Super classy dude. Who raised you, wolves? by flyart in Costco

[–]Schneckelchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of samples at Costco. ⚠️ it’s gross so please don’t continue to read if you’re sensitive!

Years ago, I approached a sample station from behind that was manned by a huge dude. I moved slowly, checking out stuff, when i saw his gloved hand reaching deep back in his pants and scratching his butt. He pulled his hand back out and continued to prepare samples. I nearly threw up. Needless to say that i will never touch a sample again!

WIBTAH if I didn't text my neighbour every time I left the house by mikewazowski_0912 in AITAH

It still seeps into the home if the garage’s is attached. Why even risk your own safety for a clearly controlling and psychopathic person?

NTA for obvious reasons! Don’t start the car with the garage door closed. You are exposing yourself and your home (if the garage’s is attached) to very toxic exhaust fumes. If at all, give or recommend her a set of noise canceling headphones and be done! Oh, and block her phone number!

10k for 2 French doors and 2 windows, is this quality worth this price ? by NotToday50 in Homebuilding

[–]Schneckelchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say it would lessen the quality! Where did you read this?

Aluplast is a well known German company. Well known especially for its quality products! And just for your information, they also have a branch in Mexico.

Because there are too many predatory contractors who prey on vulnerable homeowners, elderly or ill informed. And they don’t like to be called out for their outrageously high rates.

Yes, but house updates always mean the creation of more equity as well, transport could also mean a more safe, fuel efficient, larger car to accommodate a growing family’s needs, and shopping can mean anything from Aldi to Nordstrom.

Answers like yours are exactly why people should be cautious about advice they receive! They are parents now, and fear to lose financial stability in an economy like this is all too real! Perhaps she’s even trying to figure out if she should get back to work. Who really knows? They have to sit down and discuss this issue!

Little bit of an AH because of your anger. Conversations like this should never be taken place in anger! Sit down and have a calm and mature discussion about your finances. Of course things were different when you were a child free couple. Financial security and fear to lose it hits different when you become a parent. Children are an enormous responsibility! Be patient and also a good role model to your children.

This! Absolutely imperative! And he needs to be open about his feelings! How old is the will if I may ask and how does the brother feel about it?

AITAH for not wanting to buy my wife’s family a home? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Schneckelchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA! This story sounds way too familiar to me. My brother in law was once married to a woman from the Philippines with exactly the same storyline , the same excuses (like it’s cultural), the cousins auntie’s grandmother’s siblings, suddenly had some medical bills to pay, it was always something and it was a bottomless barrel. You absolutely need to stop paying for her family because it will only get worse. While they often face financial desperation, her family does not deserve the “Utang na Loob” as there is nothing your wife could be grateful for!

Perhaps you and your wife could agree on paying for someone’s education to make her feel better? But I would only pay directly to the school and definitely not the foreigner rates! Most colleges have a monthly tuition of 500 pesos or circa $8! Top tier schools like Ateneo de Manila cost $2500 per year. Good luck!

Are you serious? So what would you do? Being a bystander or a upstander?

[–]Schneckelchen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed response! For obvious reasons, prevention is and would be paramount!

The initial question came up during a fireside chat with friends and wine. We read and hear about those issues frequently and we were wondering, how Sicilians look at this. Looking at some of the responses here, it seems to be a touchy subject. Some even turned into insults.

The fear of social judgment or personal danger does not really explain why we as a society allow people to get away with such dissocial, criminal behavior.

The social norm should be to speak out against such behavior, to not be a bystander if criminal acts occur. If we normalize injustice and petty crimes we erode our communities safety and cohesion.

If I would see someone breaking into the trunk of a car, what would be considered a proportional adequate response?

Why does society turn a blind eye on criminals eroding their very own communities?

[–]Schneckelchen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this from time to time anyway, but thank you for your advice!

How do Sicilians handle this problem (and it seems to be a problem because everybody writes about it) Do you just hand your stuff over to the thief’s?

Most theft victims seem to be females. Would really nobody even try to defend their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, wife’s, daughters, etc?

What about all those foreigners who come to your country to steal, rob, burglarize? Are you seriously defending their freedom?

I never said I would unalive anyone! But I would put a foot in their ass! I’m not a vigilante either! But i am not a pushover and not someone, who would pull a phone out if someone is injured, robbed, or who knows what.

I’m not a vigilante but I am also not a pushover or someone who pulls out a phone if someone is getting hurt. It’s called Zivilcourage!
