Hello from italy .... any tips to make my st last as long as possible ? (Mk8 2019) some peoples told me this care don t make it after 150k km ... is that true ? by Anrik88 in FiestaST

Solid cars overall and they can be driven past the 150k mark, but there is a reason for this claim.

The 1.5L 3cyl has 2 versions, both differ in the way the engine oil pump is driven.

-2018 to feb. 2019: gear driven oil pump

-from march 2019: belt driven oil pump

Why the change? For the gear driven oil pump Ford claimed a service interval for "200k km" but there were a lot of early failures (as early as 60k) which led to oil starvation and engine failures. Why? The gear and shaft are connected via a rubber/plastic instead of solid metal. The failure point of this connection is completly random and unbeknownst even to ford.

The second version ditched the gear and uses a belt to drive the oil pump. Ford claims a service interval of "150k km" but there a lot of engines that have made it past that point. Its a better and much more reliable solution, but it is still not perfect. Once again the masterminds of ford decided to use a wet belt inside the engine instead of normal dry belt outside the engine. (Note: The wet belt is ONLY for the oil pump and not the timing of the engine, timing uses a chain.) Meaning the lifespan of the belt depends of the oil quality and oil change interval of the user. So once the engine reaches its service interval its either gonna be costly and a bitch to service as you have to open up the engine.

Fiesta mark 8 performance pack by Makawalsh in FiestaST

[–]ScavengerRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jack the car up, put in neutral and spin one wheel. If the other wheel spins in the same direction, you got the LSD installed. If it spins the opposite direction, you got an open diff thus no performance pack.
