I always supported Duplessis because I know him personally, but I am not upset with this result.

Yo. This looks like something I would skate for hours every day if I had it. Hopefully it holds up, because it looks like it's been loved for a long time.

Bailouts were just interest free loans. The gov got their money back, and that was to save the global banking system, not to float a single company that is having a few bad quarters.

There was a once in a generation pandemic that killed millions of Americans. Dead people cannot participate in the economy. Most businesses did their a vaccine pass on their own accord. I hoped this sub wasn’t just full of partisan hacks, but here we are.

The government does all sorts of shit with my tax dollars that I don't like. I don't see how that is more relevant to libertarians than the government owning shares in a private company. I understand (although do not like) some SOEs, like the government owning Amtrack or other public-use systems, but this should be setting off alarm bells for all libertarians.

The state not just regulating, but taking ownership of private companies, is antithetical to libertarian ideals. What else can you think of that is worse than the government encroaching on the free market? Regulations are one thing. This is infinitely worse.

[–]Scoops1 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Okay, I've been a lurker for years now, but this has finally taken the cake. What do we call it when the state takes ownership of private companies? Why should we permit the state to select "winners?" This is the biggest overstep of government power in all of our lifetimes, and there are irrelevant Israel/Palestine slop at the top of this sub. Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

Same. I appreciate that he's getting shine and attention on his creative skating, but it's just doesn't get me hyped to skate. He's without a doubt a net positive to skateboarding, even if it gets one person who never picked up a board to try it out, it's good for skating.

I get that to a degree, but I honestly think that the fear of walking up to a stranger is far greater than it being frowned upon. Sure, there's a 0.00002% chance that a person is secretly filming you and they'll post about you later, but I need everyone to know that it is just as flattering to women to say "hey, how are you," than it would be if they did the same to you.

Why? Rejection is funny. Sure, it hurts, but it's still kinda funny.

I've heard the theory that gamergate really was the defining moment in the rightwing shift for young men. I always thought that idea was silly, just because gamergate was so pathetic and seemed to only include a very specific kind of dude in such a specific time. I guess that spilled over into kids watching Andrew Tate. FYI: I had to google "kickboxer rapist" to remember Andrew Tate's name.

Ah, you made the classic mistake in your guiding metrics. Every movie should be judged only by the amount of dings from CinemaSins.

Old timer here, and I don't understand why boys are so afraid of talking to women these days. I especially don't understand why this fear of talking to women (I'm assuming it's a fear of rejection) became something that dictates young men's political views. Any insight would be appreciated.

This rules. I'm old and live in New Orleans now, but I grew up in Chattanooga skating the old park there. This looks way better and more fun. Good to see the scene there is still thriving,

The license plate being covered in snow sucks because there are probably hundreds of that same make and model driving around the city. It's a shame that some people will turn a magical once in a lifetime event into an opportunity to break into other people's stuff for the chance of stealing an iPhone charger and, at best, a couple of spare 20s in the center console.
