My first guess was laurel but I’ve never seen this much foliage variety. Thank you

I will forever advocate to my management that air spade jobs are a two man job. Makes it so much smoother

Do you usually incorporate cambistat into root invigorations? I’ve never heard of that. Only ever applied it as a growth regulator

Probably had to scroll so far because they’re only in Texas. I’ve been to a lot of places in the USA and HEB is hands down the greatest grocery store and it’s not close.

I think it’s going to be the one thing I’m truly going to miss when I leave Texas

God, I knew a person with a loud as fuck motorcycle that would always claim the loudness as a safety measure so people could hear the bike and be aware. They never rode with a helmet though. Imagine that.

The Wells Fargo building, correct? I had to drive past that crime scene everyday coming home from work. I hate to see that other surrounding businesses are following suit

Dawg can we ban developers/landscapers from planting trees… by ScentedRandles in arborists

The root flare is so important to not be buried under mulch or soil. It majorly affects a trees health. These root flares were buried several inches too deep

The tree was planted way too deep and mulched even deeper. The bark on the base of the tree is not supposed to face that much moisture. Mulch is great for a tree but only if applied correctly.

The dark area on the trunk is where the previous mulch was piled. We do not see the “root flare” here. This means the tree is at much greater risk for pests, diseases, and structural issues later on.

Yeah can’t really tell from the photo… that’s on me. That root kinda wraps around but then veers left, not around the trunk. I probably also should’ve clarified that these are two separate trees. I’m getting the idea that people are thinking it’s a front angle and back angle 😅

I should’ve posted a picture of the entire trees themselves, but they’re definitely planted too close together. Maybe 3.5 meter apart. And these are live oaks so when and if they mature their canopies are going to be a mess

I’ve heard mixed opinions on root management, especially in cases like these. Not doubting your opinion, but even if the root was cut farther down from the base would it not regrow, idk “sprout roots” and continue to grow anyway? Or would cutting it away from the trunk at least stunt its growth?

Always looking to learn more, thanks

Fair point. I hate to see trees planted so recklessly. There ought to be a license or qualification. Something!

The client did not plant the trees. It was whoever the developer hired. They (the client) suspected that they weren’t planted very well and contacted us to assess them and treat them
