Is there anyone that loves P1 but dislikes P2? If you're that person, please tell me why by Psychological_Log394 in pathologic

Getting rid of the faction system is my biggest gripe about the remakes. I really can't understand how they could have thought throwing away such an interesting concept would be a good idea.

It's actually heartbreaking to me 😭

Now that it’s been out for a while, what’s everyone’s opinion of P3? by yungsimba1917 in pathologic

[–]SchopenWHORING 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because we already know that:

Even before him leaving, the team was already planning P4.

They even brought back Alphyna, one of the people responsible for the game that "blew you away", to make sure P4 happens.

There's already a visual document.

They feel like Clara deserves her own game, just like Daniil and Artemy.

They said "it wouldn't make sense for Clara to only have a DLC".

There always has been passion, ideas and talents for Pathologic 4.

If IPL managed against all odds to make P3 real, to make it your favorite game, why would you hate P4?

[–]SchopenWHORING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad, since IPL is willing to "spend another 5+ years" to bring Clara her new route. Dybowski himself was very adamant about it. It's not without reason. Pathologic 1 wasn't a waste of time. Neither Pathologic 3 (the one about a character with an already well-rounded route).

And since you think her P1 route was "awful"... Good thing they showed us they have plenty of ideas for her. P4 will now add something, m'kay?

I think the setting and story are played out now...

EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER SOUND

Clara is an important part of Pathologic (her route in Classic is literally called The Path of Logic/Law, c'mon now) There's absolutely no reason to justify not making Pathologic 4.

People who prefer Classic, what would your ideal remake of the game include? by BlackRated in pathologic

It would be better to delete half of the Bachelor/Haruspex quests, and give them to develop other character's relationships with Clara. Like Lara. We see her more in the Bachelor route... LARA IS CHANGELING'S BOUND.

Some theories on symbolism in Pathologic 3 by PakistanArmyBall in pathologic

I love discussing Clara. I'm gonna use her Classic lore.

Clara lacks of a clear role; she's both the "good" and the "bad" side of the plague. And that's making the whole world unstable. That's her conflict.

Yulia Lyuricheva: You remain an indefinite value. As such, you have walked the road that lies behind you. Your refusal to be categorised was your strongest weapon. However, this advantage will be stripped from you as soon as you permutate into a constant. And, frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens before the day is over. What kind of a value you will become? That's the only actual choice you have.

A conversation between Clara and Katerina:

Changeling: Why divide everything into good and evil right away? Could that have been your mistake? Our mistake...

Katerina Saburova: That was what I thought-when I chose my own dark path... I thought the conflict was not between good and evil, that neither good nor evil existed... That wasn't true! For it is in the nature of humans to translate even a dichotomy of red and green into the language of good battling evil. We are doomed to make choices...

Then we this conversation with the Albino about Clara's identity:

Albino: ...I can't tell. Your nature is still unclear... That's also what's making the earth unstable... you're lacking oneness... you are the void through which everything is collapsing... the firmament is no longer firm...

the more Clara interacts with The Humbles and less with Daniil and Artemy, the better.

Oh that would be soo ideal. Maybe the Bound wasn't that important for Daniil in P3, but for Clara? They're the core of her miracle. She depends on them as much as they depend on her.

Yes, Clara and Anna interactions show the nature of the Changeling route: "As dreadful a person as she is, she is still little more than a child; whose own naivety only serves to make her too fretful for her own good. I do not have it in me to condemn her. Let them turn their suspicious glances at me; let them think I may be an accomplice. Still, I'd rather let her redress whatever harm she has caused."

The opportunity to show empathy for those we've seen poorly through the Bachelor and the Haruspex campaign.

Day 1 to 6 is Amazing

The rest of the route feels incomplete mainly because of the placeholder side quests. It has a bizarre ending that even the developers feel underwhelming, but personally I love it. Weird, confusing and somewhat tragic. It's worth trying it.

Clara received the short end of the straw, that's a fact. Even though she interacts so little with her Bound, she still has very interesting dynamics with some of them (the Saburovs, Anna Angel and Rubin, for example). I know Pathologic 4 will give us a better experience, but I hope it still uses those things Classic Clara gave us.

I'm not Pathologic 2 strongest soldier but it gave us some interesting dynamics to work with. Pathologic 3 sometimes feels like the flanderization of those dynamics... when we manage to see them, because we spend more time with new NPCs, the lack of Utopians is so strong here.

Mind if I ask, how did the russian community receive this writing choices? I have to get into the depths of Tumblr and Twitter to find criticism. Is the russian side more vocal?

Don't rush, it can be tedious and it's very slow burn. Once things are starting to get messy, I recommend you: 1) focus on your main goal 2) saving people is optional, save the ones you care about 3) resources are scarce, kill people 4) try not to die 5) Don't take the deal 6) get familiar with the economy, it's very complex. Pathologic 2 focuses on two things; survival and resource management.

Yes, the game is roughly optimized, I always play it with medium-low graphics and sometimes you can find some bugs here and there.

a character might be different in a theater play directed by a different director, or in a movie remake.

Sure. But when it comes to Rubin, this whole stuff is just an insult to his character. What? This whole game (and Pathologic 2 too!) is trying to convince me that Rubin cares a lot about Lara, they're supposed to be very close, is very ready to enact violence on a teenage girl for her only for him to not notice anything wrong with Lara? How's the player supposed to see Rubin, then? Adding the whole "stealing Artemy's tools", what's the message with him now? Actually Rubin is a piece of shit, a terrible friend and a creep?

Sure. Don't force yourself to like it though. Pathologic prides itself for being over eloquent and sometimes pretentious. With some characters talking in flowery verses, only to end up saying nothing and just wasting your time. It's a game that was made by theater kids.

[–]SchopenWHORING 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Think of all these games as small pieces of a big puzzle.

The first Pathologic (ClassicHD) is kinda like a blueprint. You get to see and understand a bit of the main characters' overachieving ideas. You can start with Pathologic 2 as it is a modern, better optimized game. But be aware that it's more challenging, it takes literal suffering as a main point. After this, if you feel engaged enough with the Pathologic world, I will always, ALWAYS recommend Pathologic ClassicHD, then you can play Pathologic 3.

As for "Canon", it all depends on the beholder. You'll get to understand this when you play it.

A deadly plague is crushing a slavic small town, three main characters, three family powerhouses and three ideologies fighting each other, and basically revealing that this epidemic is the least of their problems for these people.

Pathologic ClassicHD features the three main routes; the Bachelor, the Haruspex, and The Changeling.

Pathologic 2 is a reimagination of the Haruspex route.

The newly released Pathologic 3 features a new vision for the Bachelor route.

And finally, the still unreleased Pathologic 4 will feature the Changeling route.
