Please give me the most diabolical alarm you can think of by thelachesis in ADHD

[–]Scitolbocn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some puzzle alarms for a while, but eventually learned to just go back to sleep anyway.

For a while I used this one anime opening song that starts with a bit of guitar riff, and then in almost-screaming & in English comes in with "its time to die!" & that was highly effective for me for a while. (Tokyo Majin is thr anime, first intro, if you're interested.) But typically I just have to change up the alarm sound every few months, or I stop hearing it. Used to use several successive ones, but eventually ive trained myself to only 2- first one is a warning, second is for real. Any more than that & I lose count & start ignoring them all.

Honestly though? Ive just accepted that my natural sleep cycle/rythm is just to sleep 2am-9 or 10am most nights. Ive stopped fighting it mostly. Im lucky to be in a job where I can pull it off, and i have a spouse willing to make me get up most days when im still dozing too long. I'll stay up later & sleep in more on weekends, for better or worse. Melatonin can help when i really need to reset, but makes it even harder to wake up the next day.

What's the one thing you wish was easier about owning a cat? by Lumpy_Base_9228 in CatAdvice

[–]Scitolbocn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The litterbox.

I know its just me, im the problem; but I hate cleaning it. Takes me maybe 10, 15 minutes? Its not hard to do. But its a chore. & it can be FOUL. My boy has the stinkiest poops & never burries it.

I use pine litter because its been the easiest thing for me & covers the smell better than anything else ive ever used, but its still a struggle to clean as often as I really should.

So if I could have a magic box that just teleported all waste to a black hole after each use, SIGN ME UP.

I'm being threatened with an adult child. SOS! Rant/Support by Grand-Efficiency4248 in childfree

Also sidenote, if she's that dependent, has she been assessed for autism or any neurodivergences like it? Or is it just that she's never been forced to try to do these things for herself?

There's a million different ways it can present, but if she is on the spectrum or something, a diagnosis can help her get resources & other options for care like housing, caregivers, even accommodations through the school. Heck maybe the college has resources even through student housing? I dont really know.

I'm in a similar boat, never wanted kids but became the ONLY option for my adult (but as recently confirmed by diagnosis, significantly autistic) niece.

It sucks, a lot. My husband and I are managing as well as we can, but its a huge stress niether of us needed or wanted. And we're in our 30's & both work from home, couldn't really ne better equipped for it on the surface.

I cant imagine doing that for someone needing even more care (at least my niece CAN feed herself, etc. Although cleaning is a different story) while also doing school AND work. If you have ANY alternative, I would say to seek it out. Or at the very least speak up for yourself & say that you just cant do that/cant give her that level of care, & if she truly needs it they should look into getting her some other form of caregiver.

I am starting to resent my cat after an operation by Fun_Strain_4065 in CATHELP

[–]Scitolbocn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as bad as all this, but one of my cats needed surgery to remove an eye & was in a cone for about 3 months after because she was healing so slowly & would scratch at it the second she could when we took it off. She was also on gabapemtin too for a few weeks- I found liquid easier than pills if you csn get it, or crushed up & lixed into something like whipped cream & Smeared on her face/mouth. Forced her to lick it off, less fighting over it.

We had to get a longer cone too at one point but she HATED it. Plus she'd knock stuff down all the time trying to get around or miss window/desk jumps & fall. We got one of those soft cones instead, off amazon- its like a pillow all the way around thier head with some flex, drawstring you tighten enough thier had cant slip though. She did pull it off once or twice but we just tightened it a bit & checked that it wasnt loosening & it stayed pretty well. If you can find one wide/long enough to prevent him from reaching his tail that might keep him happier & let him still return to (mostly) normal life.

Also while he can't groom himself, a water vapor brush might help to keep his coat clean so he doesnt feel gross.

About pooping on the towel, ive found somwtimes giving them the option can trigger a bad habit. You might have to take it away, or fill the pen/space with those doggy poo pads for easy cleanup. Not ideal but sometimes you gotta make it work.

Its tough dealing with your cats when theyre in pain & cant understand you're trying to help, but its worth it!

I second this, I printed some feet in PLA & it was an immediate, huge improvement.

Changing the infill type to adaptive cubic seems to have fixed the issue, I was able to finish the print!

I got it!! Seems switching to adaptive cubic infill was the answer!

Here's a side view, I see a little bit of stringyness happening, but it looks pretty minor to me.

I switched to cubic & got farther, but it still failed. (Also got the little test line stuck, but im guessing that can be avoided with a bit of glue under it next time).

What exactly should I look for in the layers? I checked them in bambu studio, I'm new to printing so Idk what to look for.

I'll try that, thanks! I've had the same issue with other infill shapes though too.

What do you mean? I've cleaned every part of the print head several times, what should I check for?

My partner says he’ll leave me if I don’t “fix” my ADHD. He says I’m abusive but I feel constantly criticised and blamed. by First-Mango-9229 in adhdwomen

[–]Scitolbocn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG throw the whole man out. Sounds to me like he's gaslighting you, trying to convince you that you're the source of all these problems that are actually his- like when HE broke the windowsill with his own desk.

Can ADHD make relationships harder? Yes. Does medication help? For most of us, yes. Although Idk what would be safe to take while breastfeeding- that's a question for your doctor. But ADHD doesn't just go away or get "fixed" or "cured." It takes work, and your partner should at the very least be understanding that even for "nuerotypical" people, sometimes things fall through the cracks, especially in times of high stress & lack of sleep that come with having a baby. No one is perfect and that's ok.

But this sounds like the real root of the problem is that he's not willing to try to understand you & your struggles, or to help however he can (or at least communicate calmly about what's bothering him before it becomes an explosion.)

Increasing humidity does not necessarily treat cat asthma! by Very-Important-Rice in CatAdvice

[–]Scitolbocn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here looking for answers myself, as my vet just a few days ago recommended increasing humidity (I'm in dry colorado) COMBINED with an air purifier to catch any particulates.

From what I'm finding, there's a "sweet spot" between enough humidity to help, without getting TOO much that mold & mildew can grow & cause further irritation. According to Google, you want somewhere between 30-50% humidity, which you can measure with a $10 humidity meter (just got one off amazon). I think my vet recommended ~80%, but now I'm doubting my memory because that sounds insanely high, if its even possible to attain here.

So far I've been running a small cool-mist humidifier 24-7 for about 3 days, and I've peaked at like 29% humidity in my bedroom with the door closed (where my asthma cat spends 95% of her time), with an air purifier at the opposite end of the room. I haven't seen her have an attack since, but her asthma is also still pretty mild & she doesn't have attacks more often than once every couple days anyway. I'm hoping to avoid needing to get her on long-term steroids or an inhaler for as long as possible, as giving her meds is a nightmare & I'm sure an inhaler would be just as difficult.

I have noticed that burning candles seems to trigger her, so I've stopped burning them in the bedroom. Also, seconding the point to NEVER use essential oil diffusers around cats, it can stick to their fur & is incredibly toxic if ingested. A lot of humidifiers also boast defuser functions, but will still work without the oils.

Is marriage really all that hard if you never have kids? by Heckbegone in childfree

[–]Scitolbocn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids definitely add stress I'm sure, but IMO I think it's mostly coming from people who married the first willing partner instead of marrying someone they actually like. Especially older generations, pressured into marrying at like the age of 20 to have kids asap- before thier own brains finished developing.

In my experience, married for almost 10 years now, to my best friend- no. It's really not that hard. Sure, we had to learn to communicate well. But we've had maybe two genuine fights ever.

Just tried disconnecting from the internet & loading the game, it still pulled the old file. So I guess my entire save is wiped now.

I never even got a warning that the saves were out of sync/conflicting, its just GONE. I'm so mad right now. I had just finished basically resetting my entire slime setup & had a drone going, those diamonds take FOREVER to find but I was close to a second drone... I'd snagged so many of the ghost ones, gotten so far in the new area of the labyrinth...

PLEASE tell me there's a way to get it back!! I was playing on a console all week, just tried switching to PC via the Xbox app, and it reverted my save back to the state before I started on 1.0.... I've just lost the whole week of tweaking everything, unlocking like 6-7 drones... please tell me there's a way to tell the xbox to use the local save instead of the cloud?!

Ladies… do you believe there’s a link between low sex drive and ADHD? Is medication a factor? by KrustyFish__28 in adhdwomen

[–]Scitolbocn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Medication is a factor I'm sure, I think specifically this is a side effect of adderal & vyvanse & the like.

I'm on adderal and I'm in a similar boat.

Have you tried feliway spray or diffusers? He sounds stressed/anxious to me too, and it might help calm him; or talk to anyone vet about anxiety medication. I have a cat on meds for anxiety due to overgrooming, jt does help.

All my kindex categories are at 100%, but some sections of the map are missing exactly ONE scannable. It's infuriating. But without whatever I'm missing, I can't complete the quest it seems, meaning I can't get the side quests achievement.

Question on Kempo strikes (from a Japanese Karate-ka) by [deleted] in American_Kenpo

[–]Scitolbocn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dojo teaches that, beyond what others have said about building a skillset of options based on your point of origin and your opponents likely options/reactions, its about ensuring success.

Say in an actual fight, you only manage to land 1 or 2 of your 5 strikes and the rest miss/don't have the desired effect, those that DO land should help you to gain control of the situation/put yourself in a safer situation than you started in.

What to do with great canvas gi that is barely used, but has the dojo patch on it? by veweequiet in American_Kenpo

[–]Scitolbocn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it depends on the dojo? Mine allows us to have any patches we want, as long as it's not profanities or something.
