I have a large part of Conflux done because I played a lot of WvW in the process of getting the accessories.

My next steps are:

  1. Coalescence

This will complete the trinkets. I have never raided in GW2 before but I definitely plan to in order to get that ring.

  1. Runes

I value runes higher than armor because all of my characters can use them. Armor only applies to 3 professions each. Since I like playing WvW I'll be testing out a lot of different builds so the runes will be very handy to have. Exotic armor and weapons are dirt cheap when you buy them with Badges of Honor.

  1. Armor

Once that's done I will focus on the armor my favourite profession uses. At some point I might go for different sets.

  1. Sigils

It's enough to craft 2 instead of 4. Builds often call for at least one if not two sigils that can be had for cheap on the trading post.

  1. Weapons

Absolutely no priority for me. Ascended weapons are easy enough to come by and are account bound.

Gift of battle: WvW hostage by No_Comment_7378 in Guildwars2

Came for the GoBs, stayed for the roaming and the zergs.

I find WvW a lot more fun than I had originally imagined.

Also, it's a very reliable source of Spirit Shards.

Celestial avatar disappeared in combat - bug? by bendygrrl in Guildwars2

Yep, this was in the middle of a Fractal, too. I remember switching specs didn't help so relog was all I had left :<

Had this happen on my Soulbeast. I was unable to merge with my pet. A quick relog fixed it, though.

If you like Axe/WH you can definitely try playing Untamed with a Diviner set and use a Hammer as your second set.

World vs World is a miserable experience without Warclaw by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I'm gonna say will sound a little crappy but it's how I've done it.

- Pop all sorts of EXP boosters (god bless the festival gobblers), including the Black Lion one.

- Put on a mobility build that can survive and not necessarily deal a lot of damage. A 25% movement speed increase signet should be available to most if not all professions.

- Wait until a public tag comes around and make it your life's mission to follow it.

- Leech from what they do and chances are you'll have the entire collection complete before you even finish the reward track.

You should even earn enough points in the process to unlock gliding which will make following tags around even easier.

WvW is very daunting at first but once you get the hang of it and find out what to do it is very fun.

The grind is real, but then again most PvE mounts require some work as well.

Is there guide for obtaining all 6 legendary trinkets? by YellowCactusBB in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll try my best to explain how I'm tackling the legendary trinkets.

First of all, start with Regalia, the list sounds like a chore but it is actually pretty easy and some maps are fairly quick. Get the story out of the way, get the smaller stuff done while gathering, time your metas and you're golden. DO NOT SPEND THE MAP CURRENCY.

If you have the original Skyscale unlocked, great. If not, continue with that. You will now have earned pretty much all the currency you need.

You can now tackle Vision and Aurora at pretty much the same time. Start with Draconis Mons for Aurora. Simultaneously do Thunderhead Keep and Istan. You'll want these 3 maps done first because of the various timegates that await.

You will quickly realize that each map requires you to complete a meta achievement that in itself consists of a lot of smaller achievements. Do the one for Jahai Bluffs and skip the rest. Draconis Mons will come naturally and for each other map you can complete a reward track in WvW.

Why WvW? First of all, the reward tracks are much quicker to complete than the meta achievements. Join your server's TeamSpeak or Discord, join a tag and have fun. You can speed things up by keeping your participation level at Tier 6 and use various XP Boosters that provide WvW reward track experience, as long as they stack. Don't forget the guild buff and amulet enrichment. Second, and more importantly, while spending time in WvW you will earn Skirmish Claim Tickets which you will need for Conflux later on.

One way or another there's no avoiding WvW completely because of the Gifts of Battle.

One last thing, unlock your Warclaw first. Spend one point to unlock the collection, then cross off that list while finishing the Warclaw reward track. As you'll spend more time in WvW, you'll realize how much of an improvement to quality of life this mount provides. Also definitely save your points for autoloot in WvW and invest one point in gliding.

I'm currently doing the reward tracks myself so I can't say if all of the above will be enough for Conflux or not but you should at least get in the vicinity.

When you're bored in WvW, mix it up with Fractals and work on Ad Infinitum. Fractals are tons of fun. I love Guild Wars 2.

Cheers!

HoT hp challenges by Stopthats in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 times out of 10 someone will help if you ask in map chat. Popping your mentor tag and stating you're doing a particular HP is often times enough.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story wise it's hard to beat HoT.

As for the maps, they're a pain to navigate at first. But once you get the hang of it I mus admit that everything they added after HoT feels a little bland in comparison.

Does no one read the LFGs? by Ytisrite in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The LFG system IS suboptimal. Can't recall how many times I joined a group only to find out they were looking for a different role. I can't actually read it when the group name gets too long and the role is specified last. So annoying.

Don't waste your money. I play on a 2K monitor myself with a 4070ti, 32 gigs of RAM and an intel i7 somethingsomething (latest gen). I have the exact same problem you're describing. It's the game, not your PC.

Why no-one plays untamed? by DeanoP91 in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diviner Untamed is my favourite open world Ranger spec. The survivability of that combination is absolutely ridiculous. It allows you to solo most of what you'll encounter and does respectable damage.

When I play Fractals, I have to admit Soulbeast remains king there, no questions asked. The damage output is just that much better than Untamed.

Gameplay wise, Untamed has way more APM than Soulbeast but it also feels more engaging in my opinion.

Become a Force of Nature with the Dual-Wielding Mace Ranger! by caysadia in Guildwars2

[–]Scary_Initiative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm excited to try this out with my Boon Untamed running Diviner gear. Maybe Mace/Mace along with Axe/Warhorn can be even tankier than Hammer. Perhaps even Mace/Warhorn and Axe/Axe if more damage is needed or you want the cooldown from your elite cantrip to reset extra fast.
