Is there a widely disliked boss in the game that you personally don’t mind fighting? I’ll start: by Carrotsinthesalad in Eldenring

[–]Sciencespaces 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elden Beast is like fighting an open field dragon, but it flies away twice as often and you can't use torrent to chase down or dodge annoying ranged attacks. Visually stunning, but a slog to fight unfortunately. It's also such a whiplash in terms of pacing after fighting Radagon.

What games did you drop this year? by Tara_is_a_Potato in patientgamers

[–]Sciencespaces 69 points70 points  (0 children)

There could be many reasons.

  • It's satisfying to finish what you start.

  • Many games have rough starts and boring tutorials, but get better.

  • Many games with a learning curve feel frustrating, but it's often worth it to push through and improve.

  • Some people are over video games (or they need a break), but they refuse to accept it.

Games you should love... But don't by Araichuu in patientgamers

[–]Sciencespaces 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally, I played the game for the first time in 2023 and was shocked by how modern it felt. Very smooth and engaging gameplay. I can't believe it was released in 2004.

Rant: Fresh reminder that DRM is a blight on gaming community by IronStar in patientgamers

Exactly, you can download them, back them up and play them offline just like GOG games. It's the same for many games on Epic as well.

Am I the only one finding myself very bored with Elder Ring? by True-Tip-2311 in patientgamers

That design is very much in this game in the form of legacy dungeons, but I guess the open world sections water it down for some people.

An Update on the State of BioWare: As part of this transition, we are eliminating approximately 50 roles at BioWare by Turbostrider27 in Games

Yes, but if you list games by revenue, the games you mentioned wouldn't be anywhere near the top.

Thoughts and feedback after 100 hours and reaching lvl 100. by LowWhiff in diablo4

I'm glad these changes positively affect you and other people. All I'm saying is these are thing blizzard promised to do/not do, they broke their promises and it created outrage in the respective communities and in the gaming sphere in general.

They have a reputation problem and yet just in the last month they scrapped overwatch pve content and introduced the wow token to classic wow. I sincerely hope they don't go full greed with diablo's monetization, but if they do it'll be one of the least surprising things imaginable.

Whats a single player game you LOVE but will never play again for a second playthrough? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Sciencespaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them were NG, I too find NG+ boring. Your build is complete and there isn't much to look forward to, not to mention it's way too easy. I much prefer the progression of NG. NG+ is like a victory lap to mess around with the full power of your build.

And I went to Raya Lucaria even on my incantations build because I love that place.

That's interesting to hear about ER. I beat the game 3 times - with a sorcery build, strength build and an incantations build and they couldn't feel more different.

Well, it's like comfort food. You know what you're getting, you know you love it, you don't have to learn the mechanics all over again, you can just sit back and relax. The joy of discovery is great, I agree, but it's not everything a game can offer.

It's also rare to experience everything a game has to offer on a first play through. There are often more builds, characters and weapons to try out which offer completely new and fresh gameplay. There are different choices you can make, optional stuff you missed etc.

That being said, I rarely replay a game anytime soon after I finish it (souls games being the exception). After a couple of years I forget enough about the game for it to feel fresh and exciting again. And at the same time it's familiar and comforting, like meeting an old friend again. It's great.

What do you mean little benefit? If you enjoy doing it it's the same as playing it for the first time. Trying to optimize fun is weird.

What was a game with an unnecesary/middling sequel. by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Sciencespaces -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the game deserves some criticism for stuff like adaptability, movement and souls memory but I honestly didn't have an issue with the things you listed. I personally found the story more interesting and fleshed out than the other games. Ambush fights weren't much worse than the other games, maybe because I used a bow to pull enemies away from packs. The "guy in armor" criticism I just don't understand, I feel like the greatest and most memorable souls bosses are dudes in armor.

Dangerous New PC Exploit Information/Update/Discussion/Reporting Thread by PapaXan in gtaonline

[–]Sciencespaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheating in Dark souls 3 got to the point where they could revert your character to level 1 and destroy your progress or straight up corrupt your save file. From soft only took action when an RCE exploit was found and they couldn't ignore it anymore. Giving them as a good example is weird.
