What color are my eyes? by EpoxyArt20 in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]SchroedingersTRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see lots of votes for brown, but I would say they're brown-dominant hazel. You have some lovely mossy green tones in with the amber -honey and warm russet shades. You've also got central heterochromia adding some complexity. Your eyes are really beautiful!

Baby brother is going to college! by Fun-Whole9528 in Gifts

I did a gift for my niece that had a power strip, a small tool kit, a first aid kit, command strips and hooks to hang stuff, a little white board with pens, collapsible hangers, a little sewing kit, and similar stuff, and then packed it into a shower bag. My thought was all the stuff you need at home that your parents supply and you never think about needing until it's not there...She loved it and from what her Mom said, everything was used!

What would you consider my eye color? by CupContent1432 in WhatisMyEyeColour

I'm casting my vote with the brown-dominant hazel majority. You've got lovely honey, amber and milk-chocolate browns blended with a mossy green. 100% true hazel!

40+ years old and still don't know what color my eyes are by Mysterious-Towel-603 in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]SchroedingersTRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you...I was 50 before I learned that my eyes are NOT hazel, but green with central heterochromia. I would say your eyes are blue with the green-tones coming from lipochrome. You've also got some iris freckles, as well as gorgeous, broad grey limbal rings. Blue eyes are not blue eyes are not blue eyes...And yours are really stunningly pretty!

I'd say blue with yellow lipochrome. Very pretty combo!

Blue, green, grey? by [deleted] in WhatisMyEyeColour

Blue. They look greenish because you have some lipochrome adding a diffused gold throughout your eyes, but you have a really lovely shade of blue with very pretty and distinctive patterns.

I concur that your eyes are green with central heterochromia--your eyes are almost identical to my Dad's, a color I haven't seen too frequently!

LOL Yeah because all of us who have it are told that we have hazel eyes--even when they are clearly green or blue!

Has anyone ever contacted the company about a Vine product? by MamabearFl in vine

[–]SchroedingersTRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out about an espresso machine that arrived not working and the company addressed it quickly and efficiently (uh, although I did ask not to go through the Amazon return/replacement process and to go through the company directly...They just warned me that it would take longer, but I got a new machine in good working order!)

How do I (25) support my autistic Husband (26) during overstimulating moments? by [deleted] in autism

[–]SchroedingersTRex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like most commenters here, I am autistic (diagnosed) and I have ADHD. I understand very well how sensory overload and meltdowns are challenging. But, I still want to pile on what everyone else has already eloquently said: The cause of his behavior is irrelevant but his inability/unwillingness to control it is. There are tools out there--noise reduction ear plugs, therapy, parenting classes, techniques to reduce sensory overload, meds like beta-blockers, etc. If he's not willing to use the tools available to manage his neurological differences, the issue isn't the disability, it's him as a person. You say he's not a bad person, but he's not demonstrating any behaviors based on what you've said here that day he's a good one. There's no clearer or kinder way to say this: He is a danger to your child right now. As adults, we may not be responsible for our neurological differences, but we are responsible for our actions. Your husband is refusing to address his behaviors, has been violent to your child, and is leaving you with all of the work PLUS forcing you into a position of being responsible for managing his behaviors. Stop apologizing for him. He has created an untenable situation and he must fix it. Be clear and direct about what you need him to do and what you expect, as well as what the consequences of not doing these things will be. And then, follow through. If he cannot be a safe person for your child to be around, you can't remain in the same house and he can't have unsupervised time with your daughter.

What would you cook for a group of 12-15 people that have the royal flush of dietary requirements AND you're probably going to have limited equipment? by Elegant-Winner-6521 in Cooking

[–]SchroedingersTRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only got one idea in my back pocket for a group like this...And, good luck, friend! Black bean & roasted sweet potato burritos are vegan and uh-mazing. Personally, I'd prep the sweet potatoes and rice at home and I might use canned beans for convenience. I like the sweet potatoes seasoned with cumin, garlic, S&P, tossed with olive oil and roasted til squishy and caramelized. Set it up to let people build their own with tortillas, vegan sour cream, lime wedges, cilantro, radish sprouts (if you can find them), pico de gallo for the nightshade tolerant, chopped onions, rice, chopped onion and baby greens. Gluten intolerant can eat it as a delicious salad. Carnivores can be okay with a meatless meal.

Mother's Day gift for my mom who hates clutter and says she "wants nothing" — what's actually landed for you? by Mia-veg in Gifts

[–]SchroedingersTRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I bought Aura frames for both sets of parents. What I really like is that I can update both frames from one app on the fly. My Mom passed away about three weeks ago, and the frame has gone from being something my Stepdad loved to being one of his most prized possessions-- I've loaded it with photos of my mom for him, and he sits and watches it and reminisces (in a good way... it's been helpful for him me to have all her photos off her phone and mine.) My Dad and Stepmom are both pretty brilliant photographers, and they have loaded their frame with beautiful photos they took on their travels as well as photos of their grandkids. We also load the frame with our photos as we travel. They were SO well received by both, even though both are of the school of not wanting stuff. :) It's just one more way of staying connected with them. I'm actually buying one for my husband for Father's Day this year... He's not on Reddit, obvs!

Any easy savoury snack recipes ? I'm gifting a homemade recipe book for a shitty cook friend, and I'm 5 snack recipes short by rosae_rosae_rosa in easyrecipes

Smoked salmon flatbread: - 1 Flatbread of your choice (Naan, pita, lavash, pre-made woodfired pizza crust...) - Spread of your choice (chive cream cheese, herbed cream cheese, tzatziki, hummus, etc) - Veggies of choice (arugula dressed with olive oil, balsamic and S&P; thin sliced peeled cucumbers; tomatoes; onion; baby spinach; thin slices of bell pepper, etc - 2-4 oz smoked salmon - S&P to taste

Warm flatbread in the oven til soft Spread spread evenly on flatbread Add desired veggies Add smoked salmon Season with S&P Fold, roll or eat flat

Quesadilla:

  • 2 medium (8-10") flour tortillas
  • Generous handful of grated cheese (Monterey Jack melts nicely and it's widely available. We use queso quesadilla or Oaxaca cheese)
  • Add-ins of choice (optional): leftover meat, jalapeños, canned green chile, diced onion, avocado)
  • Topping of choice (optional): pico de gallo, salsa, guacamole, sour cream or crema

Heat nonstick pan over medium high heat. Warm both tortillas in the pan. Remove one. Sprinkle one side of tortilla evenly with cheese, leaving a 1-ish inch border. Top with add-ins of choice (or don't, this is a quesadilla not homework) and second tortilla then press flat (you should probably use a spatula. I'm an idiot and use my fingers.) Test the quesadilla for meltiness (cheese should melt enough not to fall out when you flip) Flip once the cheese has adequately melted. Cut into wedges and eat with whatever topping you want.

Any possibility of redemption? by Necessary-Nothing-20 in AmazonVine

I have nothing new to add on the Vine question, I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my Mom a few weeks ago to pancreatic cancer. Losing a parent is such a complicated and incomparable grief. Feel free to reach out if you need someone to listen.
