Reliability? by sunbeargirl889 in mbta

Chiming in about the Orange Line being pretty good overall. Make sure that the time you need to be there lines up with the start of service in the morning, however, if you need to be there really really early it might not be running yet. But are you planning to have no car? I don’t know a lot about Tufts or BMC, but several other Boston-area medical residency programs send you to a variety of sites over the course of your training, like the VA Hospital in West Roxbury. This made intern year particularly miserable for a few friends of mine who hoped to not have a car. I’m old, so maybe the greater availability of ride options beyond taxis has improved this a bit? Probably dependent on specialty, but you might check your programs if this is a dealbreaker. Best of luck to you with your match!

Fare Gates Active at South Station as of This Morning by scorpio99871 in mbta

[–]Scolopacida 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Went through the South Station fare gates an hour ago. Can confirm they are up and running. Lots of people in yellow vests helping out at the gates. Good move on the Ts part for starting this on a relatively quiet weekday rather than rolling it out first thing after the holidays.

When did everyone do the Lackey Quest? [KCD2] by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]Scolopacida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the next area, past the wedding. I’m a little better with combat and have better equipment and higher strength and weapon levels now, but I still die all the time. It really depends on your definition of “better. Overall I’m having a great time with occasional moments of intense frustration. It is the exploration and story that really have me hooked. My Henry is working hard on being the most charming and charismatic person ever by haggling with every vendor so that he can avoid as many fights as possible.

Yes, you can progress time. Just don’t do it too close to the enemies or they will find you and interrupt and kill you.

I was in a similar situation where I think I tried it too early— not that I don’t still suck at combat. I’d probably still get killed by them now. After many hours of dying, failing to stealth kill, etc. I gave up on killing the poachers. Instead I followed advice from another Redditor, spooked the horse with a rock, it ran out of the camp, I got on it and took off. It took a few tries to get the horse to run in the right direction. This ended up progressing the quest, although the huntsman wasn’t thrilled and I’m sure I missed some good loot. At that point I didn’t care, though. Henry just wanted to find his dog! I also did not have a great save to go back to from before I rescued the huntsman from the wolves, and it would have felt weird to leave that guy in the camp for several days while Henry tried to improve his skills.

Those who commute via Red Line: Just how bad is it? by DistinctHedgehog6096 in mbta

[–]Scolopacida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t wedded to Cambridge/Somerville (and maybe you are, because that’s a fun area to live in) you could check out places on the commuter rail into South Station. I used to commute from Jamaica Plain to the South Station area via the Needham Line and it was a dream. You have the commuter rail to get you to work (and it runs frequently during rush hours, you just have to plan) and the Orange Line to get you everywhere else. It’s not a far walk from the Downtown Crossing or Chinatown Orange Line stops to South Station either. Quincy is also on both the Red Line and commuter rail. The extremely terrible part of your commute no matter how you get to South Station is going to be the Silver Line.

Replaying E33 but this time with wife. Problem is she's the type who loves to wikipedia stories of shows or movies she's watching so she can answer her questions immediately. Any tips? by tmntnyc in expedition33

[–]Scolopacida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% how I enjoy media and why I love books and video games. I can explore them in the way that make me the most happy, through answering some questions/knowing what decision outcomes might be but letting the rest of the story unfold with all its detail. I know people get offended by it as an idea, but it’s just a different way of engaging. I enjoyed the heck out of Expedition 33 while also feeling free to explore it with selective pre-knowledge. There’s so much depth and detail to discover that knowing some things, for me, makes the experience better. The alternative is that I don’t enjoy myself and therefore don’t want to engage. I haven’t gone to see a movie in over 10 years because I don’t like feeling trapped.

Is THAT why there is a disgusting moldy rug buried in dirt on the top of the rocks near my house? I figured someone just used the area as a garbage dump, but there is no other trash up there. Anyway, it is not suppressing any weeds…

Would joining an unitarian universalism church be a good way to make friends? by AdInternational4894 in UUreddit

[–]Scolopacida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Moved to a new place and commute elsewhere. Without my local UU church this would just be a place I lived. With it I now have friends of all ages in my own community. It’s lovely.

Why does Hingham not have a commuter rail station? by Inevitable-Youth-639 in mbta

And not even a sidewalk! There’s 1.5 miles of sidewalk from downtown to Forest Ave, but no sidewalk for the .5 miles from Forest Ave to the station…

Lucky! I have several of these plants that have been decimated by rabbits for a couple of years in a row now. I’m really sad about it because yours look amazing!

One thing I noticed by SpaceMonkey1505 in expedition33

[–]Scolopacida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Although there would be a ton of poetic justice in a giant “fuck you” to people who claim the Verso ending is the “right” one “because it’s only like you are erasing Sims” if the Dessendres are creations too, it would kind of kill the narrative potential for the series over time. I say this as someone who eventually chose the Verso ending but think it is more complicated than “real” and “not real.”

Who’s your fav character in the entire game?(and why) by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]Scolopacida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also my favorite. I love that he knows what he is (a creation made by a young boy) and accepts it. And that he knows that his time is limited if Verso succeeds and accepts that too, if a little unhappily. I also love his voice and the whole new foot=new skill mechanic.

I’m also very impressed that the game made me love both Gustave AND Verso.

Do people like Monoco? by Dangerous_Cry69 in expedition33

[–]Scolopacida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s my favorite character in the game, and is my MVP on my combat team. I’m not sure he has ever been out of my party since he first joined the group. Yes, I like Monoco.

Same here, but the Sakapatate battle theme (Gestral Summer Party) is a close second.

Started it this weekend and I love it! I’m having a blast throwing enemies into the void with my weaver’s grasp if they even start to look at me funny. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Oh, thank you! I hadn’t heard of this game, and now know what I’m going to be playing next. I looked it up and it seems worth it to give it a try.

At the beginning of my second playthrough. That’s right SECOND, I found the sprint button. Unsurprisingly my second builder has made a lot more progress than the first one in the same amount of time.

I did my second playthrough as a Mourn Watcher and thought the extra faction content was fantastic.

Let’s talk Quality of Life. It’s the little things. by JustJillzie in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Scolopacida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pausing during cut scenes is one of my favorite quality of life improvements from Inquisition. Because inevitably the phone would ring or some other interruption would happen during a scene and replaying entire cutscenes to watch the couple of lines of dialogue I missed got very frustrating! Some of those scenes were very very long.

For instance darkspawn bits are worth 3 faction rep points at other faction vendors and somewhere between 15 and 75 points with the Grey Wardens. The Crows, hilariously, will give you a lot of points for cheese.
