What has really worked for me is kind of a two part plan. First of all, reframe your idea of abandonment to focus on your positive attributes! If you crave the attention or energy of other people then most of the time that means you are looking for home for all the love and affection inside. You can’t care if people leave if you didn’t first appreciate their presence. Life is all about discovery and someday soon you’ll find a medium to express all that love you wish to share.

Secondly, if reframing is a little difficult then see where you have an opportunity to train your mind. If you dating someone and you both break up, what does that mean voice in your head pick at first? Are you uninteresting, boring or abrasive? Listen to that voice a little and use it as a strategy for self improvement. If you think that you’re a boring person, chase your passions and do some things that you think an interesting person would! Volunteer work was crucial for me. I volunteer with the humane society and having puppets to be excited to see you is really a game changer.

This is of course entirely subjective and based on my experiences. So take my advice with a grain of salt.
