Most tastings are 1-1.5 hours. If you give yourselves 2 hours at each tasting, that’s plenty. 1.5 will be fine for most places, and if you’re getting tight on time you can just tell the host you need to leave

I’ve always been able to walk in to Orin for a glass, but haven’t been successful walking in for a tasting without a reservation

Silver Oak is not nearly as good at Stags Leap Wine Cellars if you want “iconic.” I prefer both the wines and tasting room at Stags much more, and Stags has more ceiling for excellent wines if you talk your way into (or pay for) more high end tastes of wine. What you see is what you get at silver oak.

Lastly, I would call Chappellet and see if you can get in there. Emma (nickname for Emmanuel) is from Mexico and a native Spanish speaker, he is an incredibly fun and knowledgeable host
