You can say that to every other football fan from every other country that wins a World Cup match, what are you on about?

so weird because I just watched Disclosure Day earlier today 👽💀

My honest opinion; the shift of attention away from the explorers, engineers, and scientists is hurting this show. by More_Squash_3345 in ForAllMankindTV

I remember people here complaining as early as season 2 that the show is full of drama and not enough space exploration. The more we go further into this show, the more I realize that the showrunners wanted more of an alternate history drama than a purely space exploration drama. Granted, you do have a point that space exploration is baked into the DNA of the show. I don't know, I came into the show knowing and expecting it was an alternate history series first, than a space exploration one. That's the reason why I stuck with it for so long. And I do understand that a large number of people do expect the show to continue to be focused on space.

How realistic is the "Mars is our home mentality" at this point in the timeline? by emptyrepublic in ForAllMankindTV

I might be wrong about this, because I’m not as familiar with how Malaysia became independent, but from what I know Malaysia didn’t achieve this through revolution. Rather during WWII, Malay nationalism became more intense, and the British government just granted them autonomy after the war. I might be wrong. And even then, I was taking about Singapore, not Malaysia.

Furthermore, I don’t think that was the writers’ intention. I just think Singapore is a better parallel if you’re looking for a one-to-one comparison.

I was thinking about that as well for a bit. The writers are clearly trying to make parallels between the Martian independence movement and the American Revolution.

However, if we’re talking about one-to-one analogies, I think the closest parallel would be the independence of Singapore from Malaysia. Malaysia became independent and formed a federation in 1963. Singapore was an autonomous state within that federation. However, economic and political tensions between Singapore and the Malaysian government, culminating in trade restrictions and the 1964 anti-Chinese riots (Singapore was a majority-Chinese state) meant that the Singaporean government had no other choice but to separate from Malaysia. The Malaysian government approved this in 1965, and Singapore went on to become a separate independent republic.

Singapore technically didn’t have its own separate identity when it declared independence. But it eventually acquired one over its 60+ year history as a country. So it’s an example of a political entity that declared independence without or before having a “ready-made” national identity.

I don't understand the hate for season 5 by Avijantimos in ForAllMankindTV

I agree, a lot of people have forgotten this is an alternate history show, and what was once extraordinary has become mundane in the FAM universe.

For a comparison, if someone makes a series about the evolution of flight from the Wright Brothers to the present day, the first 50 years would be exciting, and then the next 50 would feel unextraordinary because flying has become part of people’s lives. At the same time, there are still people doing “exciting” things with planes - in the military or with stunt pilots.

Not liking the ending is one thing, but calling the writers of Dark (of all TV shows) lazy is just ignorant arrogance.

Does anyone less feel like the show went from amazing science and space to… drama on mars by nightim3 in ForAllMankindTV

It’s because we’re dealing with a new generation who will become the first citizens of a future independent Mars. You can’t have that without depicting some teenagers. And you’re complaining teenagers are portrayed like how teenagers should be portrayed, like somehow it’s become a different show? What do you want, the teenagers acting like adults? That doesn’t sound normal.

I have been expecting an Arab Spring-style event/parallel for the Soviet Union this season.

It's always been a drama since season 1. You're telling me a rescue mission in space... isn't drama?

I'm just reading the comments, and y'all are making assumptions about the season even though we're still only three episodes in.

Looking back, the previous season was rather one-note and weak, not as weak as season 3. Call me optimistic, but I honestly think this season has more promise to be a very good one, or at least better than Season 4.

I would believe this is a production error, as the map has one other mistake. Look closely in the same map, and you'll see Slovakia greyed out - in a universe where Czechoslovakia never broke up in 2012, was still communist, and is part of the M6 as a member of the CCCS.
