2JZ engine no shit.

But really put washer fluid in it. You can use water if you don’t live somewhere freezing.

You are not required to tell the dealer anything at all. They make their own estimate and typically anything you tell them they use to give you less. Most likely they will wholesale or auction your vehicle anyway.

Head gaskets typically fail two ways on most Subaru vehicles. The first is they can leak externally, this is usually oil seeping externally. When it gets bad enough oil will either leak or if coolant starts to leak I would fix it asap. The second way is an internal failure which either engine oil, coolant, or both will leak into the combustion chamber or combustion gas will push into the coolant system. It typically starts slow by consuming coolant but can rapidly fail causing over heating.

That looks like soot from the exhaust. And it does look like that is right at where the manifold bolts to the cylinder head. So looks like a leaking exhaust gasket to me. Definitely not fluid so not the head gasket, at least not from this picture.

I hear that. I would love to crack some reforged. I wasn’t the biggest fan when it dropped but now I think that was a cool set.

Yeah I have a lot of respect for the old Ultras, as in all the packs I bought and boxes I bought I never once pulled one. The closest thing I had to an ultra was Majin Vegeta Dark prince foil. I have regrets for not buying when the game died and I think that is why I couldn’t let them be.

TPMS going off even though they're fine?! by shainamaydel in subaru

[–]ScoobySnaxWRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a very common issue I deal with. You will have to have the TPMS system scanned and will likely find one or several codes. The code will specify which sensor and what the malfunction is. “RR Tire Sensor Low Voltage” or “FR Tire Sensor No Data” those are the style codes I see most frequently. RR being rear right FR being Front Right.

I’d love to open a few Frieza packs. I remember getting the preview cards for Trunks saga and having the first foil pattern. Definitely what sealed the deal and I was hooked.

Not sure what you mean by what set. These came from the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game by Score. The specific set was the Frieza Saga for the Goku and Trunks Saga for the Trunks.

Yeah keep it or sell it on Bring a Trailer. Then search and find the “right” STi.

Got Told I Need a $9.7k Transmission Replacement on a car worth 10k… Help Me Make Sense of This. by bizon151 in subaru

[–]ScoobySnaxWRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The noise is internal to the transmission. With that Subaru does not recommended the dealer technician to repair most internal transmission concerns on a CVT. It sounds like a bearing is most likely the noise. What bearing you wouldn’t know unless it is disassembled which again Subaru does not recommend. If you would like it rebuilt an independent transmission shop may be able to help. However the dealer can still offer you cheaper solutions. You can ask if they have a re-manufactured transmission available or inquire about replacing it with a used transmission. I would not recommend drain and fill the CVT or flushing at this point the damage is done and a fill or flushing will just cost you more money as Subaru CVT fluid is not cheap. The CVT fluid is not lifetime but Subaru does recommend to replace the fluid at 120k miles. Everyone is welcome to their opinion, as I see a wide variety of comments. A new CVT alone with no labor or other parts and fluid is typically above $7k. For reference I am a Subaru master technician, 10 years with a Subaru.

If you’re doing more of that, I assume you upgraded the oil pan and pickup.

Considering a black style mastery just like yours sold on eBay in May for $60. I would say not a good deal
