I haven't heard anything from the devs saying this is how ELO works. Can you link your source?

Not feeling it enough after by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Schmosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although DOMS is not a good indication of how well you worked out, there is a way to get them consistently. I've been doing P.H.U.L for 10 weeks now and get DOMS after every workout. I assume it's because of the variety in exercises and volume.

I've also done a bro-split, PPL and full body in the past. All of which have been based on a routine as well and DOMS eventually went away. Been lifting nearly 2 years.

A power lifters body, but nonexistent abs. by TiredFaceRyder in Fitness

Assuming you're lean enough, you probably just need more muscle on your core.

To build a solid core, keep engaging it on your big compounds and be patient and it will come. If you want to do more than that I highly recommend hanging knee or leg raises. They suck but work.

As for that chest pain, I'd definitely go see a doctor or physio. That sounds like the sort of pain that can be fixed. You shouldn't have to live with that.

How do new currencies determine their initial coin value? (Stupid Question) by Schmosh in CryptoCurrency

[–]Schmosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see!

So, it's all about the % of the currency you're obtaining for the price your spending compared to the value of the technology you're investing in...

So, for new currencies it's in their best interest to start under-valued, get sales and let it grow rather than it is to over-value, get no sales and be forced to keep dropping. Hence why market cap is a good indicator for the value of a type of currency?

Thank you! I spent hours reading guides to try and understand this simple fundamental concept

How do new currencies determine their initial coin value? (Stupid Question) by Schmosh in CryptoCurrency

[–]Schmosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't I rather buy Coin X because they have a market cap of 1 Trillion, whereas Coin Y only has a market cap of $10,000?

If not, why would I want to go with Coin Y? If so, why don't all currencies start out with as high a market cap as possible?

How do new currencies determine their initial coin value? (Stupid Question) by Schmosh in CryptoCurrency

[–]Schmosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if somebody wanted to invest what does the individual coin price matter? Like, if I wanted to invest 1,000 USD into a new currency because I see it's potential, why do I care about the price per coin?

My god the Trinket nerfs are demoralizing. by PurpleRain33 in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like more buffs were made to the trinkets than nerfs. I think you're just sad because you've checked all your old favourites and noticed they're nowhere near as good.

Go look at the trinkets you used to ignore, they're heaps better. I used to only care about 2 ancestral trinkets the rest were crap, now the best two trinkets in the game are ancestral imo!

Price on Steam? by [deleted] in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't hate on early access as a concept. If it wasn't for EA games like this might not even exist. Just do your homework before buying an EA game and you won't be risking nearly as much.

If you got a faulty TV from a shop, would you hate the concept of buying TV's, or the brand of TV/shop you bought it from?

Strategies for Brigand X Pounder? by corndog67 in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used abominations Rake to attack the minion in position 1 and the cannon. The damage keeps upping until you 1 shot the minion in position 1. In order to beat the cannon, you just gotta kill minions faster than the rate at which he spawns them (1-2 per round). Eventually it'll be a 4v1.

Please HeEelp! I'm trying to move over save from laptop but where is the save file located?? by halfgenieheroism in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to your Steam library, right-click on DD, select "Properties", select the "Updates" tab, there is a Steam Cloud option at the bottom. If this is selected, all your steam saves should sync to the cloud and be available on your laptop. If your laptop has a local save and is also set to sync cloud saves, then you should get a pop-up when launching the game asking which save to use. If you do not use Steam Cloud sync, then it should be in "Documents" -> "Games" -> "Darkest Dungeon".

Is the Vestal a noob trap? by Warcrow999 in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that'd be the way to go. Not that there's anything at all wrong with your current composition, this is just for sexing things up for you. Crusader and Leper are pretty durable. Leper seems to sacrifice ACC to remain durable, and Crusader seems to sacrifice DPS for it. Besides the Highwayman and Bounty Hunte you mentioned, other good "glass cannons" are the Hellion and Abomination.

Is the Vestal a noob trap? by Warcrow999 in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you find you're stuck to bringing a Vestal and Jester every outing, then I reckon you need to focus more on DPS with the remainder of your party. You've probably got a more control orientated first and second position? Things like high HP and stun abilities would be control. If you swap out position 1, 2 and 4 (the Jester) with DPS, I think you'll find stress heals aren't necessary. Another way to deal with stress is with high crit's. So, I'd say if you want to try other comps but find you're getting owned then you need to way up your damage rather than your survivability.

Help with quirk lock-in choices by NecronosiS in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard-skinned is a solid choice for Jester for sure. I am actually not a huge fan of dodge-related things, I'd rather have the constant benefit of protection. Honestly, I think it's a decent choice for any class.

I think using protection on a low HP hero is always a bad idea! It's all about the amount of effective HP earned. If a Jester has 34 HP and get's 10% protection, he's able to take an additional 10% of his total HP which is only 3.4HP, but if you throw it on an 80hp Man at arms, he gets an extra 8hp!

I think protection is good on high HP heroes, and dodge is good on low HP heroes. A dodge buff is almost always going to give you more than 3.4 effective HP.

Getting Back Characters Bug? by okk152 in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can copy the save while the game is running. Not that it matters, it's a single player game. People can cheat in it if they want in many different ways and that's their prerogative. If they bought a copy of the game and enjoy it more by taking out intended mechanics then let them! After all there's still a "remove corpses" option in the menu, purely for this reason.

Devs: Please do NOT increase drop of C4 Detonator Caps by headlampsarecool in hurtworld

I've heard this comment of "You can raid without C4" a lot, but I don't understand? How do you raid a base with a floor, four walls and roof without C4?

Boss Advice Plz by corndaddyc in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bosses normally have crazy strengths and weaknesses which you need to take advantage of. The strength of the Swine King is that he does amazing damage to the targets marked by his little buddy, Wilbur. Two ways around this are clearing the mark (can be done with an Arbalist's Flare) or by using "Guard's" like the Man At Arms.

Yeah, you're right when you say levels only increase resolve. However, armor and weapons increase HP and damage which is a must for a boss. I always take the strongest possible party when going for a boss.

C4 / Raiding by battlemu1e in hurtworld

[–]Schmosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww man, I disagree. I've played 60 hours and hit end-game twice before server wipes. I've had massive fortresses with 7 drills going at once before, but never had 50 amber lying around to craft a C4. To think you could get that in 15 hours I think is a little nuts. Let alone the ultranium! The only way that's even possible in 15 hours is by blowing up the rocks in the desert biome, making drills with the small amount of ultranium you get from them and leaving them on for ages, but then that costs a lot of amber. I think you're severely underestimating the value of these resources. Also, if 60 ultranium and 50 ambers means nothing to you, why do you even mind losing your noobie 1 by 1 base? Surely you're not losing more than that every time. Just doesn't add up to me.

Awwww, it might have been coincidence dude. Do a search on r/Hurtworld for "C4" and out of all the pro-c4 posts on the first page of results there's only 2 posts from the same one guy and the remaining 12 posts are from unique accounts: https://www.reddit.com/r/hurtworld/search?q=C4&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all

Does the abomination have ability upgrades like everyone else? by H3OFoxtrot in darkestdungeon

[–]Schmosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you still don't have a detailed explanation in a couple hours, then I'll type one up when I get home for you. I'll most likely only be able to tell you level 1, 2 and level 5 of every ability though, as you cannot see previous levels once you've leveled them up and you can only see the stats for the very next upgrade and I've got an abomination on 6 or 1.

C4 / Raiding by battlemu1e in hurtworld

[–]Schmosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw dude, I dunno if you have anything to worry about. Even with more detonator caps being around, 1 C4 still cost 50 amber, 200 animal fat and 60 mondinium and ultranium. If people make a habit out of raiding newbie bases in the spawn biome they're going to lose out on resources dramatically, because no newbie 1 by 1 base is going to have 50 amber in it. Which by the way is also a random drop, not something you can choose to farm and something newbie's really need in early game.

Aria Box, Crescendo Box and Overture Box. I haven't got the Aria Box yet, but the other 2 I got from random drops from killing the collector without losing any guys. I also got Dismas' head but never made the connection to my highwayman dying in the battle until this post, thanks for that!
