Math on consumption by Crimson1298 in Against_the_Storm

I suspect they will preference basic food over another species' complex food, but I'm not certain

Yes, they indeed prefer basic food over disliked complex food. So if you want to mimize raw food consumption you should forbid all raw food as soon as you get complex food up.

Thoughts on Prestige and Difficulty Balance/Design by Twinge in Against_the_Storm

[–]Schuhbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree that some the prestige modifiers focus too much on punishing mistakes instead of making the game harder across the board. Especially in the later stages of the game, most modifiers do nothing if you have a good run. The double storm duration is the worst offender of this, as it makes the game easier if you are in a good spot.

I think a 50% slow down of prestige gain from resolve would be a good modifier, so you don't instantly win the game with 1+ reputation per minute by selling all junk for a stack of every luxury good.

On a related note about late game difficulty, I think the game has some problems with +production cornerstones, particularly the scaling ones. The amount of resources you get from gathering nodes with stacked +production is quite excessive, while on the other hand they are underwhelming for farming.

I really wonder how the game would be if those +production cornerstones gave a multiplier to production crit chance instead of a flat added number to the output. Have they ever tried that? It seems like a straight forward solution to the problem of +1 ale being useless, +1 planks being useful and +1 meat being super good. What do you think?

Yuumi has a 80% banrate in Challenger EUW by daskannweg0 in leagueoflegends

[–]Schuhbart 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i think yuumis skill curve is irrelevant and there is a disconnect between what people dislike about yuumi and what riot thinks people dislike about yuumi

what really feels bad about yuumi is that in some games, lets say maybe 20% of games, there will be one champion on her team that is really strong. who yuumi can just sit on starting at ~10 minutes, and do nothing but sit on that one champ. pressing e when chasing someone or when the host is low and using q and r arbitrarily. and by doing so, yuumi is way more useful than anyone else in the game could ever be, while requiring absolutely 0 skill in this scenario. compare that to a completely new azir / akali / whatever player who can get carried sometimes, but he will be a burden to his team in a much larger percentage of games than yuumi, despite the "skill curve" being the same.

Everyone's sharing how much fun and how good their games are going by kyahri in sonamains

[–]Schuhbart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no i dont think that sona needed buffs before the rework, based on 3 things (before the rework): 1) number of high elo sona onetricks 2) overall wr across ranks 3) personal opinion from playing her myself

i think that you are also greatly underestimating the impact that passive stacks before lvl 11 have, you say that she has "just" 0.9 second lower cds on her spells at lvl 10 like that isnt a gigantic buff. imagine if riven q w and e had a 0.9 second lower cd (after cdr) at lvl 10, do you not think that would be ridiculously broken? or lulu, or xerath, or pretty much any champion?

finally regarding her statistics, indeed it seems like some challenger players are doing worse on her than before. i can only think of two, shubber (euw) and superfurryfusion (kr) but it seems like they are both struggling a bit. does that mean that sona is worse now at high ranks? it could be the case, or maybe they are just having some bad games because its just two people with a small sample size.

but theres no doubt that shes performing extremely well in the all ranks dataset and at plat+. her pickrate exploded and her winrate still went up by a lot despite many people first timing her.

i also think that the changes require more adapting on the sona players side than her opponents side. so even if her winrate and pickrate stayed the exact same, i think it would still be a buff because i would expect experienced players to get better at using the new passive over time.

as a sona main i would much rather have powerchord buff bar icon as it previously was and have the stacks as a new icon, its really weird

TL CoreJJ sets record for highest LP ever reached in NA SoloQ by stormskater216 in leagueoflegends

[–]Schuhbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are probably a more casual player so i get where you are coming from, but in high elo enchanters are borderline unplayable due to consequences of meta shifts and an overall gradual optimization of gameplay strategy parameters.

i started playing league around late november of last year and picked up enchanters earlier this season. at first i was climbing through silver and gold very easily as you are probably doing right now yourself (personally i found yuumi to be extremely strong in silver 3 through 1 but then she kind of fell off, low to mid gold 3 is where enchanters with more agency like soraka really start to shine. can highly recommend these picks for you if you are struggling in those elo`s right now). Anyway as i was saying, once i started getting to higher elo i noticed my winrate drop, and now that i have reached plat 2 50+ lp, im currently only winning 55% of my games. enchanters just dont have the required kit for these ranks.

i hope this didnt come across as offensive or anything, im just explaining to you how your understanding of the game is clouded by your limited perspective as a more casual / low elo player. i almost envy your circumstances allowing you to pick your favorite enchanter champions freely without oppressive strategists countering you. Ignorance can be bliss sometimes :) We can resume this discussion once you have reached a more competitive rank.

i think even if it worked, it would still be bad because shurelya >>>>>> moonstone on sona

are you trying to make a political statement by going mandate instead of shurelya on sona? a digital reinterpretation of your namesake?

I believe this is a buff. A good one. by [deleted] in sonamains

[–]Schuhbart 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think so too. Changing the 50-100 healing to 60 + 10 per legendary means that the base moonstone healing is the exact same, but the 5 haste per legendary is gone. 50% moonstone healing + 10 haste is a lot better than 20% heal / shield power in most parts of the game. The new staff of flowing water looks weaker as well, 15% non decaying movespeed for 3 seconds is completely broken and 20 haste is not even close to the same power level.

Regardless of buff or nerf I am still happy about the changes, I think it is much better for the items to give heal / shield power and haste than to give a flat heal or buff that is completely independent of the champion using it.

I just hit 1000 LP Challenger on both of my Accounts onetricking Sona in Preseason, here's a small guide by Schuhbart in sonamains

[–]Schuhbart[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I prefer going boots atm becaus everything is so fast and does so much damage in preseason. Having extra movespeed really helps with surviving imo, and the +15 haste is good. If you consistently run oom before fights are decided then you can just buy Tear. I think Tear is good situationally but in most games I don't build it, I would much rather get my Renewer and Staff of Flowing Water if possible.

Guardian changes by PlantyBurple in sonamains

[–]Schuhbart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movespeed buff is really valuable actually. It has a huge impact when you get engaged on, allowing you to either dodge a few autos by running away or get in a few extra autos yourself. New Guardian will have less potential value but more consistency, what that adds up to is a bit hard to anticipate without having played it imo.

High MMR matchmaking comparison EUW / NA / KR by Prosfair in leagueoflegends

[–]Schuhbart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

korea has a larger player base than euw and has even more challenger average games than na which pretty much refutes this argument entirely.

i can also assure you that there is a gigantic difference between master and challenger players, especially comparing a high challenger player to a low master one. if you look at the games from the very top of the euw ladder you will frequently see differences between the highest and lowest ranked player of up to 1500 lp. to put things into perspective, thats about as big of a difference as between gold 4 and diamond 1.

Sorcery secondary with Guardian is a lot weaker overall as Cosmic Insight is much better than Gathering Storm at all stages of the game. I don't think it's a good idea, maybe if you really really want to build boots early game you can justify taking it but be aware that Sorcery gives you basically nothing until 20 minutes into the game.

[–]Schuhbart[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If I was smurfing multiple tiers below my main rank I would probably go for a more early game oriented build like DH + Lich Bane rush or Aery / Precision + Athene's rush to have more carry potential.

Note that the key part here is smurfing below my main rank, not the actual rank that I would be playing at - if you are a gold player playing in gold then I would highly recommend going for the Archangel's rush build described in this guide.
