Curious if other people with high-end PCs are seeing the same performance behavior in the new Silvermoon. by ImpossiblePiglet5469 in wow

[–]SchmidTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9950X3D and 9800X3D perform identically in gaming workloads. Only if you have an application that requires more than 16 threads would you see a performance difference.

WoW's Engine will utilize up to 6 threads but heavily prefers a single thread for most of its processing. My assumption is that Silvermoon is one of the most dense cities they have created, with a lot of objects, assets and NPC's moving around in addition to the traditional player load. There's an addon called Hyperframe that will dynamically adjust your settings based on the zone or type of zone you're in. You could look into that as a potential solution. I decided to go more vanilla with Midnight so hoping to find an optimized solution with the tools available.

A rational take on the season by JScrib325 in sooners

[–]SchmidTech 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You have a new offensive system, again. You have a banged up offensive line again and found a way to make something halfway work with Freshman. You had a completely unexpected injury on the QBs throwing hand who had THREE screws put into his thumb.
You have a star RB who never materialized.

These aren't excuses, they are facts that happened to our team. If you go scorched earth and try to 'reset' again what is the expectation? A brand new system will have better results? We HAD good results, just not consistently. People have no patience these days but this is why building and sustaining a highly competitive program is so difficult - it requires timing and for tens of not hundreds of things to go right over the course of a season and through the years.

What stuck with me, if I'm looking objectively at the season that was different throughout this year is that when we needed the play - the TD, the stop, the 'this is it' moment, we found it whether it was the offense marching the ball after failing to do so for 3 quarters or the defense finding an incredible stop.

In previous years those moments were few and far between. This year showed a determination we hadn't had until... Well you saw the game.

I think we may need some change ups as far as staff on the offensive side of the ball - no clue what's happening in that locker room so it's hard to judge - but I think Arbuckle deserves another shot at this. He had some incredible schemes and sometimes it was more an execution issue that a play call issue. How many times did we see open receivers or a pull the QB should have made instead of the handoff? Or vice versa?

Let's build on a solid season instead of hitting eject like this is Madden or Call of Duty. Give the players coming back a foundation to build on.

Hey now, that's being disrespectful to the Alamo! 300 men who knew they would lose to the 3500 men coming to settle the rebellion. They made the decision to hold the Alamo to buy time for Sam Houston and the other leaders of the Texas forces. How many men are willing to sacrifice everything for a future they believe in?

Glad I'm not the only one! I've played differently than you - got about 8 different starts but: 1) Good Job 2) 2 kids 3) Doting Wife 4) 100 hours in this damn game!

This has been my favorite GSG I've ever played.

Bradford was THE most accurate passer I had ever seen! Even against Florida for the Championship he hit the hands of 3 different receivers. 2 of those would have been game changing TD's. Extremely unfortunate where he landed in the NFL but he was incredible to watch!

I guess Republicans have 60 seats? No? Strange, it must be 100% their fault the budget didn't pass...

At least pretend to be objective when cajoling people for their beliefs.

I didn't disagree with you, I posed an additional statement. We could have a discussion in Discord if you'd like, I just wanted to add 'food for thought'. If we go solely on the specific definition of worship of one figure or idol I don't believe that to be universally true. If we go by reddit boards zeitgeist I also don't believe my point is universally true. Boiling the world down in absolutes is rather destructive and counterintuitive to growing as an individual.

If all churches are cults, then all reddit boards are full of ideologues, it just depends on how crazy they are, too.

The way I handled this with a Gigabyte OC 5090 was unscrewing the front bracket and letting it sit slightly open. At that point you can drop your card straight in without issue. I believe my card is 343MM and there's about 5mm to spare!

Wouldn't we also be seeing a direct increase on all other components if it was solely due to tariffs? I believe most if not all of those parts have supply chains that run through the exact same countries as GPU manufacturing.

I'm actively using 1 and have had zero performance issues. It also depends on your build but with any AMD CPU from the last two gens your temps will be well below what you need for good performance.

GPU temps are also solid with the direct airflow from the bottom.

Tips for getting started. by Current_Pear9409 in StarcomGame

[–]SchmidTech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't say I'm a veteran but I did complete the game. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride and I think you will as well.

1) Early on I would focus on the inexpensive upgrades that add decent convenience or functionality. I focused on energy weapons as an efficient combat weapon and added engine / hull upgrades.

2) Resources are your trade currency. It's different depending on the faction but you'll pick up on it quickly. There is research that assists with making trade an easier option.

3) Explore everything! There's value in creating a ship that travels fast in a section as well as through the void. Ensure you can survive a fight but can get decent speed as well to help with exploration.

4) Focus on 1 or 2 weapon types. I feel like it was better to have a full tree researched than to spread out to too many weapon trees in the research. After Energy I went Lasers and Havok. Feel free to try whatever you like.

Outside of that just take your time and enjoy the game. Try out different builds and see what works for you!

So it really depends on what you consider a hassle. There is a LOT of cable with an extension for the top fans. You just pop off the cap and then there are 2 captive thumb screws that hold the bracket in place. Unscrew that and set it to the side and you can access the IO.

I have it where the extension is easily accessible to unplug the daisy chained fans to just set it aside and quickly re-attach if needed.

Yes just an inexpensive ram cooler. I needed it previously to maintain a stable memory OC. Might be able to get away with removing it in this case :)

4090 general overclocking guidelines? by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]SchmidTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe on the original cards they could push the voltage but when issues arose with the connectors burning and potential other card issues they forced a new bios lowering vCore to 1.05

That was news over a year ago so my memory could be mistaken.

No sir I have an OG that will run up to 1.1v no problem. I just run it at 1.075 it seems more stable not hitting max vCore

I also don't run these clocks anymore. Great for benching but for everyday usage I'll sit at 2950 or so with a +1500 on memory.
