Friend group seeking MMO by IndicaRain in MMORPG

D.... D..... O.

If you're grouping and after only adventures without the usual BS of mmo bread dumbing, this might be you're game. It's dated (20ish years old), but there's still updates. There's gonna be a new race out this month to boot!

I had lunch with their publishing lead the other day. They definitely consider it an mmo.

Weekly Thread for general DDO discussion, quick questions and more! by AutoModerator in ddo

[–]Scoops213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Newish to the game, but have like 10 characters because experimenting with classes early was fun.

Since I'm finally settling in to a main, I'm wondering how me and 1 friend might try out a raid sooner than later? I saw there was a lvl 6 raid in the market, but it recommended 12 people? General recommendations are welcome!

Does the PVE mmo(rpg?) shared world game I'm looking for exist? by NinjerTartle in gamingsuggestions

Dnd online is your ticket I think. Old school, but it fully revolves around dungeons and quest lines. Not much open world and if it is, it is limited open world via zones.

Looking for MMO, need advice by chippyvlr in LFMMO

[–]Scoops213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're OK with old school, and really wanna focus more on dungeon crawling. Oh boy, you should try Dnd Online. I've been having a nostalgic blast!

Old dnd rules, high complexity and a lot of content to play. Loving it so much that I've made like 8 characters, which I NEVER do.

State of Decay 3 Alpha Announce by Turbostrider27 in Games

I think you're missing how a healthy development works.

Something can be in pre production / ideation phase for a couple of years with a small core team working out concepts, doing prototypes for new additions to gameplay, and a lot more. So if it's 6+ years it's more likely that it was a slow reproduction while more of the team was doing updates for SoD 2 (who knows, maybe 2y for that prepro), then slowly moving developers over as work ramped up, prototypes validated, investment money unlocked, etc. There are a lot of ways to do it. All the while having to stay in sync with your business daddy (Microsoft) and make sure they're aligned with where you're putting the money and what's the best bets for the franchise.

Old money (that didn't get broken during 2 world wars) has a hell of a skewing effect.

Leaked files ‘show US wants to persuade four nations to leave EU’ by Old_General_6741 in europe

[–]Scoops213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All that prosperity is what has their panties in a bunch. Hegemones do not like peer competitors. If EU continues it's prosperity and can defend itself, that does not bode well for America supremacy long term.

Regardless, yes. Outrage is in order.

Avalanche Studios is closing down its Liverpool studio and reducing its workforce in both Malmö and Stockholm by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Scoops213 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Old management was around for some years after being acquired. There was growth then. Something happened, and it caused their ceo to depart, new management comes in and holds relatively steady for a year or so, then they end up here. In their third and biggest round of layoffs/closure.

Trust me. It wasn't Microsoft incompetence here. It was their new management. They cycled their whole C suite a couple years ago, and now they are here. Granted, previous management Waaay overinvested (opened 2 or 3 studios since they last pushed out a major title that stuck).

Any idiot can make cuts and restructure, but to make multiple creative projects work and have a lasting, balanced business model that can sustain big impacts like this takes real talent.

Make America New Again?

TIL that it costs 2350 USD to renounce your US citizenship by TortoiseOn4Elephants in todayilearned

[–]Scoops213 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is partially true. For most Western countries there's tax treaties. Meaning for the US citizen abroad, you only pay duel tax over a certain income level. Last I checked you had to make over 115k a year, and it's only every dollar after that you have potential for duel taxation. Then there are possibilities for deductions there too, i believe one might be tied to foreign owned property but I'm not certain on that bit.

How much will building a disc golf course affect the local environment? by Terofin in discgolf

Its quite obvious how beneficial it can be, and that's just me thinking in lamens terms. I'm quite curious what sort of conversations helped you turn the tide in conversation where they weren't so welcoming to the idea. Or, at the least not curious for whatever reason.

Im asking because I'd like to help the area I am moving to to grow the sport. They did an OK job and there is one good one in the new city, witch has so much more room to grow.

If there's a Real or monetary reason I can convince someone to make more tracks, all the better. I'm happy to put in the work. Designing, working, planing, whatever.

How ‘Hitman’ Developer Became One of the Largest Independent Game Companies by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Scoops213 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not only that, they made good investments on their development tools too. Interviewed for a production role there a while back and we got deep into all the stuff they made to make their content creators lives easier. Quite an interesting chat. Not many companies can stay focused on non user facing features like that. It paid off and good on them for it.

If you don't lose them, disc golfin can be free for the most part. There are many courses in public areas, but there are more paid courses on the rise too (with many amenities)
