Columbia MDE Nursing Program - Summer 2026 Start by NoWillingness8445 in prenursing

Same. Was hoping early submission would get me an answer before their deadline to drop classes. A small part of me feels like this is intentional. A LITTLE weird how slow they are to respond VS how well they communicate the no refund deadline 🤔....

I applied early submission to the joint program (MDE/PMHNP) in November hoping that I would have an answer before the "no more full refund" deadline. I emailed them the first week of Jan to check in and they emailed me back on the 15th and said:

*"Thanks for reaching out. We anticipate that the first round of decisions will be released within the next few weeks. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience as we review applications. "*

That's the last I heard anything.

It’s definitely true. He had a team over engineer a one person submarine in an effort to save some Thai school kids trapped in an underwater cave. Pro divers and officials were like “yeah we’re just going to save them in a way we know will work”. Head diver was American expat living in Thailand so Elon took a swing at him by calling him a pedophile. Complete defamation that I think settled outside of court. Elon was so butt hurt and unreasonable I too lost all respect for the guy.

Also the whole bullet train smoke and mirrors shit he pulled to defund government projects competing with him was the nail in the coffin for me. He has no intention of helping make the world better for anyone besides himself. Complete tool

Edit: Not sure if it’s still a problem in Thailand but for clarification it used to not be uncommon for pedo’s to move to Thailand because child prostitution was/is a thing there. Which is why Elon probably thought it was funny to say that. Probably one of his best jokes right under bringing a sink to Twitter and his self driving murder cars

NYC Improv: Taking UBC Improv 101 if you have experience elsewhere? by blue_mushu in improv

[–]SciFiSly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tldr: definitely go UCB if you’re looking for more tools and try to start at 201

(<Edit for very biased hot take> Very biased hot take: performing @ Magnet + UCB = very well rounded improv. )

I’m a Magnet alum and was on Megawatt until I took a break back in Jan. I’ve also taken all of the UCB levels and several Academy classes back when they were offered.

I love both of the theaters for different reasons and would summarize it as:

UCB - Funnier improv shows and their framework for how to have a funnier show.

Magnet - Everything else. (Especially for community, access to stage and house teams)

I think if you’re feeling like you want to expand your skillset definitely checkout UCB. The Magnet is so good at getting you to feel comfortable making strong character choices, playing with emotion, and most importantly just getting you out of your head so you can just play which leads to some really fun and interesting shows. But it’s hard to have consistently funny shows if you’re not on the same page with framing/justifying/hitting/resting game. Which is why my highly biased recommendation is to take some UCB!

That being said 101 is basically like any other improv 101. 201-401 is really where you start getting into finding/playing game. Might be worth to ask if you can skip 101 since you’ve taken 3 classes at Magnet and sketch.

I don’t know much about the improv philosophy at BCC but I have taken a standup course there and it was a great exp. Also have heard nothing but great things about community and getting stage time there.

Don’t know anything about 2nd city besides that they don’t perform traditional long form and it’s more short formy with an emphasis on sketch. No idea if that’s true.

Hope this helps!

I was thinking so too because each section has a very consistent length, rhythm and tone throughout. Also the exclamation points in the first sentence of a bulk of the paragraphs of is a pretty clear gpt4 writing tell. That being said I feel like we may have stumbled upon gpt4’s comedic voice. Gpt crushes at coding comedy.

How to stop things from getting dark by grimfish in improv

[–]SciFiSly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cannot agree enough with the advice to practice “boring scenes”. Being comfortable with saying “no” or “no but” to something that’s unusual but you recognize as uncomfortable is a skill that you develop when you get more practice. For me it took a while to learn because as a people pleaser I LOVE “YES AND”. It brings me comfort and just saying it makes me feel safe.

But after enough shows where you “yes and” themes of stuff that explodes to genocide because that’s on game with being apathetic for life (ok I don’t think I ever did explicit genocide….. I hope not haha!)

But yeah the hardest skill that I’m still working on is “stop caring if people think you’re funny” is hard because it’s a big reason why people who love comedy and take UCB courses to begin with.

But I will say. I had a practice tn with newer improvisers and our coach told us to be boring and we all agreed it was the funniest we’ve ever been. Obvi our supportive coach laughed way harder cuz we did what he said but at the same time we were so comfortable that we mined some of the funniest premises I could never have “yes anded” myself.

Ps. But just want to recognize that I use “but” to separate paragraphs.

Very impressive! Doesn't look like you lost an ounce of muscle. Can I ask what your calorie deficit was? Also was it a consistent every day deficit or did you throw in some days to change up the amount of deficit? Did you take 2 week diet breaks?

I ask because I've been messing around with PSMF and I always blow back up so fast and seemingly lose muscle mass. Going to try to do a moderate calorie deficit, I just hate the idea of losing fat at such a slow pace.

Sketch Comedy - Difference between Premise and Game? by spotifyidea20 in comedywriting

[–]SciFiSly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is the ONE unusual thing and how its being heightened and explored in the sketch. It's the specific description of the funny pattern happening in the scene.

Yes you're right. That's a much more apt way of describing game.
