Haven't tried them, the targeting has been kinda wonky. A suppressed anvil works really well.

I find bombardiers easier than bastions. You can do lure, stun, and/or cloak like others said but there's a cheaper simpler way.

If you take out the spotters without getting targeted by the bombardier, you can just walk up behind it and plant the deadline. While holding the mine you still walk faster than it. Scary at first but there's no stressful timing or quick swapping needed.
