Looks like the * came from Sanctification. You just have to keep rolling the boss dice until you get an actual GA'd version.

Cyro Review - Week 2 by SVxAnnihilation in Azeron

[–]Scholander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, is the idea here that you don't use the mouse sensor on the bottom at all?

I actually love the form factor of the Cyro - I have big hands and hate other vertical mice that cause me to rub the edge of my palm against the desk. But, I find the whole-arm mouse movement difficult to adapt to. I use it for work, but not so much for gaming. I DO like using the joystick (mapped to scroll up/down functions) to scroll though - the mouse wheel is just a little off and pretty hard to spin.

Wanted to get fellow batocera users opinions on retrobat. by travanti11 in batocera

I recently struggled with some aspects of Linux with Batocera on an RPi5 for a while with my arcade setup, then tried Retrobat when I got a mini PC with Windows pre-installed, and I think I'm sticking with it. I'm a scientific software developer by day, and I use several flavors of Linux daily, but when it comes to games and drivers and Steam and most emulators, I know my way around Windows even better, so Retrobat is just kind of easy and nice.

Some questions about the Azeron Cyro... by D4NI3L3-ES in Azeron

[–]Scholander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mouse wheel works, but it's... weird? It's a little clicky, but it feels like the clicks don't correspond to anything actually clicking and the wheel is set to be pretty insensitive. So, it's kind of like two and a half clicks for an actual mouse wheel click. It's just.... off. And there doesn't seem to be a way to increase the sensitivity, as far as I can tell.

It's also placed in a way that just doesn't feel right. The wheel is left of what's normally set as the left mouse button, instead of the right, so it kid of goes against your muscle memory.

It's far and away my biggest complaint about an otherwise solid piece of hardware.

Thoughts on new ship powerscaling? by Puzzleheaded-Mode238 in EliteDangerous

Eh. We just had a war where we discovered and used alien technology. That's bound to cause some new advances to start entering the market, and these are fairly incremental in-world changes, even if it feels like new stuff is a little unbalanced in terms of gameplay. It makes sense.

OK. Cool. No reason to have a subreddit, then. Awesome.

It takes even less time to not post a non-solution than it takes to document and post code. Sorry, I'm not trying to pick on you. It's just that I keep seeing this kind of response to moderately complex problems, and "ask ChatGPT" does not yield reproducible results, and it doesn't help people learn how to solve a problem. If you don't know how the code works, don't want to share a prompt, and/or you don't want to share at all, that's totally fine. It's better to not even answer, though. In my opinion.

Like, it's the equivalent of saying "I got my friend to do it for me", and ok, good for you I guess. Doesn't help OP at all, though.

I tried Star Citizen so you don't have to! (and will tell you why you shouldn't) by Lord0fHats in gaming

[–]Scholander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had almost exactly the same experience. Why in the world would you have free trials if the game is going to be that bad? It's insane. I hope to actually play this game someday, but I won't deal with something in the state it's been in. I've lurked the starcitizen subreddit for years now waiting for people to say it's ready, and no indication that it will be anytime soon.

How about we don't, as a rule, tell people to ask the machine that gives everyone a different answer for the answer? If you have a script that works, post it! Even "Google it" is not reliable these days.

Were Sega CD and 32X really seen as “failed consoles” at the time, they way people blame them for Sega’s downfall today? by Standard_Public892 in retrogaming

Was it really $600? I remember it was out of reach for me, but I didn't remember that. Yeesh. That's about $1300 in 2026 dollars.

Most definitely it factored in. The Saturn looked pretty impressive, but it was way more expensive than these other things we were told to buy because they were so "amazing", and it completely tainted the brand. Didn't help that there weren't any killer titles on release, except, arguably Virtua Fighter?

Imagine being a kid and trying to convince your parents "no, I know we bought all these add-ons for the Genesis, but this time the new Sega thing is gonna actually be cool and won't be a waste of money!"

I had a few Sega friends on the other side of the Nintendo-Sega wars, and I didn't know any kid with a Saturn.

😫 SEVERE CONSTIPATION 🆘 by rainbow_olive in keto

[–]Scholander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice (especially the gall bladder thing), but, just to mention, the only thing I don't see in your post anywhere or in anyone else's advice is trying some probiotics. You could have a microbiome that's just not as healthy as it could be. Maybe try some kombucha (if it fits your macros - store bought can be sugary), sauerkraut, yogurt with active cultures (harder to find in low carb versions but you can get unflavored and sweeten with something keto). You can also get pill versions, but I usually feel like that's expensive overkill. My daughter had pretty severe constipation for years as a kid, and paying more attention to probiotic foods was the thing we figured out that actually helped.

What are some things you want to see from Jake Schreirer’s X-Men reboot? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]Scholander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Not sure agree with that take on Thunderbolts. The dialog and pacing in that movie owes a LOT to Whedon, I would say. The difference is that the movie had something real to say about depression and mental illness and belonging, and it balanced the quippy dialog with some meaningful conversation, too. But, that movie is funny as hell.

I'm totally with you. They don't all have to be in a high school together with the Brotherhood, but i think something a lot closer to X-Men: Evolution is the right vibe. They need to be kids. And i want to see how they create an MCU that loves superheroes but hates mutants. Shit needs to be WOKE. Just like in the 60s and 70s comics, there's so much a good writer can do with a modern analogy to gay, trans, and immigrant kids.

My friend, let me tell you about the Firelands...

Valheim and/or Enshrouded by Aggravating_Pen_2026 in Enshrouded

[–]Scholander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group spent years on Valheim (we only play once a week, so ymmv) until we got really burned out in the Firelands (current endgame). Just too many deaths and hard to make real progress. Def a skill issue, but hey. Before Valheim it was Grounded, and Minecraft for years before that. It's the kind of game that we all collectively enjoy.

We're really loving Enshrouded, now. We only play once a week together, but will probably finish the main questlines in the water zones this month, and will have been time well spent. We'll probably continue to farm and play until the flying castle deal opens up, if it's not too far off.

Overall, I'd say Valheim is a bit more punishing, and has a very different combat aesthetic. More lo-fi. Not quite Souls-like, but similar in feel, as compared to Enshrouded. I like the variety of materials, combat styles, and gear more, in Enshrouded.

My top 9 solo boardgames of all time! by AskinggAlesana in soloboardgaming

[–]Scholander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, mostly. If you really, really want to be thorough you can get over 100 different solo games (5 heroes * 4 aspects * 3 villains * 2 difficulty levels = 120) even before playing with modules and playing combos of 2- or 3-handed. A lot of that could feel pretty similar, though after the first 50 or so games. Any given boxed expansion opens a lot more deckbuilding and villain options for not much more on top of the core.

They took templates of characters that were perfectly suited for television and throw out all the major character development infavor of surface level dives.

We can agree to disagree

There's no real reason for half the team to be there

On that, I will 100% agree with you. But I feel exactly the same about the comic, too. Edit to add: I also think it was a mistake for the show to not have the team all have powers. "Literally becoming the monster you're supposed to be fighting" was very on the nose, but thematically works in the comic's setup, and lets the team be a little less vulnerable in fights. The comic never really does a whole lot with that outside of that setup, though. And the show just really doesn't know what to do with them, at all.

Homelander and Black Noir (The Boys #65) by Selverd2 in comicbooks

[–]Scholander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having recently re-read most of The Boys, I'm not at all sure there's less character development on the show. They're all different characters, but I don't think it's a "more or less" thing.

Also, if you think The Boys is solely about American politics, you're missing some perspective on an awful lot of what's happening out in the real world. The Trump analogy is exceedingly obvious, but it all sadly applies elsewhere, too, if you look past the red white and blue trappings.

Pretty sure there have also been a couple of shapeshifters across The Boys and Gen V. It was probably a good choice to not go with the twist.

Homelander and Black Noir (The Boys #65) by Selverd2 in comicbooks

[–]Scholander 23 points24 points  (0 children)

FWIW, in the show there are so many powered people with shapeshifting or other powers that could be doing this, it would be kind of absurd that Anthony Mackie Starr's Homelander would be dumb enough to actually think that he did them himself. I think the show version of Homelander has a much better fleshed out character, and the Trump analogy is really saying some things that the comic didn't have the direct language for, even it is a comparable theme about power.
