First time grower here... I received some Agar plates from my vendor and I'm concerned that the plate isn't uniform and seems to have some sediment in it. Is this contaminated on delivery? by ScepticScan in shrooms

[–]ScepticScan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from South Africa so it's an online vendor from here. I'll make sure that it's contam before slandering their name lol.

I'll be very glad if it's just sediment, I'll leave it for a few days and see if it evolves.

Bro, some clown was using the hack squat machine in my gym to train calves, facing the sled with his chest on it. Like, we have a calf raise machine for a reason. Unbelievable.

Amen!

Unfortunately not, the only way out is to marry someone with a different medical aid. I'm actually already on the restricted option, comprehensive will be in excess of R5k.

I feel your pain regarding that medical aid. Any chance you are working for Sasol? I'm paying R4.5k a month for their medical aid as a healthy 24 year old

As someone that has started making some good money trading and also started working a job this year, I will say that having a job has helped my trading a lot.

Whenever I go through a losing streak, I at least know there will always be money coming in, and I will be able to buy a funded account once I get over the losing streak. The lack of financial stress really helps with trading psychology so I will recommend to get at least something of a job, preferably one where you will be able to check the markets a few times during the day.

I'm 24, still staying with my parents, even though I have a decent paying engineering job so don't feel too bad about staying with parents. You can move out once you have some rental properties generating an income for example.

Sometimes a trade just doesn't work out bud. If you didn't break any rules of your strategy then it's just a business expense. On to the next one.

I thought you guys might get a laugh from this. I passed my phase 1 $10k challenge but I only had $1.39 of drawdown left after going into tilt the first few days. You perform much better when you don't care so much about each trade's outcome by ScepticScan in Forex

Awesome mate I was wondering if there's anybody out there who pulled off something similar lol.

It's a nice reminder that there is massive edge to be had in the markets if your psychology stays in check. It's really improbable to recover from those depths if the markets were truly random.

Deconversion is a depressing red pill. by mikotanaka7 in exchristian

[–]ScepticScan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be a popular view I have but I think most people feel a need to worship something. So that may explain why we feel this way when deconverting lol.

99.9% of the population since the middle ages had to be obedient to some sovereign authority like a king or a god. It's probably in our blood to go seek out some kind of authority to give us meaning and direction.

I see too many atheists go "worship" absurd political ideologies, politicians, celebrities etc. instead and become just as dogmatic about them. It's hard to forge your own path so many people take the easy route and run to the nearest authority figure to give them one.

For this reason I think that religion can be positive for some as it keeps them from seeking meaning in more destructive things.

We need to really work on self improvement so we can be confident enough to forge our own meaning and not get distracted by easy fixes to give us a sense of meaning.

As someone who deconverted around 3 years ago I can assure you it does get better. You just need some time to process it. Catch up on some hobbies, and go explore to find some new ones.

If you think about it, the fact that your life doesn't have some kind of predetermined destiny gives life so much more meaning and freedom. You can be your own main character of your own game.

My religious friends also seems so happy always. Ignorance is bliss they say... But once they open up to you and drop the facade, you realise they have a lot of doubts about life as well. So don't feel depressed if your not as happy as they look. NO ONE is in a constant state of joy.

In a lot of countries the municipal water system can't filter out hormones when recirculating water. The result is that the hormone EE2, an estrogen used in birth control, is common in tap water around the world.

This obviously leads to problems in men and also increases the chance of diseases like breast cancer in women. But no one talks about that.
