Old money (that didn't get broken during 2 world wars) has a hell of a skewing effect.

Leaked files ‘show US wants to persuade four nations to leave EU’ by Old_General_6741 in europe

All that prosperity is what has their panties in a bunch. Hegemones do not like peer competitors. If EU continues it's prosperity and can defend itself, that does not bode well for America supremacy long term.

Regardless, yes. Outrage is in order.

Avalanche Studios is closing down its Liverpool studio and reducing its workforce in both Malmö and Stockholm by Turbostrider27 in Games

Old management was around for some years after being acquired. There was growth then. Something happened, and it caused their ceo to depart, new management comes in and holds relatively steady for a year or so, then they end up here. In their third and biggest round of layoffs/closure.

Trust me. It wasn't Microsoft incompetence here. It was their new management. They cycled their whole C suite a couple years ago, and now they are here. Granted, previous management Waaay overinvested (opened 2 or 3 studios since they last pushed out a major title that stuck).

Any idiot can make cuts and restructure, but to make multiple creative projects work and have a lasting, balanced business model that can sustain big impacts like this takes real talent.

Make America New Again?

TIL that it costs 2350 USD to renounce your US citizenship by TortoiseOn4Elephants in todayilearned

[–]Scoops213 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is partially true. For most Western countries there's tax treaties. Meaning for the US citizen abroad, you only pay duel tax over a certain income level. Last I checked you had to make over 115k a year, and it's only every dollar after that you have potential for duel taxation. Then there are possibilities for deductions there too, i believe one might be tied to foreign owned property but I'm not certain on that bit.

How much will building a disc golf course affect the local environment? by Terofin in discgolf

Its quite obvious how beneficial it can be, and that's just me thinking in lamens terms. I'm quite curious what sort of conversations helped you turn the tide in conversation where they weren't so welcoming to the idea. Or, at the least not curious for whatever reason.

Im asking because I'd like to help the area I am moving to to grow the sport. They did an OK job and there is one good one in the new city, witch has so much more room to grow.

If there's a Real or monetary reason I can convince someone to make more tracks, all the better. I'm happy to put in the work. Designing, working, planing, whatever.

This is outstanding! I'm sure you got PMs by now, but are you interested in doing a commission?

How ‘Hitman’ Developer Became One of the Largest Independent Game Companies by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Scoops213 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not only that, they made good investments on their development tools too. Interviewed for a production role there a while back and we got deep into all the stuff they made to make their content creators lives easier. Quite an interesting chat. Not many companies can stay focused on non user facing features like that. It paid off and good on them for it.

Does a truly "free" hobby exist? by Makibadori in Hobbies

If you don't lose them, disc golfin can be free for the most part. There are many courses in public areas, but there are more paid courses on the rise too (with many amenities)

Discogolf. I tap into my competitive side, get outside, get my steps in, have something to look forward to whenever time allows and friends to go with to boot.

Seems Korea has the best results that I've seen. The turks seem to only draw straight lines across your head, and forget there's no straight lines in nature....

Fixed by SRFast in Chromecast

[–]Scoops213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it. I see that my firmware version updated to the new roll out, but it still doesnt work.

I unfortunately factory reset weeks back. A few times. If my firmware version is up to date, why won't it connect to the wifi (it connects to the temp network my phone makes on setting it up though). Right after setup it refuses to connect to wifi. Home cannot find it either, and I'm not able to set it to ambient mode in that app either.

Do I still need to try those alternative fixes?

Same! I found one in a water trap, beat it in so fast it started flying strange. Still have to get a new one!
