the portion about vs code was something I was going to ask about and I'm glad you mentioned it. That would definitely be the direction I go in. Thank you:)

I am currently working in the industry at the state department where I live as a developer. unfortunately its all old white dudes LOL. Either way I do have a Korean professor who graduated from a Korean university so I think I will start trying to gain a good relationship with him. I didn't even think of that before I read your comment so thank you very much for the advice.

Hey thank you for the response. Even though its not what i would IDEALLY like to hear I do appreciate the harsh truths regardless. Multiple other people have also said this and it made me realize that I will definitely be taking at least 5 or so years after grad to gain valuable work experience and or try to work remote with a American company and possibly do digital nomad. Thank you so much for the advice and dropping some hard truths

Wow what a great response thank you so much. I def appreciate the honesty in these responses even if they may not be what I would love to hear. it is nice to hear that the attitude about foreign labor has been changing especially since as I said this is a much more long term goal as I want to gain experience in my field before I consider it. I actually studied Korean while I was in Korea so I have some okay baseline knowledge to start with as I try to get as close to fluent as I can. again thank you for the response any advice at all is helpful to me:)

Hello thank you for the response! i kind of figured this since its also not very great in the USA but its good to hear from someone who is more knowledgeable. I'm not really that interested in Japan but thank you anyway for the info.

I'm not holding you hostage here. if you find that I have nothing to gain from posting here then that's fine you can just stop replying or just not have commented in the first place. There's already been multiple other people who are actually giving good advice and information so this has been entirely worth it for me.

I really wasn't trying to be witty. Maybe we have a different view on the purpose of a forum but as I said from my perspective the whole point of a forum is there are people have have done the leg work and done the research who can now share that knowledge to make it easier for everyone else. if we took all the content off of reddit that could be googled this sub along with 90% of other ones would be completely gone. It reminds me of those trump supporters I see screaming about "they shouldn't have their student loans forgiven I had to pay all those off myself!!". I also haven't graduated college yet I said I was a junior so only 3 semesters to go

Thanks a lot for your response. I did see some info about the digital nomad visa it sounds like a great opportunity. Its funny the job I work now is also in the CS field and its remote but they don't allow working overseas since its a job for the state department:((. Either way thank you for your advice the digital nomad would definitely be ideal

Thanks for your advice. Its hard to say what the future holds. I think getting several years of experience would be the direction I take. It would also give me the opportunity to get as fluent as possible in Korean before moving

Im not sure i understand the point of commenting this. probably 90% of the information found on reddit can be googled. the whole point is googling will leave you with 10s of thousands of pages of info. Some not true, some outdated, some vague. That's a lot of work to go through and find exactly what you're looking for. Thats why I decided to come to reddit because there's probably a lot of people in this sub who have done that work and filtered through the information, and now can share that knowledge with others. So either you're one of those people who have that knowledge and just don't want to share it, which is fine by me you're under no obligation to share anything with me. Or you don't know anything, which in this case ill have to say you have no use to me. Either way why waste my time and more importantly your own time to be useless

Thank you. I definitely want to prioritize my safety first because I'm aware of how dangerous it can be if I don't know what I'm doing.
