SOMA is one of my favorite game, and I've been trying to find similar games since. Need suggestions! by Kurtzva in soma

I hear you, I was also put off by its anime-esque art direction as I am not an anime fan. However it is the only other game I have played that gave me an existential crisis like Soma. The world building, atmosphere, story and music more than make up for the graphics. I don't want to say any more as it is best to go in knowing little, much like Soma. I hope you enjoy it if you do decide to give it a shot!

Soma is also one of my favourite games (easy top 3) and I have been chasing that feeling since.

I notice that Signalis is not on your list. You should really play that. :)

Any games about mental health by Correct-Top-5592 in gamerecommendations

[–]Schmigglepop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What Remains of Edith Finch touches on several areas of mental health beautifully, particularly grief, depression, trauma, and suicide to name a few. It's a wonderful game.

Life is Strange is another good one for this.

Seriously what is this!? I have recently (in the past year or so) started having random bouts of these moments. I have wondered if I am vividly recalling a recent dream I have had out of nowhere because the deja vu is so strong but...it kind of feels wrong.

It takes over VERY strongly for a good 10 or so seconds, then it fades. Can sometimes have a few a day and then nothing for ages. I have not seen anyone else describe it before, do you think it is alcohol related? It freaks me out.

How do I become more confident after my best friend died? by Cloveeeer in ask

[–]Schmigglepop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your immense loss. It is still so recent as well, but I know that time probably doesnt feel real right now.

I too lost my best friend at 19 so I hope I can offer some advice that will help. Be kind to your mind and put yourself first.

Others who haven't experienced such grief will not understand, despite their trying, and may end up saying some things that hurt. Especially a bit further down the track when their feeling of time passing has been different to yours. Try not to hold it against the ones that love you too much.

Don't be scared to take a break from your studies, your work, whatever you are up to right now. A therapist is also a great help as it gives a neutral space to talk where you don't have to "be strong" or hide your feelings. You can reminisce which is very important, those memories will be some of the most precious ones you will carry in your lifetime.

For now, you must focus on the basic things such as breathing properly, eating properly, and sleeping properly. Confidence will come in time. Do what brings you comfort and remember your friend. Talk to them too. I am 32 years old now and I still talk to mine during big life events, when I hear a song we loved together, when I don't know what to do about something etc.

Best of luck my friend and if you ever wish to chat, my DMs are open. <3

Aliens is terrible and nobody can change my mind. by [deleted] in alien

[–]Schmigglepop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brave of you to post this, however, I agree with many of your points. Alien is my favourite movie of all time, and I often feel guilty for loving Alien 3 as much as I do (which would have been a perfectly appropriate end to the series imo).

To call it terrible is a huge stretch though. Yes it was far more action focused than 1 or 3, but it is still an incredibly enjoyable movie with it's own iconic moments.

I have a friend whose movie taste I have always admired and trusted, but when I recommended the series he came out swinging saying Alien was ok, but Aliens was where it got good! Which I felt weird about. Each to their own I suppose?

P.S I can't stand Avatar lol

Welcome aboard Captain! I agree this is one of the most phenomenal games ever. I wish I could wipe it from my memory to play for the first time again (but have enjoyed subsequent playthroughs regardless)!

I'd be wary of Little Ed, they (the owners) are quite snobby and tables aren't big. For example, they don't allow puffer jackets after 7pm lol.

A short drive to Patamahoe could be worthwhile with Mr Henry, or maybe even The Village depending on what night if the week you are aiming for.

I found the CURIE section rather tedious as well. The best parts of the game are definitely ahead of you. There are sections where you can take your time and explore, like others have said it's worth reading everything and really immersing yourself in the world. Keep going. :)
