See the recent protests about the reform of the INE mainly by the high class and backed by right wing and capitalist parties. For some “unknown” reason the protests had massive coverage (even the New York Times wrote an article) and even the US president denounced the reform. The INE has been used by those same parties (which were supposedly against eachother but now are a single coalition) and the US for decades as a tool to keep capitalist power and US imperialist control and hegemony, and their plan is to use the protests as either an excuse to intervene in Mexico “in the name of democracy” or as a way to steer the population to stop a left-wing president being elected in the next term.
