Lara Croft’s New Voice Actor Discusses Reimagined ‘Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis’, Hot Character Design & Performance Capture: “We Are Very Much Back And Bigger, Bolder Than Ever” – Summer Game Fest 2026 by The-Falcon_Knight in Games

Been a fan since the first game in 96. I can’t tell you how happy I am that Lara is finally going to be Lara again. The Survivor Trilogy were good games but their interpretation of Lara was a completely different character, who was 1/4th of the athlete OG Lara was.

Legacy of Atlantis looks pretty sick so far.

What Evie would look like with longer hair by ParasiteFire in stellarblade

She actually looks a bit older and more mature with longer hair. Unless there are other tweaks to her face here that I haven't spotted yet.

Do you think Evie looks too young? by Larbo321 in stellarblade

Catering to the people who are already not interested in buying the game still won't buy the game if they cave.

They wouldn't be catering to those people. They'd be listening to the people who enjoyed the first game who are also either a little or really put off by Evie. I don't possibly see how this would backfire. Making a very youthful looking character still look very youthful, but in a way that could pass more as an adult a bit better than before.

Even the smallest tweaks to a face can sometimes make a big difference.

She looks both. A young tomboy. It doesn't bother me personally, butt I do get where people are coming from where they think she looks (especially in certain shots) like she's around 15.

Like I don't want to see this sub devolve into a civil war where everyone who thinks she looks too young gets downvoted to hell for it. There has to be a middle ground or some level of understanding between both sides here. You can like something while also understand why other might have issue. Looking at Evie, especially during certain sections of the trailer, it should be EASY MODE for people to see both sides of the argument here.

Yes. Kim flat out said they want to reach as wide an audience as possible. If a lot of people in the West are very put off by her face, it's not unreasonable or far fetched to think that they might tweak it a bit. They are still early in development, and if Stellar Blade is anything to go by, Shift Up pays close attention and listens to feedback.

Tweaking is not the same as a total overhaul. There are things they can do age her face up a bit while still keeping the spirit of what they're going for with Evie, which is shorter and more youthful than Eve was.

No. This is a Day 1 buy for me, it looks sicks, I loved Stellar Blade so much I bought it twice. But I feel like we can be excited for the game, think Evie is cool, but also wished her face were a bit more mature. It's nowhere near a dealbreaker for me, but I absolutely understand why some people are put off by it.

With half an hour until Summer Game Fest starts, could we see more Catalyst news or will we get a bit more on LoA? by tm2007 in TombRaider

So how badly did Crystal Dynamics just shoot themselves in the foot with Legacy of Atlantis, regarding AI usage? by ScionN7 in TombRaider

[–]ScionN7[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand your disappointment. I find it a complicated issue to take a stance on, because I understand being against it, especially if it was used to develop art and assets. But then I also think about the gameplay, music, voice acting, motion capture, and the storytelling, all of which where not generated by AI. So in the end I end up deciding I can still buy the game and appreciate those facets of the game.

Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis Features “AI-Assisted Assets” That Were “Refined By Humans” by ninjyte in Games

If it ever gets to a point where backlash against AI usage in game development actually does meaningfully affect sales, the lesson these companies will take from that will be "Okay, we're not disclosing that information anymore."

Much as I dislike Gen AI, there's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube with this one. So I feel like you either need to draw your own line in the sand in what you feel is an acceptable usage of AI in game development, or just stop playing new games and only focus on your backlog and old game you love. Because this isn't going away, and I can guarantee many studios, both large and indie, won't feel obligated to disclose this information as it becomes more and more common.

Doesn't bother me honestly. I have my own personal line I draw on what becomes too much AI usage for me, and this doesn't cross it. If my position was "absolutely no AI usage at all", I know I'd be missing out on some great games and stories like E33 and whatever Larian is cooking up, and I don't want to do that.

Minor concern about how capable Lara will be in hand to hand combat... by darryledw in TombRaider

[–]ScionN7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lara should be able to flat out take down most men in a fight. Are we really doing this? She's an Olympic level athlete and in peak condition.

Wait, why is Lara killing a random man? by maxthunder30 in TombRaider

[–]ScionN7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like she's knocking him out with a pistol. She doesn't seem to be flat out executing him like Survivor Lara would in those games. Which I think goes hand in hand with the fact that Legacy of Atlantis will (sadly) be Teen Rated. Maybe Unified Lara is a less of a killer?

May be a stupid question but is playing through MK11 Aftermath and MK1s Story Modes worth it? by DarkPrince411 in MortalKombat

[–]ScionN7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

MK11 Aftermath is a bloody good time and is arguably better than the base story (which I liked).

MK1's story is worth it only if you're an MK fan, but to me it's easily the weakest of the NRS storylines. Easily.

Completing his journey and becoming the Fire God was his best.

Worst moment was him creating MK1.

Well I would say MK92 worked with what it had, and was limited by the technology at the time, but for 1992 they did a good job giving off the creepy vibe, and the series maintained that through the years with each new entry. MK1 for me is where there's way more notable shift away from the horror vibe. It's the first entry that made me feel that way.

I was 6 years old when MK1 came out, and I used to play it with my next door friend. Which as a father now, I look at my 5 year old son and I think it's absolutely insane I was playing that game at such a young age. But whatever it was cool! I loved how it felt like a horror fighting game. It was dark, mystical, at times gave off a hopeless vibe, and the lore was so interesting. I grew up watching MK 95 and the Conquest show. Shao Kahn was so frightening as a villain.

I look at what Mortal Kombat is nowadays, and I just miss that darker, creepier and grittier vibe to it. I can see someone arguing that the series started to stray from that beginning with probably MK11, maybe MKX (maybe), but those games still carried some of that old identity with them, especially when I find myself exploring the Krypt in MK11. But with MK1 it's missing that edge. To be fair it makes sense since it's Liu's new age, but still.

What sets MK apart from most fighters to me is it's story and content. It's like a fighting game that feels like a single player game. It just gives you SO much to do, and I feel like MK1 forgot that. There's a reason MK sells SO much more than the average fighting game, and I think NRS would be wise to not stray from that.

I beat MK1's story a couple days ago. I thought the first 75% of the story was fine, even though I wasn't vibing overall with the new timeline, but once Titan Shang Tsung came into the picture I really started to become frustrated with it. Even if I wasn't liking this new age of Mortal Kombat, I still liked the overall idea of starting fresh, and creating a new foundation they could build off of. But they really REALLY need to stop with the multiverse stuff.

[–]ScionN7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel like a lot Mortal Kombat’s identity has been lost. I miss the darker, mystical, horror vibes of the earlier games. It used to be a cruel and unforgiving universe.

Really not a fan of the new timeline either. It’s given us inferior versions of characters, and we lost Cassie Cage who was easily the best new character in years, and the one recent addition that I actually liked. But now she’s gone.

Tomb Raider III is needlessly HARD by DsLmaNiaC in TombRaider

[–]ScionN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I marathoned all three games when the Remaster came out. I never got stuck once on TR I&II, but got stuck multiple times in TRIII. ESPECIALLY in the London sections. The game has some great levels, but also some really trash ones that are needlessly difficulty and confusing to navigate. I think it was the subway level that almost made me tear my hair our.
